Connecting the soul with the spiritual....

Man need only imagine that his soul longs for liberation and he will muster all his will to help it out of captivity. The soul of man is likewise spiritual, which is to find the way to God.... it is a substance that feels comfortable in freedom and perceives the form that envelops it as a terrible constraint. As long as it has not yet found the right path, it is without any bond with the spiritual substance that has emerged from God, but it alone is an unfree, tormented being that only attains a certain freedom in union with the spirit. As long as the soul fulfils the desire of the body, its state is an unfree one; only when it enters into the desire of the spirit does it become freer, and when it now strives for complete union with it, it releases itself from the constraint of being bound. In order to now complete this process the will for the final unification with the spiritual has to be exceptionally strong, the soul, therefore all thinking, feeling and wanting in man, has to be directed only towards living according to this aim, it is therefore no longer allowed to live earth life without a plan but it has to get in touch with those powers which help it with the work, which is now only to be the only task, because the soul is weakened in its will. It can only master this work on itself with support. It first has to make use of the power for it, which God however puts at its disposal unmeasured, only the will of the soul has to become active to receive it. And it has to accomplish this activity of will itself; it has to carry the desire to ascend, the desire for a free, unbound state, through the desire for it it has to express its will to want to become again what it was and what its actual destiny is, then the path is also open to it, for it will be supported in its endeavour, it will be given strength and can now take the path upwards unhindered, it can shape itself such that a unification with the spirit from God is the result of its striving.... It can give up its unfree state and leave the last earthly form as a completely free being....

Verbinding van de ziel met het geestelijke

De mens hoeft zich alleen maar voor te stellen, dat zijn ziel vurig naar bevrijding verlangt en hij zal zijn hele wil inzetten om haar uit de gevangenschap te helpen. De ziel van de mens is eveneens iets geestelijks, dat de weg naar God vinden moet. Ze is substantie, die zich goed voelt in een ongebonden toestand en die de haar omhullende vorm als een vreselijke dwang ervaart.

Ze is zonder enige binding met het uit God voortgekomen geestelijke, zolang ze de juiste weg nog niet gevonden heeft. Zolang is ze slechts een onvrij, gekweld wezen, dat alleen door de vereniging met de geest pas tot een zekere vrijheid komt. Zolang de ziel aan het verlangen van het lichaam beantwoordt, is haar toestand onvrij. Pas het ingaan op het verlangen van de geest maakt haar vrijer. En als ze nu de volledige vereniging met hem nastreeft, maakt ze zich los uit de dwang van het gebonden zijn.

Om dit proces nu tot een einde te brengen, moet de wil tot de definitieve vereniging met het geestelijke buitengewoon sterk zijn. De ziel, dus al het denken, voelen en willen in de mens, moet erop gericht zijn om overeenkomstig dit doel te leven. Ze mag dus het aardse leven niet meer zonder plan leven, maar ze moet zich met deze krachten, die haar behulpzaam zijn bij het werk, dat nu alleen haar enige opdracht zal zijn, in verbinding stellen, want de ziel is verzwakt in haar wil. Ze kan dit werk aan zichzelf enkel met hulp meester worden. Ze moet daartoe eerst een beroep doen op de kracht, die God haar echter mateloos ter beschikking stelt. Alleen moet de wil van de ziel voor het in ontvangst nemen hiervan werkzaam worden.

En deze werkzaamheid van de wil moet ze zelf tot stand brengen. Ze moet verlangen hebben naar boven, verlangen naar een vrije, ongebonden toestand. Ze moet door het verlangen daarnaar haar wil tonen weer dat te willen worden, wat ze was en wat haar eigenlijke bestemming is. Dan is voor haar ook de weg vrij, want ze wordt in haar voornemen gesteund. Ze wordt met kracht bedacht en kan nu ongehinderd de weg naar de hoogte nemen. Ze kan zich zo vormen, dat een vereniging met de geest uit God het gevolg van haar streven is. Ze kan haar onvrije toestand opgeven en de laatste aardse vorm als een volledig vrij wezen verlaten.
