Food for the soul.... spiritual food....
Purely spiritual food is the nourishment of the soul, which can only be offered to you from above. It is a favour from God, which man cannot measure, for He gives man something undeserved, as it were. He gives him loving means for the soul's higher development, He makes everything available to him through which the human being can attain perfection. He pours out divine grace upon the earthly child in the most abundant measure in order to make the path upwards passable for him, and thus He instructs people. And this instruction is the bread of heaven, spiritual nourishment for the soul. Man also needs nourishment to maintain his body, and this is always and constantly imparted to him through God's goodness. But the nourishment the soul needs is of a different kind. The soul can only be considered spiritually because it is the union of spiritual potencies, which are therefore of spiritual origin. These soul potencies must now be supplied with something which is supernatural, which is taken from the spiritual kingdom and can only be perceived by the soul with the spiritual eye. And so the soul is now fed with a nourishment that contributes to the increase of the spiritual, the soul is spiritualized as it were, which was previously turned towards the earthly. For if the soul is only given earthly sustenance it starves and suffers terribly from its meagerness. However, if it is offered spiritual nourishment, its condition is freer.... (interruption)

혼의 양분. 지적 음식.
순전히 영적인 양식은 혼에게 양분이고, 이 양분은 단지 위로부터 너희에게 제공될 수 있다. 이런 양분은 사람이 측량할 수 없는 하나님의 은혜이다. 왜냐하면 하나님이 사람에게 그들이 벌어드리지 않은 어떤 것을 주었기 때문이다. 하나님은 사람에게 혼의 더 높은 성장을 위해 사랑이 충만한 수단을 주었다. 하나님은 사람이 온전함에 도달할 수 있게 해주는 모든 것을 사람에게 제공한다. 하나님은 이 땅의 자녀가 높은 곳을 향한 길을 갈수 있도록 해주기 위해, 가장 풍부한 분량으로 하나님의 은혜를 부어준다. 다시 말해 하나님은 사람들을 가르친다. 이런 가르침이 하늘의 약식이고, 혼을 위한 영적인 양분이다.
육체를 유지하기 위해 사람은 마찬가지로 음식이 필요하다. 음식은 하나님의 선하심을 통해 항상 사람에게 주어진다. 그러나 혼이 필요로 하는 양분은 다른 종류의 양분이다. 혼은 단지 영적으로 받을 수 있다. 왜냐면 혼은 영적인 잠재력이 결합된 것이고, 이로써 영에서 나온 것이기 때문이다. 이런 영적인 잠재력을 가진 혼에게 단지 세상을 초월한 것을, 영의 나라에서 얻은 것을, 혼이 단지 영의 눈으로만 인식할 수 있는 어떤 것을 공급해야만 한다. 그러면 혼은 이제 영적인 존재를 증가시키는 일에 도움을 주는 양식을 공급받게 될 것이다. 이로써 이 전에는 세상을 향했던 혼이 동시에 영이 된다. 왜냐면 혼에게 단지 세상적으로 공급하면, 혼은 굶주리고, 그의 배고픔 가운데 끔찍한 고통을 겪기 때문이다. 그러나 혼에게 영의 양식이 제공이 되면, 혼의 상태는 더 자유롭게 된다.
