Food for the soul.... spiritual food....

Purely spiritual food is the nourishment of the soul, which can only be offered to you from above. It is a favour from God, which man cannot measure, for He gives man something undeserved, as it were. He gives him loving means for the soul's higher development, He makes everything available to him through which the human being can attain perfection. He pours out divine grace upon the earthly child in the most abundant measure in order to make the path upwards passable for him, and thus He instructs people. And this instruction is the bread of heaven, spiritual nourishment for the soul. Man also needs nourishment to maintain his body, and this is always and constantly imparted to him through God's goodness. But the nourishment the soul needs is of a different kind. The soul can only be considered spiritually because it is the union of spiritual potencies, which are therefore of spiritual origin. These soul potencies must now be supplied with something which is supernatural, which is taken from the spiritual kingdom and can only be perceived by the soul with the spiritual eye. And so the soul is now fed with a nourishment that contributes to the increase of the spiritual, the soul is spiritualized as it were, which was previously turned towards the earthly. For if the soul is only given earthly sustenance it starves and suffers terribly from its meagerness. However, if it is offered spiritual nourishment, its condition is freer.... (interruption)

Nahrung der Seele.... Geistige Kost....

Rein geistige Kost ist die Nahrung der Seele, die euch nur von oben geboten werden kann. Sie ist eine Gnade von Gott, welche der Mensch nicht ermessen kann, denn Er gibt den Menschen gleichsam etwas Unverdientes. Er gibt ihm liebevolle Mittel zur Höherentwicklung der Seele, Er stellt ihm alles zur Verfügung, wodurch der Mensch die Vollkommenheit erlangen kann. Er schüttet in reichlichstem Maß die göttliche Gnade aus über das Erdenkind, um ihm den Weg zur Höhe gangbar zu machen, und also unterweiset Er die Menschen. Und dieses Unterweisen ist das Brot des Himmels, geistige Nahrung für die Seele. Es bedarf der Mensch zur Erhaltung des Körpers gleichfalls der Nahrung, und diese wird ihm durch Gottes Güte vermittelt stets und ständig. Doch die Nahrung, welche die Seele benötigt, ist anderer Art. Die Seele kann nur geistig bedacht werden, weil sie ja der Zusammenschluß geistiger Potenzen ist, die also geistigen Ursprungs sind. Es muß nun diesen Seelenpotenzen etwas zugeführt werden, was überirdisch ist, was dem geistigen Reich entnommen ist und nur mit geistigem Auge wahrnehmbar ist für die Seele. Und so wird die Seele nun gespeist mit einer Nahrung, die zur Vermehrung des Geistigen beiträgt, es wird die Seele gleichsam vergeistigt, die zuvor dem Irdischen zugewandt war. Denn so die Seele nur irdisch bedacht wird, darbt sie und leidet entsetzlich unter ihrer Dürftigkeit. Wird ihr jedoch geistige Kost geboten, so ist ihr Zustand freier.... (Unterbrechung)
