Responsibility of the soul in earthly life....

The responsibility the human being bears towards his soul in his earthly life must be made known to him, and this happens through instruction in the divine teaching which is offered to the human being as the teaching of Christ and which shows him the clear path he has to take. The knowledge of this must be imparted to him, otherwise he could not be held responsible. He must know that the body is capable of doing everything but that it does much at the expense of the soul; however, only the soul needs to take responsibility for itself and therefore it must muster the strength to deny the body what is beneficial to it but detrimental to the soul. And the soul alone determines what the body does. For the body without the soul is dead, so it is the soul that gives it life, because willing, thinking and feeling emanate from the soul, i.e. it is, as it were, the epitome of the soul. If now the thinking, feeling and willing is only turned towards the body and only its desire is fulfilled, then the soul must live in want, and its meagerness will become apparent when it has to answer for its life on earth. For the body passes away and therefore does not need to bear the consequences of the wrong way of life, while the soul has to suffer according to its earthly life. And this must be presented to man on earth so that he does not act out of ignorance but is rather aware of his responsibility. And this knowledge is imparted to him by the Christian teaching, which prescribes to man exactly what he should and should not do, which clearly and distinctly expresses God's will to him and which presents to him everything that is man's task on earth. If the human being lives in accordance with this Christian teaching, he will turn his attention to the shaping of his soul and pay less attention to his body, and he will never again need to fear future responsibility. He has then, so to speak, fulfilled his earthly task, namely moulding his soul, which requires the body to be set aside. And as soon as the body is valued less, the soul takes the course of higher development, namely it pays more attention to the spirit within itself and is instructed by it in everything that is beneficial for the soul to know and which brings it an increased state of maturity. And then it no longer needs to fear responsibility, it lives earthly life in accordance with God's will because it respects His voice which speaks to it through the spirit in the human being. For as soon as the human being allows the teaching of Christ to have an effect on him, he will do everything that Jesus Christ demanded of humanity. He will work in love and serve God and his neighbour, he will not ignore what God puts to the heart of man through His word. He will make the divine teaching of love the guiding principle for his earthly life and try to mould himself into love, his will and his deeds will be in accordance and always turned towards the good, and he will never fear responsibility, for he lives his earthly life according to Jesus' example, he tries to follow Him and is intimately and faithfully united with God. He has overcome the body and its demands, and the soul has united with the spirit in him....

이 땅의 삶에서 혼의 책임.

인간의 이 땅의 삶이 그의 혼에 대해 어떤 책임을 져야하는 지에 대해 인간에게 알려줘야만 한다. 이 일은 하나님의 가르침을 전해주는 일을 통해 일어난다. 이 하나님의 가르침은 인간에게 그리스도의 가르침으로 제공되고, 인간이 가야만 하는 길을 선명하게 보여준다. 그러므로 이에 관한 지식이 그에게 전달돼야만 한다. 그렇지 않으면 그에게 책임을 물을 수 없다. 그는 육체가 모든 것을 할 수 있지만, 그러나 혼을 희생시키면서 많은 일을 행한다는 것을 알아야만 한다. 그러나 단지 혼이 책임을 지게 된다. 그러므로 혼은 몸에는 유익하지만 혼에게는 불리한 것을 거부할 힘을 모아야 한다.

혼이 유일하게 몸이 하는 일을 정한다. 왜냐면 혼이 없는 육체는 죽었기 때문이다. 그러므로 혼이 비로소 그에게 생명을 준다. 왜냐면 원하고, 생각하고, 느끼는 일이 혼에서 나오고, 이런 일들이 혼의 역활이기 때문이다. 이제 생각과 느낌과 의지가 단지 육체로 향하고, 단지 육체의 욕망만을 충족시킨다면, 혼은 굶주려야만 하고, 이 땅의 삶에 대한 책임을 져야만 하게 될 때, 혼의 궁핍함이 드러나게 될 것이다. 왜냐면 육체는 사라지고, 따라서 잘못된 삶의 방식에 대한 결과를 감당할 필요가 없는 반면에, 혼은 혼의 이 땅의 삶에 따라 고통을 받아야만 하기 때문이다.

이를 이 땅의 사람들에게 알려줘야만 한다. 이로써 사람이 무지한 가운데 행하지 않게 되고, 더 나아가 자신의 책임을 의식하게 해야 한다. 사람에게 그가 해야 할 일과 하지 말아야 할 일을 정확하게 규정하는 기독교의 가르침이 사람에게 이런 지식을 준다. 기독교의 가르침은 그에게 하나님의 뜻을 분명하게 알려주고, 이 땅의 인간의 과제가 무엇인지에 대한 모든 것을 알게 한다. 인간이 이런 기독교의 가르침에 따라 산다면, 그는 혼을 형성하는 일에 관심을 돌리고, 육체에는 덜 관심을 기울인다. 그는 언젠가 책임으로 인해 두려워할 필요가 없게 될 것이다. 그러면 그는 어떤 의미에서 자신의 이 땅의 과제를 완수했다. 다시 말해 몸을 뒤로 물러나게 하는 일이 요구되는 자신의 혼을 형성했다.

몸에 덜 주의를 기울이게 되면, 혼은 더 높은 성장과정을 가게 된다. 다시 말해 혼은 자신 안의 영에게 더 많은 관심을 기울이고, 영에 의해 혼에게 유익한 모든 것과 혼을 더 높게 성장하게 해주는 모든 것에 대한 가르침을 받는다. 그러면 혼은 더 이상 책임을 두려워할 필요가 없다. 혼은 하나님의 뜻에 따라 이 땅의 삶을 산다. 왜냐면 혼이 인간의 영을 통해 혼에게 말하는 하나님의 음성에 주의를 기울이고, 사람이 그리스도의 가르침을 자신에게 작용시키면, 그가 예수 그리스도가 인류에게 요구하는 모든 일을 행할 것이기 때문이다.

그는 사랑 안에서 일하고, 하나님과 이웃사람을 섬길 것이다. 그는 하나님이 자신의 말씀을 통해 사람들의 심장에 준 것을 무시하지 않을 것이다. 그는 하나님의 사랑의 가르침을 이 땅의 삶에 대한 지침으로 삼고, 자신을 사랑으로 만들려고 시도할 것이다. 그의 의지와 행동은 일치가 되고, 항상 선을 향하게 될 것이다. 그는 절대로 책임 때문에 두려워하지 않게 될 것이다. 왜냐면 그는 자신의 이 땅의 삶을 예수님의 모범에 따라 살고, 예수님을 따르려고 노력하고, 하나님과 긴밀하고 신실하게 연결되어 있기 때문이다. 그는 육체와 육체의 요구를 극복했고, 혼은 자신 안의 영과 하나가 되었다.
