Divine spiritual activity requires undoubted faith, because divine spiritual activity is the influx of power from God, which understandably can never be granted to a person who is not a full believer. What the spirit from God imparts to man is often incomprehensible to the human mind. Faith, however, affirms everything, even if the intellect cannot grasp it. But if God makes Himself known through the spirit, then He also wants what He gives to be accepted in faith, for His gift is too precious to be given to those who are weak in faith and would therefore doubt the divine truth. To the believer nothing seems impossible, nothing incomprehensible and nothing impracticable, consequently he accepts every teaching without doubting its truthfulness. Unbelief, however, sets limits; he who stands in unbelief will always raise objections because he does not know the working of the spirit in man, because he knows nothing and because he judges according to his worldly understanding. For the unbeliever will never be able to receive the truth directly, but it must be conveyed to him. Consequently, because he cannot believe, he will reject the communication of the one who allows the spirit from God to work in him, for he is not yet capable of receiving divine truth. Faith must be strong, only then will the human being become such that he submits himself to God in deepest humility. He must believe in God, only then will he endeavour to live in a way that pleases Him. In order to fulfil the will of a power, the power must first be acknowledged, and this is faith.... The human being is inclined to contradict, and he will continue to contradict until the spark of the spirit awakens in him, and then it will enlighten him, and truly in the same way, for the spirit from God cannot proclaim anything other than truth....

(18.11.1941) The believing person recognizes the truth as such, but the unbeliever is convinced that he is being offered untruth and he rejects it. But he also does not have the desire for the truth, otherwise the will to reject would not be so great in him, for the ability to believe is only the consequence of the will to believe. If the human being wants to come to knowledge and finds it difficult to believe, God's love constantly endeavours to help him because his will is decisive. He is mentally instructed, and mentally many wisdoms are brought to him, which he examines again and again, and his will to reject becomes weaker and weaker. This is also an activity of the spirit, only in a different form than the direct communication of wisdom from God, which presupposes full faith. Yet the will for truth is already an affirmation of the eternal deity, thus an unconscious faith, and God increases and strengthens this as soon as the human being is serious about it. If the direct expressions of the spirit are now made accessible to that person he will not immediately affirm them but they will give him cause for reflection. And he will recognize that what is offered to him does not deviate from his thoughts, he will recognize the harmony of what he received mentally and what is now conveyed to him. And thus he learns to believe because he wanted to believe, for he himself unconsciously strives towards God. And God does not let him strive in vain, God lets Himself be found when He is sought and comes to meet him Himself in the form of truth, which he will now recognize as such. The strength from God constantly flows to people and the spirit of God constantly works in those people who shape themselves accordingly so that He can work in them, for God wants to spread the truth, He wants to snatch people from spiritual darkness, and where the spirit of God is at work there is light and brightness....

하나님의 영의 역사가 일어나기 위해 의심하지 않는 믿음이 필요하다.

하나님의 영의 역사가 일어나기 위해 의심하지 않는 믿음이 필요하다. 왜냐하면 하나님의 영의 역사는 전적으로 믿지 않는 사람에게는 절대로 주어질 수 없는 하나님의 힘을 받는 역사이기 때문이다. 하나님의 영이 인간에게 전해주는 것은 자주 인간의 이성으로는 이해할 수 없는 것이다. 그러나 믿음은 이해가 이해하지 못하더라도 모든 것을 인정한다. 그러나 하나님은 영을 통해 자신을 알게 한다. 그러면, 그는 또한 자신이 주는 것이 믿음으로 영접받기를 원한다. 왜냐하면 그가 주는 선물은 믿음이 약한 사람들에게, 즉 하나님의 진리를 의심할 사람들에게 주어지기에는 너무 귀한 것이기 때문이다.

믿는 사람에게는 어떤 일도 불가능한 일이 없고, 어떤 것도 이해할 수 없는 것이 없고, 어떤 일도 수행할 수 없는 일이 없다. 결과적으로 그는 모든 가르침의 진실성을 의심하지 않고, 모든 가르침을 영접한다. 그러나 불신은 제한을 가한다. 믿지 않는 사람은 항상 이의를 제기할 것이다. 왜냐면 그가 사람 안의 영의 역사를 알지 못하고, 그가 아무것도 알지 못하고, 그가 이제 자신의 세상적인 이성에 따라 판단하기 때문이다. 믿지 않는 사람은 절대로 진리를 직접 받을 수 없고, 그에게 전해줘야만 한다. 결과적으로 그가 믿을 수 없기 때문에, 그는 하나님으로부터 온 영이 자신 안에서 역사하게 하는 존재가 전해주는 내용을 거부할 것이다. 그가 아직 하나님의 진리를 받을 수 있는 능력이 없기 때문이다.

믿음은 강해야만 한다. 그러면 비로소 사람이 가장 깊은 겸손으로 하나님께 순종하게 된다. 그가 하나님을 믿어야만 한다. 그러면 그는 비로소 하나님을 기쁘게 하는 삶을 살려고 노력할 것이다. 한 권세의 의지를 성취시키기 위해서는 먼저 그런 권세를 인정해야만 한다. 이것이 바로 믿음이다. 사람 안에는 반박하려는 성향이 있고, 그 안의 영의 불씨가 깨어날 때까지 그는 반박을 하게 될 것이다. 영의 불씨가 이제 그에게 같은 방식으로 설명을 해준다. 왜냐하면 하나님으로부터 온 영은 진리 외에는 다른 어떤 것도 선포할 수 없기 때문이다.

(1941년 11월 18일) 믿는 사람은 진리를 진리로 깨닫는다. 그러나 하지만 믿지 않는 사람은 자신이 진리가 아닌 것을 받았다고 확신하고, 그는 거부한다. 그러나 그는 또한 진리를 향한 갈망이 없다. 그렇지 않으면 그 안의 거절하려는 의지가 그다지 크지 않을 것이다. 왜냐하면 믿을 수 있다는 일은 먼저 믿기 원한 결과이기 때문이다. 사람이 깨달음에 도달하기 원하고, 그에게 믿기가 어렵다면, 하나님의 사랑은 끊임없이 그를 위해 노력한다. 왜냐면 그의 의지가 결정적이기 때문이다.

그는 생각을 통해 가르침을 받게 될 것이고, 생각을 통해 그에게 많은 지혜를 이해할 수 있게 될 것이다. 그는 이를 항상 또 다시 점검하게 될 것이고, 그의 거부하려는 의지는 점점 약해진다. 이런 역사는 또한 완전한 믿음을 전제로 하는 하나님으로부터 직접 지혜를 전달받는 것과는 다른 형태의 영의 역사이다. 그러나 진리를 향한 의지는 이미 영원한 신성을 인정하는 것이고, 무의식적인 믿음이다. 하나님은, 사람에게 믿는 일이 진지하면, 이런 믿음을 증가시키고, 강하게 한다.

그런 사람에게 이제 영의 직접적인 표현을 이해할 수 있게 해주면, 비록 그가 즉시 긍정으로 자세를 갖지는 않지만, 그가 이를 생각하게 만드는 계기가 될 것이다. 그는 자신에게 제공된 것이 그의 생각의 내용에서 벗어나지 않는다는 것을 깨닫게 될 것이고, 그는 생각을 통해 자신이 받은 것과 그에게 이제 전해진 것이 일치함을 깨닫게 될 것이다. 그가 믿기를 원하기 때문에, 그가 스스로 의식하지 못하는 가운데 하나님을 추구하기 때문에, 그는 믿는 법을 배우게 된다. 하나님은 그가 헛된 추구를 하지 않게 한다. 하나님은 그가 자신을 구하면, 자신을 발견하게 하고, 그는 이제 진리로 깨닫게 될 진리의 형체 안에서 그를 향해 다가간다.

하나님의 힘이 그런 사람에게 쉬지 않고 흐른다. 하나님의 영은, 하나님이 사람 안에서 역사할 수 있게 합당하게 자신을 형성한 사람 안에서 쉬지 않고 역사한다. 왜냐하면 하나님은 진리를 전파하기를 원하고, 영적 어두움에서 사람들이 벗어나기를 원하고, 하나님의 영이 역사하는 곳에 빛과 밝음이 있기 때문이다.
