spirit - mind.... function of the body.... spirit from God....

Without the gift of inner enlightenment you go through earthly life ignorant. Although you believe yourselves to be knowledgeable because you have been endowed with intellect and reason by the eternal creator, you can only use them in an earthly sense as long as you do not ask God to enlighten your spirit. spirit and intellect are therefore not the same thing; a person can use his intellect without having awakened his spirit within himself. He can achieve the greatest earthly successes through his intellectual thinking and yet walk along in the deepest darkness of the spirit. And in the same way a spirit awakened to life can be extraordinarily active in a person so that it is also recognizable to the outside world, and intellectual thinking need not be used at all.... The human being can now express himself extremely wisely, i.e. bring great knowledge to the attention of his fellow human beings, for which no special intellectual work was necessary. So a well-developed intellect is not absolutely necessary in order to be receptive to divine wisdom. In fact, the human intellect is often an obstacle to the reception of spiritual knowledge, for this wants to penetrate the human heart unhindered but encounters resistance when only intellectual thinking is involved, because earthly wisdom always strives towards divine wisdom as long as the human being does not regocnize the awakened spirit of God as the giver of wisdom. What the spirit from God teaches man does not require the intellect, but the human intellect must also be active in order to utilize what has been taught by the spirit of God. Then man must use the gift of God and thus all abilities given to him are only useful for the higher education of the soul, then these are used according to the will of God. The human being has been given intellect in order to reflect on his earthly existence and its purpose and actual destiny. However, it is least used for this purpose. All intellectual thinking mostly revolves around earthly problems; all mental activity is aimed at improving earthly life, and thus the intellect alone is active, but the spirit from God is not yet at work....

(4.7.1940) Its working is only the result of human efforts to explore spiritual fields, and again these efforts must be based on a deep desire for truth and the knowledge of the eternal divine, but these researches must not be undertaken for the sake of earthly advantage. The spirit from God is by no means perceptible to the human being who is only interested in earthly problems. He claims his intellectual thinking, i.e. the function of his body, for a work which again only appears to be beneficial to the body. And this function is now carried out entirely according to the will of the human being, while.... thus the spirit from God is at work when it is a matter of solving spiritual problems.... the human will is only involved insofar as it leaves itself to the divine spirit; but now the spirit from God orders the thoughts, thus guides the mental activity towards the right realization. The human being is therefore willing to make use of a power that is not unconsciously available to him. And he must bring this power to unfold within himself through active loving activity.... He can therefore increase his intellectual thinking with the guarantee of the full truthfulness of what is the result of his thinking, whereas the activity of the intellect alone is no guarantee of absolute truth. The human being therefore has it in his own hands to considerably increase his knowledge, always with the guarantee that it will be conveyed truthfully if he not only lets his intellect speak but also his heart, for the divine spiritual spark in him can only be awakened emotionally, and this feeling, which has to be cultivated in order to awaken the spirit of God, is love.... Without being active in love, the awakening of the spirit of God is impossible, so pure truth and increased knowledge will always be the result of an extremely active activity of love. spirit and intellect will therefore only be able to work together when the researching human being has already shaped his nature into love and his research is now aimed at solving spiritual problems, although even then earthly thought activity will likewise be guided by God's spirit and thus also guarantee truth....

Geist - Verstand.... Funktion des Körpers.... Geist aus Gott....

Ohne die Gabe der inneren Erleuchtung geht ihr unwissend durch das Erdenleben. Ihr glaubt zwar, wissend zu sein, weil ihr vom ewigen Schöpfer mit Verstand und Vernunft ausgestattet seid, könnet diesen jedoch nur im irdischen Sinne gebrauchen, solange ihr Gott nicht um Erhellung des Geistes bittet. Es ist also Geist und Verstand nicht dasselbe, es kann der Mensch seinen Verstand gebrauchen, ohne seinen Geist in sich erweckt zu haben. Er kann durch sein Verstandesdenken größte irdische Erfolge verzeichnen können und doch in tiefster Dunkelheit des Geistes einhergehen. Und gleicherweise kann ein zum Leben erweckter Geist im Menschen außerordentlich tätig sein, so daß er auch nach außen erkennbar ist, und es braucht das Verstandesdenken durchaus nicht in Anspruch genommen werden.... Es kann der Mensch nun sich überaus weise äußern, d.h. den Mitmenschen ein großes Wissen zur Kenntnis bringen, wozu keine besondere Verstandesarbeit nötig war. Also ist gut entwickelter Verstand nicht durchaus nötig, um für göttliche Weisheiten aufnahmefähig zu sein. Oft sogar ist der menschliche Verstand hinderlich zur Entgegennahme von geistigem Wissen, denn dieses will ungehindert in das Herz des Menschen eindringen, stößt aber bei nur Verstandesdenken auf Widerstand, weil irdische Weisheit stets der göttlichen Weisheit entgegenstrebt, solange der Mensch den erweckten Gottesgeist nicht als Geber der Weisheit erkennt. Was der Geist aus Gott den Menschen lehrt, benötigt nicht den Verstand, jedoch zur Verwertung des vom Gottesgeist Gelehrten muß auch der menschliche Verstand tätig sein. Dann muß der Mensch die Gabe Gottes gebrauchen und also alle ihm gegebenen Fähigkeiten nützen nur für die Höherbildung der Seele, dann sind diese dem Willen Gottes gemäß angewandt. Es ist dem Menschen der Verstand gegeben worden, um nachzudenken über sein Erdendasein und dessen Zweck und seine eigentliche Bestimmung. Doch dazu wird er am wenigsten angewandt. Alles Verstandesdenken kreist zumeist um irdische Probleme; jede gedankliche Tätigkeit gilt der Verbesserung des Erdenlebens, und also ist dann der Verstand allein in Tätigkeit, der Geist aus Gott aber noch nicht am Werk.... (4.7.1940) Sein Wirken ist erst die Folge der menschlichen Bemühungen, geistige Gebiete zu erforschen, und wiederum muß diesen Bemühungen tiefes Verlangen nach der Wahrheit und das Wissen um das ewig Göttliche zugrunde liegen, nicht aber um irdischen Vorteils willen diese Forschungen unternommen werden. Es ist der Geist aus Gott keineswegs dem Menschen wahrnehmbar, der nur für irdische Probleme Interesse hat. Dieser beansprucht sein Verstandesdenken, d.h. die Funktion seines Körpers zu einer Arbeit, die eben wieder nur dem Körper zuträglich erscheint. Und diese Funktion wird nun ganz dem Willen des Menschen entsprechend ausgeführt, während.... so der Geist aus Gott am Werk ist, wenn es gilt, geistige Probleme zu lösen.... der menschliche Wille nur insofern beteiligt ist, als er sich dem göttlichen Geist überläßt; nun aber der Geist aus Gott die Gedanken ordnet, also die gedankliche Tätigkeit leitet dem rechten Erkennen entgegen. Es ist also der Mensch willig, eine Kraft in Anspruch zu nehmen, die ihm unbewußt nicht zugeht. Und diese Kraft muß er selbst zum Entfalten bringen in sich durch rege Liebetätigkeit.... Er kann also sein Verstandesdenken vermehren, und zwar mit der Gewähr voller Wahrhaftigkeit dessen, was Ergebnis seines Denkens ist, während die Vertandestätigkeit allein keine Sicherheit ist für absolute Wahrheit. Es hat also der Mensch es selbst in der Hand, sein Wissen beträchtlich zu vermehren, immer mit der Garantie, es wahrheitsgemäß vermittelt zu bekommen, so er nicht nur den Verstand, sondern auch das Herz sprechen läßt, denn der göttliche Geistesfunke in ihm kann nur gefühlsmäßig erweckt werden, und dieses Gefühl, das zum Erwecken des Gottesgeistes gepflegt werden muß, ist die Liebe.... Ohne liebetätig zu sein, ist das Erwachen des Gottesgeistes unmöglich, also wird die reine Wahrheit und vermehrtes Wissen stets die Folge sein einer äußerst regen Liebetätigkeit. Es wird Geist und Verstand also erst dann zusammen wirken können, wenn der forschende Mensch sein Wesen schon zur Liebe gestaltet hat und nun das Forschen dem Lösen geistiger Probleme gilt, obgleich auch dann irdische Gedankentätigkeit gleichfalls vom Geist Gottes gelenkt wird und also dann auch Wahrheit verbürgt....
