Bound will.... recognizing the love of God....

The life-giving influx of divine power flows through all works of creation and is therefore the primordial force and the source of all life. The divine will, which brought everything into being, now also ensures the existence of all that exists. The meaning and purpose of creation is the return of all that is spiritual to God as its origin, consequently the spiritual flows the power from God in order to be able to accomplish the return to Him. If now the spiritual substance would refuse to accept the strength it would also have no possibility of development, for without the supply of divine strength the works of creation could not exist, thus the spiritual substance would not be able to change either, and consequently it would remain in the same state as it was when it fell away from God. And the beingness would refuse to receive this strength if it had to determine it itself, for it emerged from the adversary's will and his will was also transferred to the beingness even though it had received the right of self-determination from God. And thus the spiritual substance had to be incorporated into the work of creation against its will, that is, its will was bound, and this for its redemption from the adversary's will. The resistance against God remained but the being is powerless against the divine will. What the being did not recognize in its delusion it must learn to recognize in an infinitely long process through creation.... the infinite love of God.... Every work of creation betrays this love of God, and when the beingness now feels the power from God against its will, i.e. enters the circuit of divine love, the stubborn resistance begins to weaken and the bound will now turns to the eternal deity of its own accord. And God increasingly loosens the still bound will and gives the being more freedom the more its will complies with Him by fulfilling the task assigned to it, i.e. by being willing to serve. It certainly cannot refuse to carry out the serving activity which is destined for it, since it is in a certain state of compulsion, but if at the same time the will of the spiritual being is willing to do so, it gives up its former resistance and progresses in higher development. Thus the being will feel God's love in every external form, yet it will only recognize God's love in its final stage as a human being.... i.e. the connection of all things with God and itself as His living creation.... And that is why it can only be given back its free will as a human being. The misuse of it is a step backwards, the right use of it is progress in his higher development. And this is divine love, which lets nothing fall, even if it stands in blatant defence against God. But how much more intimately does divine love embrace the beings which try to approach Him out of their own impulse.... for whom the earthly way of life has brought the realization of the eternal deity and Its infinite love.... Every endeavour towards God is pleasing to Him, provided it is truly, i.e. inwardly felt. And what merciful love He shows to the being that errs and yet is willing.... He tries to lead it to the right realization as long as it does not resist Him. And all earthly torments aim to purify the spiritual being which does not completely entrust itself to God's guidance and is therefore still wavering in the right realization. God's love wants to be recognized through love, and busy loving activity therefore also brings the human being closer to divine love. Serving God in free will means giving love to one's fellow human beings.... recognizing divine love will become easy for them and, looking back, at the end of their physical life they will understand the infinite love of God, which banished the beingness in order to set it free.

Gebonden wil – Het herkennen van de liefde van God

De leven gevende stroom van goddelijke kracht doorstroomt alle scheppingswerken en is dus de oerkracht en de oergrond van al het leven. De goddelijke wil, die alles liet ontstaan, verzekert nu ook het bestaan van alles wat er is. De zin en het doel van de schepping is de terugkeer van al het geestelijke tot God, Die zijn oorsprong is. Bijgevolg vloeit de kracht van God naar het geestelijke om de terugkeer tot Hem te kunnen bewerkstelligen.

Als het wezenlijke zou weigeren om de kracht in ontvangst te nemen, dan zou het ook geen ontwikkelingsmogelijkheid hebben, want zonder de toevoer van goddelijke kracht zouden de scheppingswerken niet kunnen bestaan. Dan zou het wezenlijke zich ook niet kunnen vervormen en zou het bijgevolg in dezelfde toestand blijven, zoals het was bij zijn afval van God. En het wezenlijke zou weigeren om deze kracht in ontvangst te nemen, als het dit zelf zou kunnen bepalen, want het is voortgekomen uit de wil van de tegenstander en diens wil werd ook op het wezenlijke overgedragen, ondanks dat het door God het zelfbeschikkingsrecht gekregen heeft.

En dus moest het geestelijke tegen zijn wil in het scheppingswerk ingelijfd worden. Zodoende werd zijn wil gebonden en dat met het oog op zijn verlossing uit de wil van de tegenstander. Het verzet tegen God blijft weliswaar bestaan, maar het wezen is machteloos tegenover de goddelijke wil. Wat het wezenlijke in zijn blindheid niet herkende, moet het door een eindeloos lange gang door de schepping leren herkennen: de eindeloze liefde van God.

Elk scheppingswerk verraadt deze liefde van God en als het wezenlijke nu tegen zijn wil de kracht uit God gaat voelen, dus de stroomkring van de goddelijke liefde binnen treedt, begint het koppige verzet af te nemen en de gebonden wil richt zich nu vanzelf op de eeuwige Godheid. En God maakt steeds meer de nog gebonden wil los en geeft het wezen des te meer vrijheid, naarmate zijn wil Hem tegemoetkomt, doordat het de hem toegewezen taak vervult. Dat wil zeggen, het bereid is om te dienen. Het kan weliswaar niet weigeren om de dienende werkzaamheid uit te voeren die voor hem bestemd is, omdat het zich in een toestand van moeten bevindt, maar als tegelijkertijd de wil van het geestelijke ertoe bereid is, geeft het zijn vroegere verzet op en schrijdt het door een opwaartse ontwikkeling voorwaarts.

Het wezen zal de liefde van God in elke uiterlijke vorm gewaarworden, maar de liefde van God zal het pas in zijn laatste stadium als mens herkennen. Dat wil zeggen de samenhang van alle dingen met God en zichzelf als Zijn schepsel. En daarom kan hem ook pas als mens weer de vrije wil gegeven worden. Het misbruiken hiervan is een achteruitgang. Het goed gebruiken is een vooruitgang in zijn opwaartse ontwikkeling.

En dat is de goddelijke liefde, die niets laat vallen, ofschoon het sterke weerstand biedt tegen God. Maar hoeveel inniger omsluit de goddelijke liefde de wezens, die Hem uit eigen beweging trachten te naderen. Van wie de gang door het aardse leven haar het herkennen van de eeuwige Godheid en haar eindeloze liefde gebracht heeft. Elk streven tot God is Hem welgevallig, indien het waarachtig is, dat wil zeggen innerlijk gevoeld wordt.

En wat voor erbarmende liefde schenkt Hij het wezen dat dwaalt, maar toch gewillig is. Hij probeert het tot het juiste inzicht te leiden, zolang het zich niet tegen Hem verzet. En alle aardse kwellingen beogen de loutering van het geestelijke, dat zich niet geheel overgevend aan de leiding van God toevertrouwt en daarom nog aarzelt of het het juiste inzicht heeft.

De liefde van God wil door de liefde herkend worden en actieve werkzaamheid in liefde brengt de mensen ook dichter bij de goddelijke liefde. In vrije wil God te dienen, betekent liefde geven aan de medemensen. Voor hen zal het herkennen van de goddelijke liefde makkelijk worden en aan het einde van het lichamelijke leven achteromkijkend, zullen ze de eindeloze liefde van God begrijpen, die het wezenlijke boeide om het vrij te maken.
