Light-filled or lightless and powerless state in the afterlife....

The human being's departure from earth is such a significant process because all physical forces fall away from him in order to be replaced by spiritual forces, or.... where this is not possible due to the soul's lack of maturity it means a powerless state for the soul. Both the influx of spiritual strength and the loss of it are perceptible to the soul, for it feels, just as in earthly life, the lack and the abundance of what is now flowing towards it as agony or as happiness. It feels transported into a state that is free of any physical heaviness, but its sensations determine the degree of well-being. After a short rest the soul will either be active or it will remain in an agonizing inactivity and will not be able to free itself from it. The unredeemed soul lacks strength and the realization of this is unspeakably oppressive. It is bound, it is in a situation in which it does not feel well and cannot free itself from it. It has a desire for earthly things and this desire remains unfulfilled. It is in a joyless gloomy place and wants to escape from it, but it holds it back as if with chains in the place where it is staying. Its whole state is discomfort, because it is not deprived of its sensory faculty, because it can only see with spiritual eyes, but these are still very weak, so that it is unable to see anything and is therefore in a completely lightless region. And the powerless state is extremely agonizing for it because it still knows about the state on earth and therefore knows that it has gone backwards. And now it depends on how the realization of its situation affects its will, which it likewise still possesses unchanged. Its situation is so bleak that it is forced to reflect on it; it can now either apathetically accept everything although it does not like the state.... The powerlessness can be so great that its will is likewise inactive, that it does nothing to change the situation, i.e. that it does not muster the will to change it. Then it will always remain in the same situation until the soul can no longer endure the agony and longs for other surroundings. But it can also remember in bitterness and hatred the one Who imposed this state on the soul. It can quarrel with its fate and allow all its bad instincts to break through in thought and will. Then it itself aggravates its condition and it becomes ever more lightless and ever more bound. For now it is beset by the forces of the underworld, which seek to win it over completely. On the other hand, however, beings from the kingdom of light also approach it, albeit in disguise, and try to persuade it to become active itself in order to transform its dark state into one full of light. And again the will is decisive as to which urge the soul gives in to. A longing thought upwards already brings it relief and can be the beginning of the path upwards. The will alone is decisive, and it will either bring deepened agony or redemption of the soul and at the same time cause the supply of strength.... The powerless being only needs to want that power flows to it, then this will also be imparted to it.... However, as long as the will is inactive and does not strive for such, no change in its situation in a favourable sense will occur. The supply of strength alone determines the soul's state of happiness in the beyond. A soul that receives strength immediately upon entering the spiritual kingdom is a blissful creature. It can now do nothing but be active, for the supply of strength increases its urge to be active. It feels so happy that it does not want to and cannot carry the happiness alone, that it is in need of communication and wants to give of its strength to the unhappy souls, because its feeling is full of deepest compassion for the still immature souls who have to live in want. And it stands in the midst of the light, and this also allows it to recognize.... both the delights of bliss and the suffering of unredeemed beings. It now wants to carry light over into the realm of darkness, it wants to help the souls in need and now starts its activity by seeking access to the unhappy souls and tries to mentally influence them to free themselves from their lethargy and to strive, i.e., like it, to help those who are still deeper in spiritual night.... If it succeeds in this, then it has kindled love in the immature souls, and then their work on themselves begins. The desire to help is the only way to improve their situation, and once the will has become active in this direction there is only one ascent for the soul, for it will receive strength to the same extent as it needs it to help other unhappy souls. Love is the only redeeming power. Without love there is no way out of the powerless state; but once love breaks through, the agonizing, lightless state will soon be overcome, the surroundings will become increasingly brighter and clearer for the soul, the desire for light will become stronger, and accordingly the strength will flow to it, which triggers the state of bliss in the soul and is again the impetus for the highest activity.... to redeeming activity in the beyond....

Lichtvoller oder licht- und kraftloser Zustand im Jenseits....

Das Abscheiden des Menschen von der Erde ist ein Vorgang, der so bedeutsam ist, fallen doch alle körperlichen Kräfte von ihm ab, um durch geistige Kräfte ersetzt zu werden, oder.... wo dies der mangelnden Seelenreife wegen nicht möglich ist, einen kraftlosen Zustand für die Seele bedeutet. Sowohl das Zuströmen der geistigen Kraft als das Verlieren derselben ist der Seele spürbar, denn sie empfindet, genau wie im Erdenleben, den Mangel und die Fülle dessen, was ihr nun zuströmt, als Qual oder als Beglückung. Sie fühlt sich in einen Zustand versetzt, der wohl frei ist von jeder Körperschwere, doch ihre Empfindungen bestimmen den Grad des Wohlbehagens. Es wird nach einer kurzen Ruhepause die Seele nun entweder rührig tätig sein, oder sie wird in einer qualvollen Untätigkeit verharren und sich von dieser selbst nicht frei machen können. Der unerlösten Seele fehlt die Kraft, und das Erkennen dessen ist unsagbar bedrückend. Sie ist wie gefesselt, sie ist in einer Lage, in der sie sich nicht wohl fühlt, und kann sich nicht davon befreien. Sie hat Verlangen nach irdischen Dingen, und das Verlangen bleibt unerfüllt. Sie ist in einer freudlosen düsteren Gegend und möchte ihr entfliehen, aber es hält sie wie mit Ketten an dem Ort ihres Aufenthaltes zurück. Ihr ganzer Zustand ist Mißbehagen, weil ihr das Empfindungsvermögen nicht genommen ist, weil sie nur mit geistigen Augen sehen kann, diese aber noch sehr schwach sind, daß sie nichts zu sehen vermag, also in völlig lichtloser Gegend sich befindet. Und der kraftlose Zustand ist für sie äußerst qualvoll, da sie noch um den Zustand auf der Erde weiß und sich also rückschrittlich gegangen weiß. Und nun kommt es darauf an, wie das Erkennen ihrer Lage sich auswirkt auf ihren Willen, den sie gleichfalls noch unverändert besitzt. Ihre Lage ist so trostlos, daß sie zum Nachdenken darüber gezwungen ist; sie kann nun entweder apathisch alles über sich ergehen lassen, obgleich ihr der Zustand nicht behagt.... Es kann die Kraftlosigkeit so groß sein, daß ihr Wille gleichfalls untätig ist, daß sie nichts beginnt, um den Zustand zu ändern, d.h., daß sie auch nicht den Willen aufbringt zu einer Änderung dieses Zustandes. Dann wird sie immer in der gleichen Lage verharren so lange, bis die Seele die Qual nicht mehr aushalten kann und nach anderer Umgebung verlangt. Sie kann aber auch in Verbitterung und Haß Dessen gedenken, Der diesen Zustand der Seele auferlegt hat. Sie kann mit ihrem Schicksal hadern und alle schlechten Triebe zum Durchbruch kommen lassen in Gedanken und im Wollen. Dann verschlimmert sie selbst ihren Zustand, und dieser wird immer lichtloser und immer gebundener. Denn nun wird sie von den Kräften der Unterwelt bedrängt, die sie ganz für sich zu gewinnen suchen. Andererseits aber kommen ihr auch Wesen des Lichtreiches, jedoch verhüllt, entgegen und suchen sie zu bewegen, selbst tätig zu werden, um ihren dunklen Zustand in einen lichtvolleren zu wandeln. Und wieder ist der Wille entscheidend, welchem Drängen die Seele nachgibt. Ein verlangender Gedanke nach oben trägt ihr schon Erleichterung ein und kann der Anfang des Weges zur Höhe sein. Der Wille allein ist entscheidend, und er wird entweder vertiefte Qualen oder Erlösung der Seele bringen und gleichzeitig die Kraftzufuhr veranlassen.... Das kraftlose Wesen braucht nur zu wollen, daß ihr Kraft zufließe, dann wird ihm diese auch vermittelt.... Solange aber der Wille untätig ist und solche nicht anstrebt, tritt keine Veränderung ihrer Lage in günstigem Sinne ein. Die Kraftzufuhr allein ist bestimmend für den Glückszustand der Seele im Jenseits. Eine Seele, die sofort bei ihrem Eintritt in das geistige Reich Kraft vermittelt bekommt, ist ein glückseliges Geschöpf. Sie kann nun nicht anders als tätig sein, denn die Kraftzufuhr erhöht ihren Tätigkeitsdrang. Sie fühlt sich so glücklich, daß sie das Glück nicht allein tragen will und kann, daß sie mitteilungsbedürftig ist und von ihrer Kraft den unglücklichen Seelen abgeben möchte, weil ihr Empfinden voll tiefsten Mitleids ist für die noch unreifen Seelen, die darben müssen. Und sie steht inmitten des Lichts, und das läßt sie auch erkennen.... sowohl die Wonnen der Glückseligkeit als auch die Leiden der unerlösten Wesen. Sie möchte nun in das Reich der Dunkelheit Licht hinübertragen, sie möchte den Seelen helfen, die in Not sind, und beginnt nun ihre Tätigkeit, indem sie Zugang sucht zu den unglücklichen Seelen und diese gedanklich zu beeinflussen sucht, ihrer Lethargie sich zu entreißen und zu streben, d.h., gleich ihr zu helfen denen, die noch tiefer in geistiger Nacht stehen.... Gelingt ihr dies, dann hat sie die Liebe in den unreifen Seelen entfacht, und dann beginnt deren Arbeit an sich. Das Verlangen zu helfen ist die einzige Möglichkeit zur Verbesserung ihrer Lage, und ist der Wille einmal tätig geworden nach dieser Richtung, dann gibt es für die Seele nur einen Aufstieg, denn es geht ihr die Kraft zu im gleichen Maße, wie sie solche benötigt zur Hilfe an anderen unglücklichen Seelen. Die Liebe ist die einzige erlösende Macht. Ohne Liebe gibt es keinen Ausweg aus dem kraftlosen Zustand; wo aber die Liebe einmal zum Durchbruch kommt, dort ist auch bald der qualvolle, lichtlose Zustand überwunden, die Umgebung wird immer heller und klarer für die Seele ersichtlich sein, das Verlangen nach Licht wird stärker, und dementsprechend fließt ihr auch die Kraft zu, die den Seligkeitszustand in der Seele auslöst und wieder Antrieb ist zur höchsten Betätigung.... zu erlösender Tätigkeit im Jenseits....
