Earthly tests of will.... constant struggle....

Many earthly tests of will are imposed on you, i.e. your will often has to decide in earthly matters and then you also ask yourselves whether your decision was right. But you are mostly only concerned about earthly success.... You are less concerned about whether you have complied with the will of your father in heaven, Who did not put you before that decision for nothing; for He wants to test your inclination towards matter, He wants to induce you to also remember with every decision that you think and act rightly and justly towards your soul. For it is not God's will that you only think of your earthly advantage but also take care of your neighbour's.... People usually strive for their own advantage at the expense of their fellow human beings, and this is what every person should think about when faced with earthly decisions. Furthermore, it is not irrelevant whether only the human being's intellect deals with these decisions or whether the one Who alone can advise correctly is always remembered.... For as soon as God is approached for guidance and advice the human being's thinking and decision will also be right, everything will, as it were, arise of its own accord and every obstacle will be removed.... for God also wants to be approached for advice and help in earthly questions and matters, and His help always consists of everything arising of its own accord as it is good.... Earthly existence is a battle and will remain so, yet if it is conducted with God then the battle will also end well, it will be able to end victoriously and also lead to the spiritual aim. The struggle, however, mainly consists of overcoming the earthly world, even though the human being stands in the midst of the world.... He must fulfil his duties, he cannot evade every demand placed on him by the world.... But he can nevertheless withdraw himself, i.e. his inner being, his thinking, feeling and wanting, from the influence of the earthly world, he can shape himself in such a way that the desire for the world no longer fills him but the spiritual kingdom is worth striving for.... And in the midst of the world he can do justice to the duties and demands placed upon him because he has already achieved victory over matter. And then earthly goods can also fall to him, which he only sees himself as the administrator of and utilizes them in the right way in the service of his neighbour.... But to what extent the human heart is still involved in earthly goods and earthly successes is something the human being has to answer for himself. And this is therefore also decisive for the respective decision in earthly life.... A sincerely willing person will always receive divine guidance and help; but where the person's own will is still too strong God's will cannot be heard, and God also holds Himself back as long as the person does not fully submit himself to Him. And then resistances and obstacles will replace each other, the human being will not have a clear gift of decision, his own will still strongly emerge.... i.e., the world has not yet completely lost its appeal and has a corresponding effect on the human being. And this is the battle which you have to fight again and again, in which you must not succumb, from which you should nevertheless emerge victorious one day and can do so if only you don't forget the one Who let you walk this earthly path so that you will reach perfection in it, so that you will recognize Him as the most desirable aim and now also pursue this alone....

Aardse wilsbeproevingen - Voortdurende strijd

Er worden u veel aardse wilsbeproevingen opgelegd, dat wil zeggen: uw wil moet vaak beslissen in aardse aangelegenheden en u zult u dan ook afvragen of uw beslissing juist was. Maar het gaat u meestal alleen om het aardse succes. Het gaat u er minder om of u gevolg hebt gegeven aan de wil van uw Vader in de hemel Die niet voor niets u voor die beslissing plaatste, want Hij wil uw verlangen naar de materie beproeven. Hij wil u aanleiding geven er bij elke beslissing ook aan te denken dat u tegenover uw ziel juist en rechtvaardig denkt en handelt. Want het is niet Gods wil dat u alleen maar aan uw aards voordeel denkt, maar dat u ook dat van de naaste ter harte neemt. Meestal wordt eigen voordeel op kosten van de medemens nagestreefd en dat is waar ieder mens aan zou moeten denken wanneer hij voor aardse beslissingen wordt geplaatst.

Verder is het niet onbelangrijk of alleen het verstand van de mens zich met deze beslissingen bezighoudt, of dat er steeds aan Diegene wordt gedacht Die alleen goede raad kan geven. Want zodra God om leiding en advies wordt gevraagd, zal ook het denken en de beslissing van de mens juist zijn. Alles zal zich als het ware vanzelf voordoen en elke hindernis zal uit de weg zijn geruimd, want ook bij aardse vragen en aangelegenheden wil God worden gevraagd om raad en hulp. En Zijn hulp bestaat altijd daarin dat zich alles vanzelf voordoet zoals het goed is.

Het aardse bestaan is een strijd en zal dat ook blijven, maar wordt deze met God gevoerd, dan zal de strijd ook goed aflopen. Hij zal succesvol beëindigd kunnen worden en ook naar het geestelijke doel leiden. Maar de strijd bestaat voornamelijk in het overwinnen van de aardse wereld, ofschoon de mens midden in de wereld staat. Hij moet zijn plichten vervullen, hij kan zich niet aan elke eis onttrekken die van de kant van de wereld aan hem wordt gesteld. Maar hij kan zichzelf, dat wil zeggen zijn innerlijk wezen, zijn denken, voelen en willen toch aan de invloed van de aardse wereld onttrekken. Hij kan zichzelf zo vormen dat niet meer het verlangen naar de wereld hem vervult, integendeel, hem het geestelijke rijk het waard is om naar te streven. En hij kan te midden van de wereld aan de plichten en eisen voldoen die aan hem worden gesteld, omdat hij de overwinning op de materie al heeft behaald. En er kunnen hem dan ook aardse goederen ten deel vallen waarvan hij zich alleen als beheerder beschouwt en die hij op juiste manier gebruikt in dienst van de naaste. Maar in hoeverre het hart van de mens nog bij aardse goederen en aardse successen betrokken is, dat moet de mens voor zichzelf beantwoorden. En dat is dus ook doorslaggevend voor de desbetreffende beslissing in het aardse leven.

Iemand die ernstig wil, zal steeds de goddelijke leiding en hulp ten deel vallen. Maar waar de eigen wil nog te sterk is, kan de wil van God niet worden vernomen en houdt God zich ook in, zolang de mens zich niet geheel en al aan Hem onderwerpt. En dan zullen weerstanden en hindernissen elkaar aflossen. De mens zal niet de gave hebben om duidelijk te beslissen. Het eigene zal nog sterk op de voorgrond treden, dat wil zeggen de wereld heeft nog niet helemaal haar aantrekkingskracht verloren en werkt daarmee in overeenstemming ook op de mens in. En dat is de strijd die steeds weer door u moet worden uitgevochten, waarin u niet zult mogen bezwijken, waaruit u toch eens als overwinnaar tevoorschijn zult moeten komen en het ook zult kunnen, wanneer u maar die Ene niet vergeet Die u deze gang over de aarde liet gaan opdat u daarin tot voltooiing zult komen, opdat u Hem zult onderkennen als het meest nastrevenswaardige doel en dit nu ook alleen nastreeft.
