Materie behoort tot de aarde

De materie staat in het nauwste verband met de aarde en zal zich hier daarom nooit van los kunnen maken. Materie is iets tastbaars en zichtbaars, dus iets aards, in tegenstelling tot het geestelijke, dat dus tot het bovenaardse rijk behoort. Iets geestelijks zal zich steeds van de aarde verwijderen, terwijl de materie nauw met de aarde verbonden is, omdat de aarde zelf uit stoffen, dus uit materie, bestaat. Bijgevolg behoort de materie tot de aarde. Dat wil zeggen dat de materie naar de materie streeft, terwijl de geest in de mens evenals al het onontwikkelde geestelijke tot hetzelfde geestelijke aandringt.

Onder het geestelijke rijk moet alles verstaan worden, wat buiten de aarde ligt. Dat wil zeggen alles, wat geen materie is en waar ook geen materie zou kunnen bestaan. De grenzen van wat bestaat, zijn wijselijk vastgelegd. En deze grenzen kunnen ook niet buiten beschouwing gelaten worden. Alles wat als tot de aarde behorend op te tekenen valt, zal zich nooit van de aarde los kunnen maken, want al het onrijpe geestelijke is bij zijn afval van God in de materie gebonden en het kan zich zo lang niet van haar vrij maken, dan tot het een bepaalde graad van rijpheid bereikt heeft, wat langere of kortere tijd nodig heeft. Bijgevolg is ook het geestelijke dienovereenkomstig lang in de nabijheid van de aarde. (Onderbreking)

Matter belongs to the earth....

Matter is closely connected to the earth and will therefore never be able to detach itself from it. Matter is something tangible and visible, therefore something earthly, in contrast to the spiritual, which belongs to the supernatural kingdom. Something spiritual will always move away from the earth, whereas matter is closely connected to the earth, since the earth itself consists of earthly substances, therefore of matter. Consequently, matter belongs to the earth, i.e., matter strives towards matter, while the spirit in man as well as all undeveloped spiritual pushes towards the same spiritual. The spiritual kingdom is to be understood as everything that lies outside the earth, i.e. everything that is not matter and where no matter could exist. The limits of existence are wisely determined and these limits cannot be ignored. Everything that is to be recorded as belonging to earth will never be able to detach itself from earth, for all immature spiritual substances were banished into matter during their apostasy from God and cannot free themselves from it until they have reached a certain degree of maturity, which requires a longer or shorter time. Consequently, the spiritual is also close to earth for a correspondingly long time.... (interruption)
