Misuse of the gifts which distinguish the human being from the animal....

Unadulterated pleasure in life is the goal and endeavour of every person who still lives in darkest spiritual night on earth. And as soon as he achieves it he will enjoy his life to the full and only live for his body while his soul goes without, and if the human being is satisfied with purely physical pleasures his state can be called exceedingly imperfect. It testifies to a purely materialistic attitude, for then the human beings will merely be an empty shell, he cannot be deemed any more, that is, more highly advanced than a creature which lacks intellect and free will, for the latter is not being used or is used in a completely wrong way by the person. The gifts which distinguish the human being from the animal are intended to achieve the soul's higher development; their use shall merely manage to achieve the soul's transformation. The human being, however, only uses these gifts to enhance his body's well-being, and thus he is misusing them. In this case the circumstances of the individual person are not important, for the striving for the pleasures of life in itself is a misuse of his received energy of life and the gifts bestowed upon him by God's love. As to whether he will find fulfilment in his life does not change the fact that his desire worsens the darkness of soul, for his thoughts and intentions impede the soul's actual task. Hence the person's life can remain empty and deprived of earthly pleasure and still not gain him psychological higher development because his desire is orientated towards earthly pleasure. Fulfilment is often denied to them in order to redirect their thoughts and intentions towards spiritual experiences, and yet they fail to find the path into the spiritual kingdom. Their highest goal is and remains earthly happiness.... And such an attitude will not reduce their distance from God, thus it is the cause of a deficiency which will have far-reaching consequences at the end of their earthly life, and this deficiency can no longer be rectified once the soul has left its earthly body.

On the other hand, a short time on earth can suffice to make up for what had been neglected if the human being takes the shaping of his soul seriously. This is why ever more opportunities will approach the human being in his latter years of life which he only needs to make use of and which, if he is willing, can bring him incomparable blessings, for God will not leave misguided souls without help even if the human being does not acknowledge Him, i.e., even if through his attitude towards worldly pleasures and earthly possessions he turns towards God's adversary. He struggles for his soul until his death. Time and again He is willing to help and guides him such that his thoughts will be turned to spiritual spheres. And time and again his will is given an opportunity to make a decision. For divine love is such that it will not let go of whatever wants to withdraw from Him. Even so, God will never decisively intervene in the human being's will but so evidently bring those people together who can complement each other, i.e., He brings badly informed people in contact with those who can serve them in a giving and instructive way. This task is often difficult as long as the world is still alluring, which weakens the will for the acceptance of spiritual truths. Yet occasionally just slight attempts will suffice to make a human being receptive to them.... namely, when the world gives him very little.... Unfulfilled desire can also lead to overcoming the desire, in which case it was richly blessed. Then the person's struggle with himself, against his own craving, was made easy for him by denying him the satisfaction. And this, too, is God's grace, which can lead to the right decision of the free will. One day people will thank God for what they so bitterly and harshly condemn, if it was successful.... or they will suffer bitter regret if their will ignored this grace as well....

L’abuso dei Doni che distinguono l’uomo dall’animale

Il godimento offuscato della vita è meta e tendere di quell’uomo, che cammina sulla Terra ancora nella più oscura notte dello spirito. E come trova adempimento, degusta fino in fondo la vita e vive solo secondo il corpo mentre l’anima ne esce vuota. E questo stato è da chiamare estremamente imperfetto, quando l’uomo si accontenta solo di godimenti corporei. Questo testimonia di una predisposizione puramente materiale, allora l’uomo è semplicemente una forma senza contenuto, non è da valutare più in alto di ogni creatura, alla quale manca sia l’intelletto che la libera volontà, perché quest’ultima non è utilizzata dall’uomo oppure lo è in un modo totalmente sbagliato. I Doni che distinguono l’uomo dall’animale, devono avere per scopo lo sviluppo verso l’Alto dell’anima, il loroo impiego deve semplicemente produrre la trasformazione dell’anima. Ma l’uomo utilizza questi Doni soltanto per un aumentato benessere del corpo, e quindi ne abusa. La situazione della vita del singolo in ciò non è determinante, perché già il tendere verso il godimento della vita è un abuso della forza vitale che gli arriva e dei Doni regalatigli tramite l’Amore di Dio. Che la vita gli porti l’adempimento o no, il fatto non cambia, che con il suo desiderio aggrava l’oscurità della sua anima, perché il tendere e guardare verso ciò, trattiene l’anima dal suo vero compito. Quindi la vita può rimanere comunque vuota e povera di gioie terrene e non gli importa dello sviluppo animico verso l’Alto, perché il desiderio è rivolto al godimento terreno. Molti non trovano l’adempimento, per distoglierli dal loro tendere e cercare, verso l’esperienza spirituale, e non trovano lo stesso la via nel Regno spirituale. Per loro la meta più alta è e rimane la felicità terrena. Ed una tale predisposizione non diminuisce la distanza da Dio, è quindi la causa della conseguenza di un inimmaginabile ammanco alla fine della vita terrena. E questo ammanco non si può più appianare quando l’anima ha lasciato il corpo terreno. D’altra parte può bastare un breve tempo terreno per recuperare l’ammanco, quando l’uomo prende sul serio la formazione della sua anima. E perciò negli ultimi anni di vita si presentano all’uomo sempre più sovente delle occasioni, che lui deve soltanto utilizzare e che gli possono procurare, se è volonteroso, incomparabile benedizione, perché Dio non lascia delle anime erranti senza Assistenza, anche se l’uomo non l’ammette, cioè mediante la sua predisposizione per gioie terrene e bene terreno, si rivolge all’avversario di Dio. Egli lotta per quest’anima fino alla sua morte. Egli è sempre pronto con il Suo Aiuto e lo guida in modo che i suoi pensieri vengano orientati verso la regione spirituale. Ed alla sua volontà viene sempre di nuovo data l’opportunità di decidersi. Perché questo è Amore divino che non lascia cadere ciò che vuole sottrarsi a Lui. Ma Dio non interverrà mai nella volontà dell’uomo in modo decisivo, ma guiderà gli uomini insieme in modo così evidente che si possono completare, cioè Egli porta in collegamento degli uomini ignari con quelli che possono servire loro nel dare ed insegnare. E’ sovente un compito arduo, finché il mondo è ancora stimolante, e perciò la volontà è indebolita per l’accoglimento di Verità spirituali. Ma a volte bastano anche solo pochi tentativi, affinché l’uomo ne diventi ricettivo, e cioè, quando il mondo lo fornisce scarsamente. Un desiderare inadempiuto può anche portare al superamento di quel desiderio ed allora questo evento sarà ricco di benedizione. Allora all’uomo è stata resa facile la lotta contro sé stesso, contro le proprie brame, mentre gli è rimasto rifiutato l’adempimento. Ed anche questo è un Dono di Dio, che può condurre alla giusta decisione della libera volontà. Quello che gli uomini sovente condannano come amaro e duro, per questo ringrazieranno un giorno Iddio, quando ha procurato il giusto successo, oppure se ne pentono amaramente, quando la loro volontà ha lasciata inosservata anche questa Grazia.
