Co-worker of the lord.... labour of love for the souls of our fellow human beings....

There is no more valuable service to God than to save the souls of fellow human beings from spiritual death, for then the human being is truly serving God because he is helping to return to Him what has emerged from God. God's love is constantly turned towards His living creations, and everything came into being for the sake of these creatures, and God is constantly active on behalf of these creatures, and His reign and activity only aims at one.... the return of the spiritual substance which once fell away from Him. If the human being now strives towards the same goal.... of winning back the souls of fellow human beings for God, then he thinks and acts in accordance with God's will, he consciously serves Him by subordinating himself to the divine will and, as it were, being active as His labourer in the work of love.... that he thus makes the same goal his life's task, to lead erring, i.e. God-turned-away souls to Him. Then he serves God in truth, he carries out His will and performs the greatest labour of love for his fellow human beings, for he saves them from eternal death, from the state of complete lifelessness and unimaginable torment.... Man cannot measure how important and valuable his spiritual co-operation is, how many souls he redeems from misery through his active help. And yet the thought must spur him on to eager co-operation, that he joins God's activity of love, that he carries out on a small scale, as it were, what is constantly taking place in the great work of creation through the beings of light which are in closest union with God.... The divine power current is passed on, His radiation of love, as soon as the human being, driven by love for his fellow human beings, wants to help them.... If he gives love to his fellow human being, then the power of God flows over to him and can become effective by awakening love again. And then the person comes closer to God, his soul longs to return to God.... Then the human being has succeeded in winning the soul of his fellow human being for God and kept it away from unthinkable suffering, he has accomplished a work of love in the full awareness of serving God with it and is therefore a faithful co-worker of the lord who knows no other goal than to work with God and for God in order to win souls for eternity....

주님의 동역자. 이웃 사람의 혼을 위한 사랑의 역사.

이웃 사람의 혼을 영적인 죽음에서 구하는 일보다 더 귀중한 예배는 없다. 왜냐하면 그러면 사람이 진정으로 하나님을 섬기기 때문이다. 왜냐하면 그가 하나님에 의해 생성된 존재를 하나님께 돌려주는 일에 기여하기 때문이다. 하나님의 사랑은 끊임없이 자신의 피조물에게 향하고, 피조물을 위해 모든 것이 생성되었고, 피조물을 위해 하나님이 끊임없이 일한다. 그의 통치와 사역은 한때 자신에게서 멀어졌던 영적인 존재들이 귀환하는 단 하나의 목적만을 가지고 있다.

사람이 이제 이웃 사람의 혼을 하나님을 위해 다시 얻는 같은 목표를 추구한다면, 그는 하나님의 뜻대로 생각하고 행동한다. 그는 자신을 하나님의 뜻에 복종시키면서, 동시에 하나님의 일꾼으로 사랑의 역사에 참여하면서, 의식적으로 하나님을 섬긴다. 그러므로 그는 오류에 빠진 혼을, 즉 하나님을 떠난 혼을 하나님께 데려가는 같은 목표를 자신의 삶의 과제로 만든다. 그러면 그는 진실로 하나님을 섬기고, 하나님의 뜻을 수행하고, 이웃 사람을 위해 가장 큰 사랑의 역사를 한다. 왜냐하면 그는 그들을 영원한 죽음에서, 완전한 생명이 없는 상태와 상상할 수 없는 고통의 상태에서 구하기 때문이다.

인간은 자신의 영적인 동역이 얼마나 중요하고 가치가 있는 지, 적극적인 도움을 통해 얼마나 많은 혼들이 환난에서 구원을 받는 지를 측량할 수 없다. 그러나 그가 하나님의 사랑 역사에 동참하고, 동시에 작은 규모로 하나님과 가장 가깝게 연합되어 있는 빛의 존재를 통해 창조의 위대한 역사 가운데 지속적으로 일어나는 것을 수행한다는 생각이 그가 열심히 동역하도록 자극해줘야만 한다. 인간이 이웃 사람을 향한 사랑에 이끌려, 이웃사람들을 돕기 원하면, 하나님의 힘의 흐름이, 하나님의 사랑의 광채가 전달된다.

그가 이웃사람에게 사랑을 주면, 하나님의 힘이 이웃사람에게 흘러 가고, 이웃사람들의 사랑이 다시 깨어나는 효력을 나타낼 수 있다. 그러면 사람은 하나님께 더 가까이 다가 가고, 그의 혼은 하나님께 돌아가기를 갈망한다. 그러면 인간은 하나님을 위해 이웃 사람의 혼을 얻었고, 이웃사람이 엄청난 고통을 피하게 해주는 역사를 이뤘고, 이로써 하나님을 섬기려는 전적인 의식으로 사랑의 역사를 완수했다. 다시 말해 그는 영원을 위해 혼들을 얻기 위해 하나님과 함께 하나님을 위해 일하는 목표 외에는 다른 목표를 알지 못하는 주님의 충성스러운 동역자이다.
