Souls of the deceased close to earth....

As long as the souls of the deceased still think of and desire earthly possessions and pleasures they will stay within the proximity of earth. Through their longing they are connected with everything they desire and will always stay close to it. Even in the beyond they cannot easily detach themselves from what they loved on earth, with the result that they find it difficult to strive to ascend in the beyond. Spiritual maturing becomes questionable while earthly desire is still captivating the soul, for desire generally excludes giving until the soul desires spiritual nourishment. Receiving this will also awaken or increase its urge to give. But if it is not yet receptive to spiritual sustenance it will not be offered to the soul, for then it has not yet completely separated itself from earth and would never recognise the value of what is desired in the spiritual kingdom as the most precious possession. However, the desire for earthly possessions shows a lack of maturity of soul, and thus earth is surrounded by numerous souls in an inadequate state of maturity, which cannot detach themselves from what seemed dear and desirable to them in earthly life. Such souls can only be helped by prayer, for a loving prayer lets them feel something which they haven't felt until then.... they receive a flow of spiritual strength, which triggers in them something entirely different than the fulfilment of earthly longing. This influx of strength makes them feel extremely happy and they gradually turn away from the goals they had sought after until then. And thus a human being on earth can bestow upon the deceased immense help and a tremendous labour of love if he often forwards a prayer to them, which initiates a detachment from earth and its formerly loved surroundings. All earthly things are a hindrance to higher development, only when the longing for it is fought will spiritual matters step into the forefront, and only then will the ascending progress in the beyond begin, and the sooner the spiritual endeavour starts in the beyond the less the soul will have to fight, for the earthly longing will constantly lessen, the soul will distance itself from earth ever more, and it will have overcome matter when it feels the desire for spiritual possessions.... Then it will not just desire but also want to give, and this is the beginning of the ascent to the pinnacle....

Seelen der Verstorbenen in Erdennähe....

Die Seelen der Verstorbenen halten sich so lange in Erdennähe auf, wie ihre Gedanken und ihr Verlangen noch den irdischen Gütern und Genüssen gilt. Sie sind mit allem, was sie begehren, verbunden durch das Verlangen und werden sich immer in der Nähe dessen aufhalten. Was sie liebten auf Erden, davon können sie sich auch im Jenseits nicht so leicht trennen, und die Folge davon ist, daß es ihnen schwer ist, im Jenseits zur Höhe zu streben. Nimmt noch irdisches Begehren die Seele gefangen, so ist das geistige Ausreifen in Frage gestellt, denn ein Begehren schaltet zumeist ein Geben aus so lange, bis die Seele geistige Speise begehrt. Die Zuwendung derer wird auch den Drang zum Geben in ihr erwecken oder vermehren. Ist sie aber noch nicht aufnahmefähig für geistige Kost, so wird ihr diese auch nicht geboten, denn dann hat sie sich noch nicht restlos gelöst von der Erde und würde niemals den Wert dessen erkennen, was im geistigen Reich als Kostbarstes begehrt wird. Es ist aber das Verlangen nach irdischem Gut ein Mangel an Seelenreife, und so ist die Erde umgeben von zahlreichen Seelen im mangelhaften Reifezustand, die sich nicht lösen können von dem, was ihnen im Erdenleben lieb und begehrenswert erschien. Solchen Seelen kann nur durch Gebet Hilfe gebracht werden, denn ein Gebet in Liebe läßt sie etwas empfinden, was sie bisher nicht kannten.... Es strömt ihnen geistige Kraft zu, die etwas ganz anderes in ihnen auslöst als die Erfüllung irdischer Begierde. Sie empfinden dieses Zuströmen der Kraft ungemein beglückend und wenden sich nun langsam von ihren bisher erstrebten Zielen ab. Und so kann der Mensch auf Erden den Verstorbenen die größte Hilfe und den größten Liebesdienst erweisen, so er ihnen oft ein Gebet nachsendet, das Anlaß ist zum Lösen von der Erde und der ihm lieb gewesenen Umgebung. Alles Irdische hält die Seele von der Höherentwicklung zurück, erst wenn das Verlangen danach bekämpft wird, tritt das Geistige in den Vordergrund, und dann erst beginnt der Aufstieg zur Höhe im Jenseits, und je früher das geistige Streben im Jenseits einsetzt, desto weniger Kampf hat die Seele auszufechten, denn das irdische Verlangen wird immer schwächer werden, die Seele wird sich immer mehr von der Erde entfernen, dann erst hat sie die Materie überwunden, wenn sie Verlangen nach geistigem Gut verspürt.... Dann wird sie nicht nur begehren, sondern auch geben wollen, und dies ist der Beginn des Aufstieges zur Höhe....
