Lauheit.... weakness of will.... slackness in prayer....

The more lukewarm a person is, the stronger the influence he has to fear from the adversary. He then neither offers resistance nor strives for God's strength and is therefore in the greatest danger of becoming weak and succumbing. He should always bear in mind that the ascent to the heights is arduous and that a slackening of his willpower very easily results in a step backwards, which requires renewed effort in order to catch up. The adversary is vigilant, i.e. he does not miss a single moment of a person's weakness, but the latter should also be vigilant so that he does not expose his soul to the danger of being oppressed by the adversary. And the weaker he feels, the more fervently he should pray for strength. But even if he begins to become lukewarm in prayer, the adversary's power over him is great. And yet he cannot be spared the struggle against this power. Spiritual beings certainly stand by him, but their help has to be requested because they cannot become active without the call. And in hours of weakness of will the human being often omits this call as well, and then he is defencelessly at the mercy of the adversary's power. And he has to fight the battle against him himself, which is often very difficult. And it is always the weakening of prayer that causes his willpower to weaken. The more often and more intimately a person unites himself with God, the less he is exposed to the influences of the enemy, because both at the same time, the power from God and the power of the adversary, cannot be effective. But the power from God is always stronger and excludes every activity of evil forces. In hours of need, of lukewarmness and weakness of will, a heartfelt call for the support of good beings suffices and the work of those beings will already be stopped. Only the will to do good must still be present in the human being, and soon the fervour of prayer will also increase again and the human being will have escaped the danger....

Tiepidezza – Debolezza della volontà - Cedere nella preghiera

Più l’uomo è tiepido, più forte è da temere l’influenza da parte dell’avversario. Allora non offre né resistenza, ne tende verso la Forza di Dio, e quindi si trova nel più grande pericolo di diventare debole e di soccombere. Deve sempre tenersi davanti agli occhi, che la risalita verso l’Alto è faticosa e che un cedimento della forza della sua volontà ha molto facilmente per conseguenza un regresso, che richiede di nuovo un sforzo per poter essere recuperato. L’avversario è attento, cioè non perde nessun momento di debolezza dell’uomo, ma questo deve essere proprio attento, affinché non esponga la sua anima al pericolo di venire oppressa dall’avversario. E perciò deve pregare con più fervore, più si sente debole. Ma se comincia anche ad intiepidirsi nella preghiera, il potere dell’avversario è grande. E malgrado ciò non può essergli risparmiata la lotta contro questo potere. Ha bensì a sua disposizione degli esseri spirituali, ma il loro aiuto deve essere richiesto, perché senza l’invocazione non possono diventare attivi. E l’uomo tralascia sovente anche questa invocazione nelle ore della debolezza di volontà, ed allora è esposto senza protezione al potere dell’avversario. Egli stesso deve combattere la battaglia contro di lui, che sovente è molto difficile. Ed è sempre il cedimento nella preghiera, che fa paralizzare la sua forza di volontà. Più sovente e più intimamente l’uomo si collega con Dio, meno è esposto alle influenze del nemico, perché ambedue insieme, la Forza da Dio ed il potere dell’avversari, non possono diventare attivi. Ma la Forza di Dio è sempre più forte ed esclude ogni agire di forze maligne. Nelle ore di miseria, della tiepidezza e debolezza di volontà è sufficiente una intima chiamata per il Sostegno da parte di esseri buoni, ed all’agire di tali forze viene posto un Alt. Nell’uomo deve essere presente soltanto la volontà per il bene, e presto anche l’intimità della preghiera aumenterà, e l’uomo sarà sfuggito al pericolo.
