Charity....

In christian neighbourly love lies the foundation of peace and harmony, both on a large and small scale, i.e., nations and states will live in peace with each other, just as people will live together in harmony among themselves if their behaviour is based on the principle of neighbourly love, if they only want to do good to each other and strive to keep suffering and worry away from their fellow human beings. Then there will truly be peace on earth.... but how far away are people from this now....? They offend each other and are full of ruthlessness, even though they don't consciously want to harm people, yet there is no sign of love for each other, and that is why the great spiritual decline is so obvious, for without love the human being cannot strive spiritually either, without love there is no spiritual progress.... people do not reach their aim.... Only a few still accept the law of love which, however, has to be fulfilled or there can be no peace. And so every individual should seriously ask himself how he behaves towards this law.... he should ask himself whether he is doing everything in his power to bring joy, to alleviate suffering and to control the hardship which becomes obvious to him and requires his help. Man should think more of others than of himself, then he will also see what is lacking and be able to remedy it. Man should avoid everything that offends his fellow human beings, but do everything that makes them happy. Seriously ask yourselves whether you could justify yourselves if such a justification were demanded of you. And you will discover many omissions which are then a sin if the fellow human being suffers or suffers as a result, be it mentally or physically. Help where you can and protect your neighbour from suffering where you can.... Never let self-love prevail, never let your neighbour go hungry if you yourselves are doing well.... This is to be understood literally and also figuratively, for even a kind word, a good look, a helpful action can refresh and strengthen the fellow human being, therefore don't let it be lacking. Practice neighbourly love.... and your earthly life will be harmonious, there will be peace and harmony in and around you, and if all people lived according to this commandment it would truly be paradise on earth. But how does it look in the world? All bad qualities, greed, hatred, envy, discord, insincerity and self-love dominate people, they are not friends but enemies, they do not respect each other but seek to exalt themselves, they do not lay a soothing hand on wounds but inflict new ones, and thus evil becomes ever greater and plunges people into ruin. Love has grown cold among people, and that is the end.... For where love no longer exists all substance hardens, where the heart can no longer feel love all knowledge is lost, thus all life will also die, for only love alone is life.... Hence you humans can certainly still live physically but spiritually you are dead if you are devoid of all love. Again and again love will be preached to you, don't let these admonitions fall on your ears but know that they are the last calls from above; know that there is not much time left until the end but that you will be judged according to your love. Therefore take care that you do not need to fear the judgement.... Practice neighbourly love and thereby acquire eternal peace....

Amor el prójimo

En el cristiano amor al prójimo yace la argumentación de la paz y de la concordia, tanto en los grandes como también en los pequeños, es decir, gentes y naciones vivirán todos juntos en paz, pero también como los hombres entre sí, vivirán juntos unánimes, si su comportamiento parte del principio del amor al prójimo, hacíéndose mutuamente sólo el bien, si lo quieren y se esfuerzan realmente en la tierra, manteniendo a sus semejantes alejado el sufrimiento y las preocupaciones. Sin embargo, qué lejos están pues, los hombres de ello. Ellos se mortifican unos a otros y están llenos de falta de consideración, aún cuando ellos no quieran conscientemente causar daños, pero del amor mutuo no se nota nada, y por eso es también la gran decadencia espiritual tan evidente, pues el hombre sin amor no tiene ambición espiritual, sin amor no hay ningún progreso espiritual. Los hombres no llegan a la meta. Muy pocos sólo admiten aún el mandamiento del amor, mas tiene que ser cumplido, de lo contrario no puede haber paz ninguna.

Y así, que se pregunte cada uno seriamente, cómo él se comporta ante este mandamiento, que se pregunte si él hace todo lo que está en sus fuerzas, para hacer alegría, para mitigar la pena y remediar la desgracia que se le hace manifiesta y exige su ayuda. Que el hombre piense más en los otros que en él mismo, entonces verá también en qué peca o qué le falta para poder poner remedio. El hombre tiene que evitar todo, con lo que él ofenda a su semejante, por lo contrario hacer todo con lo que pueda darle alegría. Preguntaos con seriedad, si podéis justificaros, si tal justificación se exigiera de vosotros. Y descubriréis muchas omisiones y descuidos, los cuales son entonces un pecado, si vuestro semejante, de ese modo, sufre o padece hambre, ya sea síquica o corporalmente.

Ayudad, donde podáis ayudar y preservad al prójimo del sufrimiento, donde podáis, no dejéis jamás que el egoísmo hable primero, jamás dejéis pasar hambre al prójimo, en tanto que a vosotros dejáis que os vaya bien. Esto se ha de entender textualmente y también en sentido figurado, pues también una palabra amable, complaciente, una mirada bondadosa, un acto caritativo pueden refrescar a los hombres y reforzarlos, por eso haced todo lo posible. Practicad el amor al prójimo, y vuestra vida terrenal transcurrirá en armonía, se hará paz y concordia en vosotros y en vuestro derredor, y si todos los hombres vivieran correspondientemente a este mandamiento, sería en verdad el paraíso en la tierra. ¿ Mas qué aspecto tiene el mundo?

Todas las malas cualidades dominan los hombres; condicia, odio, envidia, discordia, falta de sinceridad y egoísmo, uno al otro no es amigo, sino enemigo, no se respeta uno al otro, sino que tratan de realzarse a sí mismo, no ponen una mano mitigadora sobre la herida, sino que golpean nuevas, y por eso el mal, siempre es mayor y los hombres se arrojan en la perdición. El cariño se ha enfriado entre los hombres, y eso es el fin. Porque donde ya no hay amor, toda sustancia se endurece, donde el corazón no puede más sentir amor, allí se pierde toda clase de entendimiento, es decir que toda la vida morirá también, pues sólo el amor es la única vida.

Vosotros hombres podéis por lo tanto vivir aún bien corporalmente, pero espritualmente ¡sí ! estáis muertos, si estáis desprovistos de todo amor. Cada vez de nuevo se os predicará el amor, no dejéis que esta exhortación se extinga en vuestro oído, sino sabed que ésta es la última llamada desde la altura; sabed que ya no queda más tiempo hasta el fin, mas vosotros seréis juzgados según vuestro amor. Por eso preocuparos, para que no tengáis que temer el Juicio. Ejercitaos en el amor al prójimo y adquirid por medio de él, la paz eterna.
