Not just listeners, but doers of the word....

Those who strive spiritually must make an effort to live a way of life that corresponds to God's will, because this alone brings success and guarantees the human being spiritual ascent. Anyone who only mentally tries to reach the aim and does not turn his thoughts into deeds will remain at a standstill in his development. For only the deed proves his will to ascend, to God. And therefore only the person who lives according to God's will.... who is not only a listener but also a doer of His word, which makes the divine will known to him, can mature in knowledge. His knowledge can only increase and become the right knowledge if he utilizes the knowledge he has already received, thus if he follows the divine word and is lovingly active towards his neighbour, be it spiritually or earthly.... if he tries to alleviate his neighbour's hardship in order to comply with divine will. He can only reach God through love, which he demonstrates to God by loving his neighbour. Only this path leads him to the aim. The heart must drive him to carry out what is first conveyed to him intellectually through the offering of the divine word. If the human being is not active then he can constantly receive knowledge intellectually, it does not promote his spiritual development but remains dead spiritual knowledge because it is not utilized accordingly. And that is why life according to God's will is the first condition to mature spiritually, for knowledge will then increase even if the human being does not try to penetrate it intellectually. For through loving activity the human being's heart opens itself to the influx of God's strength of love, and this promotes his knowledge.... by directing his thoughts correctly and thus taking possession of the truth of his own accord, by giving it to him even without brooding and researching about things which lie outside of human knowledge. A righteous and pleasing way of life before God also earns him the power of realization to distinguish truth from error, and therefore a loving person will never walk in error because he is in contact with God through love and God will never be where error is, thus God's presence excludes all error or ignorance. The human being's feelings will always be turned towards truth, even if the intellect is not exceptionally active, for the right knowledge is the result of love but cannot be achieved through human intellect. However, if a loving person also uses his intellect then he can achieve abundant success by penetrating deepest knowledge, divine wisdom, but then for the purpose of passing it on to his fellow human beings, for divine gift is to be utilized. And again, this gift will be recognized and understood by people who live in love, thus who fulfil God's commandments, His will made known to people, who receive the word of God and let it take effect in their hearts.... who are not only listeners but doers of the divine word....

듣는 사람뿐만 아니라 말씀을 실천하는 사람.

영적인 추구를 하는 사람들은 하나님의 뜻에 부합하는 삶의 방식대로 살기위해 열심히 노력해야 한다. 왜냐면 유일하게 그런 삶이 성공하게 하고, 인간의 영적 성장을 보장하기 때문이다. 단지 생각으로 목표를 달성하기 원하고, 자신의 생각이 행동이 되게 하지 않는 사람은 그의 성장을 멈춘 가운데 머문다. 왜냐면 단지 행동이 비로소 높은 곳을 향한, 하나님을 향한 그의 의지를 증명하기 때문이다. 그러므로 하나님의 뜻대로 사는 사람이, 단지 듣는 사람이 아닌, 그에게 하나님의 뜻을 알려주는 하나님의 말씀대로 행하는 사람이 단지 깨달음 가운데 성장할 수 있다. 그가 이미 받은 지식을 활용한다면, 즉 하나님의 말씀을 따라, 영적이든 세상적이든 이웃을 사랑하는 일을 행하고, 하나님의 뜻에 합당하게 되기 위해 이웃사람의 고통을 덜어주려고 시도한다면, 그의 지식은 비로소 증가될 수 있고 올바른 지식이 될 수 있다.

사람은 그가 이웃 사랑을 행함으로 하나님께 증명하는 사랑을 통해 단지 하나님께 나아갈 수 있다. 단지 이런 길이 그를 목표로 이끈다. 하나님의 말씀을 제공함으로 그에게 먼저 이성적으로 전해진 것을 수행하도록 심장이 촉구해야만 한다. 사람이 행하지 않으면서 이성적으로 끊임없이 지식을 흡수할 수 있고, 이런 일이 그의 영적인 성장을 촉진시키지 않고, 지식은 죽은 영적인 재산으로 머문다. 왜냐면 영적인 지식이 활용되지 못하기 때문이다.

그러므로 하나님의 뜻에 따른 삶이 영적으로 성숙하기 위한 첫 번째 조건이다. 왜냐면 사람이 이성적으로 지식에 침투하려고 하지 않을지라도, 지식이 증가하기 때문이다. 왜냐면 사랑을 행함을 통해 사람의 심장이 하나님의 사랑의 힘의 유입에 자신을 열고, 하나님의 사랑의 힘이, 그의 생각을 올바르게 인도하면서, 즉 그가 고민하고 연구하지 않고도 그가 인간의 지식 밖에 있는 것 들에 대한 지식이 그에게 주어지면서, 그 자신이 진리를 소유하기 때문이다.

하나님 앞에 의롭고 하나님을 기쁘게 하는 삶의 방식이 그에게 진리와 오류를 구별할 수 있는 깨달음의 힘을 준다. 그러므로 사랑을 행하는 사람은 절대로 오류에 빠지지 않게 된다. 왜냐면 그가 사랑을 통해 하나님과 연결되어 있고, 오류가 있는 곳에, 하나님이 절대로 거할 수 없기 때문이다. 즉 하나님의 임재가 모든 오류나 모든 무지를 사라지게 한다. 그의 느낌은, 비록 이성이 특별하게 활동하지 않는다 할지라도, 항상 진리를 향하게 될 것이다. 왜냐면 올바른 지식은 사랑의 결과이고, 인간의 이성으로는 올바른 지식을 얻을 수 없기 때문이다.

그러나 사랑을 행하는 사람이 자신의 이성을 사용한다면, 그는 자신의 이웃사람들에게 전해주기 위한 목적으로 가장 깊은 지식 안으로, 하나님의 지혜 안으로 들어가면서 큰 성공을 할 수 있다. 왜냐면 하나님의 선물이 활용되야 하기 때문이다. 사랑의 삶을 사는 사람이, 즉 하나님의 계명을 성취하고, 하나님이 사람들에게 알려준 뜻을 성취시키고, 하나님의 말씀을 영접하고, 심장 안에서 역사하게 하고, 단지 듣는 사람이 아니라 하나님의 말씀을 행하는 사람들이 이런 선물을 깨닫고 이해하게 될 것이다.
