Het berouw van de ziel in het hiernamaals
Voor de ziel in het hiernamaals is het bewustzijn zelf schuld te hebben aan haar situatie en van elke mogelijkheid beroofd te zijn uit eigen kracht haar toestand te veranderen een vreselijke last. Maar dit bewustzijn heeft ze pas dan wanneer zich in haar het verlangen voordoet, voor verbetering te zorgen. Tevoren is ze apathisch, doet geen moeite opwaarts of naar beneden te gaan, voelt alleen maar een kwelling zonder weerga en is volledig willoos, tot er zich voor haar, door hulp van lichtwezens die haar in vermomming naderen, weer een mogelijkheid voordoet met andere zielen samen te komen, en nu in haar de drang ontwaakt, in een andere omgeving te komen in het geloof dan ook aan de toestand vol van kwelling ontsnapt te zijn. En nu wordt het haar pas duidelijk, dat ze datgene moet inhalen, wat ze op aarde verzuimde, dat ze werkzaam moet zijn in liefde.
En nu ziet ze ook haar nutteloos leven op aarde in en de spijt over de vele onbenutte gelegenheden is buitengewoon groot. Bij goede wil zal ze spoedig een verbetering bemerken, want zodra ze berouw voelt, benut ze ook elke gelegenheid in liefde bezig te zijn tegenover de noodlijdende zielen, want een ziel die verhard is, keert zich meer naar beneden en voelt ook nooit berouw over haar eigen schuld, omdat zo'n ziel door beïnvloeding van kwade krachten nooit haar onrecht in kan zien en bijgevolg ook geen spijt voelt. Pas het besef van haar schuld is in staat de ziel in het streven opwaarts te gaan, aan te zetten. En dan begint ook het werkzaam zijn in liefde, dat haar kracht toevoert om op te klimmen.
Het bewustzijn van haar schuld is steeds het gevolg van medelijden met die zielen die net als zij, een toestand vol kwelling hebben te verdragen, en deze opwelling levert de ziel al de hulp op van de lichtwezens, die nu niet meer aflaten, tot ze de weg omhoog heeft gevonden en is opgegaan. En hoe verder de ziel in het inzicht vordert, des te vlijtiger komt ze, het in liefde werkzaam zijn in het hiernamaals na en biedt al diegenen hulp die nog lager staan dan zij, omdat ze hun kwellingen kent en ze graag zou willen helpen die voor hen te verminderern.
En dit bezig zijn in liefde laat nu de eigen wroeging zwakker worden, en ze heeft nu toch de mogelijkheid rijper te worden, en ofschoon ze ook nooit de hoogste graad kan bereiken, het kindschap GOD's, dat alleen door een leven in liefde op aarde kan worden verworven, is ze toch gelukzalig in het bewustzijn, GOD, DIE ze nu boven alles liefheeft, te kunnen dienen tot in alle eeuwigheid.

Repentance of the soul in the afterlife....
For the soul in the beyond, the consciousness of having caused its own situation and of being deprived of any possibility to change its condition by its own efforts is immensely burdensome. But it only has this consciousness when the desire arises in it to create an improvement. Before that it is apathetic, it strives neither upwards nor downwards, it only feels unparalleled agony and is completely without will until, with the help of beings of light which approach it in disguise, it is offered the opportunity again to meet with other souls, and now the urge awakens in it to enter another environment, in the belief that it will then also have escaped the agonising state. And now it realises that it has to make up for what it missed on earth, that it has to work in love. And now it also recognises her idle period on earth, and its remorse for the many passed-up opportunities is extremely deep. With good will it will soon feel an improvement, for as soon as it feels remorse it will also use every opportunity to be lovingly active towards the needy souls, for a hardened soul will turn more downwards and never feel remorse about its own guilt, because such a soul can never recognise its wrongdoing through the influence of evil forces and therefore also feels no remorse. Only the realisation of its guilt is capable of stimulating the soul in its striving upwards. And then loving activity sets in, which supplies it with the strength to ascend. The awareness of its guilt is always the result of compassion for the souls which, like it, have to endure an agonising state, and this impulse already earns the soul the help of the beings of light which now do not slacken until it has found and entered the path upwards. And the further the soul progresses in realisation the more diligently it pursues its activity of love in the beyond and helps all those who are still below it, because it knows about their agonies and would like to help reduce them. And this activity of love now makes its own remorse diminish, after all, it still has the opportunity to mature, and even if it can never reach the highest degree, the childship to God, which can only be acquired through a life of love on earth, it is nevertheless blissfully aware that it can serve God, Whom it now loves above all else, for all eternity....
