Higher development requires: dissolving matter.... assuming the will....

Progressive development requires striving upwards, it requires the soul to detach itself from matter, to give up its own will and to utilize divine strength.... Man must give up one thing in order to be able to receive that which is valuable for eternity. It is inevitable that the soul must first overcome the inclination towards matter before it can occupy itself with the spiritual, for spiritual experience is inconceivable as long as the human being is dominated by earthly possessions insofar as his thoughts and desires are only concerned with their increase and the earthly pleasures made possible by them. Spiritual experience requires a detachment from everything that delights the body.... Only those who have completely overcome the body can raise their spirit to the heights, and only then is higher development assured. However, in order to have the strength to overcome earthly desires, this strength must be requested, for without support he himself is too weak. That is why the human being must not forget to pray. Prayer for strength for the salvation of the soul is always welcome by the father in heaven. Entrusting the need to Him in heartfelt prayer, asking Him for help and then patiently waiting to see how God sends His help to the person on earth is the right preparation for the spiritual experience. And if the human being then listens to the inner voice, the divine will will be made known to him clearly and distinctly.... And now it is up to the person himself to what extent he submits to divine will. If he needs any spiritual help then he only needs to raise his thoughts to God and he will receive this help, often in the most marvellous way. Surrendering his will to God is unspeakably blissful, for such a person is relieved of all responsibility and all his thoughts and actions must now also correspond to divine will. The slightest offence will make the path to God more difficult to pass, for man thereby creates obstacles for himself which often block the narrow path upwards and it costs him great effort to clear them out of the way. God is constantly giving.... He distributes His grace to make it easy for His earthly child to reach Him. And if it prays, it will also very soon know what it should do in order to lift its state of soul.... and if the will is good, then it will obey everything God asks of it....

Höherentwicklung bedingt: Lösen von Materie.... Unterstellen des Willens....

Eine fortschreitende Entwicklung bedingt ein Streben nach der Höhe, sie bedingt ein Lösen der Seele von der Materie, das Aufgeben des eigenen Willens und die Inanspruchnahme göttlicher Kraft.... Es muß der Mensch das eine hingeben, um das empfangen zu können, was wertvoll ist für die Ewigkeit. Es ist unumgänglich, daß die Seele den Hang zur Materie vorerst überwinden muß, ehe sie sich mit dem Geistigen befassen kann, denn das geistige Erleben ist nicht denkbar, solange der Mensch von irdischen Gütern beherrscht wird insofern, als sein Sinnen und Trachten nur deren Vermehrung gilt und den dadurch ermöglichten irdischen Freuden. Geistiges Erleben erfordert ein Lösen von allem, was den Körper erfreut.... Nur wer restlos den Körper überwunden hat, dessen Geist kann sich zur Höhe schwingen, und nur dann ist die Höherentwicklung sichergestellt. Um aber die Kraft zu haben zum Überwinden irdischer Begierden, muß diese Kraft angefordert werden, denn ohne Unterstützung ist er selbst zu schwach. Darum darf der Mensch des Gebetes nicht vergessen. Das Gebet um Kraft für das Heil der Seele ist dem Vater im Himmel jederzeit willkommen. In innigem Gebet Ihm die Not anvertrauen, Ihn um Hilfe bitten und nun geduldig warten, in welcher Weise Gott dem Erdenmenschen Seine Hilfe sendet, ist die rechte Vorbereitung zum geistigen Erleben. Und so der Mensch dann horcht auf die innere Stimme, wird ihm klar und deutlich der göttliche Wille kundgetan.... Und nun liegt es am Menschen selbst, wieweit er sich dem göttlichen Willen unterstellt. Benötigt er irgendwelche Hilfe in geistiger Weise, so braucht er nur die Gedanken zu Gott zu erheben, und es wird ihm diese Hilfe werden, oft in der wunderbarsten Weise. Gott seinen Willen hinzugeben ist unsagbar beglückend, denn es ist ein solcher Mensch jeder Verantwortung enthoben, und sein ganzes Denken und Handeln muß nun auch dem göttlichen Willen entsprechen. Das geringste Zuwiderhandeln wird den Weg zu Gott schwerer passierbar machen, denn es schafft sich der Mensch dadurch Hindernisse, die den schmalen Weg nach oben oft verrammen und es ihn große Anstrengung kostet, diese aus dem Weg zu räumen. Gott gibt unentwegt.... Er teilt Seine Gnade aus, um es Seinem Erdenkind leichtzumachen, zu Ihm zu gelangen. Und betet es, so wird es auch sehr bald wissen, was es tun soll, um seinen Seelenzustand zu heben.... und ist der Wille gut, dann befolgt es alles, was Gott von ihm verlangt....
