Sense of justice.... Judging one's fellow human being....

The human being has to have an inherent sense of justice or he would be unable to pass judgment on apparently heartless conduct. Anyone who deems himself so exalted that he will not tolerate any objection because he believes himself infallible will never think righteously either, for he does not allow others the same rights he claims for himself. A substantial difference has to be made between people. Anyone being strictly critical of himself and his actions will also always make an effort to judge other people fairly. However, anyone who only looks for faults in his fellow human beings and believes himself without error will regard all conduct from a superior point of view, and thus his judgment is wrong.

Every human being can err; every human being can make mistakes.... Yet he has to know himself, then he can fight his faults and improve himself.... But anyone who does not recognise a fault in himself will not strive for perfection either.

When he acts unkindly he will not be aware of it, he will not hold himself to account and is incapable of judging his actions fairly. He lacks a sense of justice; he will always consider his own actions beyond reproach but try to demean his fellow human being for the least mistake. It has to be clear to the human being that he has no right to accuse a fellow human being of a degrading action as long as he does not live up to a high moral standard himself. He should always consider his own shortcomings if he wants to criticise the failings of other people.

But someone with an inherent sense of justice will not hastily judge someone else, for he will try to put himself into the same situation and then also understand the failings and faults of the other person. However, in order to be able to do so he has to be truthful, he has to see things as they are.... he should not rate himself too highly and underrate his fellow human being, for then he will apply a different standard to his own faults than to the other person's faults, and that excludes all righteous thinking and judgment.

It is exceptionally valuable to firmly call oneself to account, then the human being will stay true to himself and not do his fellow human being an injustice out of selfishness by unfairly condemning his conduct and putting himself above the other person. And thus the human being should first look at himself and his behaviour before he criticises his fellow human being and elevates himself as his judge....

Sentido de justiça.... Condenando o seu próximo ser humano....

O sentimento de justiça deve ser inerente ao ser humano, caso contrário ele não pode julgar uma forma de agir aparentemente pouco amorosa. Aquele que se sentetão exaltado que não tolera nenhuma contradição, porque se crê infalível, jamais pensará com justiça, pois não concede ao homem o mesmo direito que a si mesmo. Há uma grande diferença a ser feita entre as pessoas. Aquele que se sujeita e suas ações a críticas rígidas também sempre se esforçará para julgar as outras pessoas de forma justa. Mas aquele que procura todas as falhas apenas no seu semelhante e acredita estar livre de falhas, olha para cada linha de ação apenas do ponto de vista do sublime, e por isso o seu julgamento está errado. Todo homem pode errar, todo homem pode errar.... Mas ele deve reconhecer-se a si mesmo, então ele pode lutar contra as suas falhas e assim enobrecer-se.... Mas aquele que não reconhece uma falha em si mesmo, não se esforça pela perfeição. Se ele age de forma indelicada, não tem consciência disso, não se dá conta disso e é incapaz de julgar seus atos com justiça. Falta-lhe o sentido da justiça, sempre achará suas próprias ações invioláveis, mas tentará depreciar seu semelhante por erros menores. O homem deve ser claro sobre isso, que ele não tem o direito de censurar o seu semelhante por uma ação ignóbil, desde que ele próprio não se coloque em um nível moralmente elevado. Ele deve sempre pensar na sua própria inadequação quando quer censurar o seu semelhante. Mas aquele que tem um sentido de justiça não será tão rápido a julgar o seu semelhante, pois tentará colocar-se na mesma posição e depois também terá compreensão para as fraquezas e defeitos do outro. Para poder fazer isso, porém, ele também deve ser verdadeiro, ele deve ver as coisas como elas são.... ele não deve pensar muito bem de si mesmo, mas do seu semelhante demasiado baixo, pois então ele medirá as suas próprias falhas com uma bitola diferente das falhas do outro, e isso exclui qualquer pensamento e julgamento justo. É tão incomparavelmente valioso ser rigoroso consigo mesmo, que o ser humano permanece fiel a si mesmo, e não enganará o seu semelhante por amor próprio, condenando injustamente a sua conduta e sentindo-se superior a ele. E assim o ser humano deve primeiro olhar para si próprio e para as suas acções antes de criticar as acções do seu semelhante e elevar-se a si próprio para ser seu juiz....
