Immortality of the soul....

The teaching of the immortality of the soul is not accepted by many people because they compare it to earthly transience. In their opinion nothing on earth is permanent, everything passes away, and hence they believe that they are no exception to this natural law. The earthly body decays indeed, that is, it seemingly disintegrates and passes away. But the human being does not consider that the apparent disappearance is only the means of transition into a new form. On reflection he will have to conclude that everything earthly serves some purpose, and he will observe that even the most insignificant creations are somehow related to one another and therefore not without purpose.

When such a work of creation fades away numerous other creations absorb the remainder of the first, which thus serves them and continues to live on in the new creations. He only has to seriously observe an outer transformation and he would have to admit that the inner life cannot vanish either. And he should at least grant the human being this inner life too.... he has to make it clear to himself that the human soul, the emotional life, cannot be discontinued arbitrarily.... that this emotional life is the essential significance of every embodiment. The outer form is of no use unless the inner core is acknowledged by humanity.

A doutrina da imortalidade da alma é inaceitável para muitas pessoas porque elas aplicam o padrão à transição terrena. Não há nada na terra que dure, tudo está lá apenas temporariamente, de acordo com a opinião dessas pessoas, por isso elas acreditam que não podem fazer nenhuma exceção a essa lei da natureza. O corpo terreno decai de fato da mesma maneira, isto é, aparentemente se dissolve e passa; mas o homem não considera que a aparente passagem é apenas o meio para uma nova formação. Com algum pensamento ele terá de reconhecer tudo o que é terreno como servindo a algum propósito, e observará que mesmo as criações mais discretas têm uma certa ligação umas com as outras e não são, portanto, sem propósito. Se tal obra de criação passa agora, numerosas outras criações levam novamente os restos da primeira para dentro de si, e assim os servem e continuam a viver nas novas criações. Ele só precisa considerar seriamente uma transformação exterior, então ele também deve admitir que a vida interior não pode passar. E ele deve ao menos conceder esta vida interior também ao ser humano.... ele deve deixar claro para si mesmo que a alma do ser humano, a vida emocional, não pode ser terminada à vontade.... que esta vida emocional é o verdadeiro significado de toda encarnação. A forma exterior não tem utilidade se o núcleo interior não for reconhecido por parte da humanidade.
