De openbaring van God door de schepping

De scheppingswonderen zouden het denken van de mens voortdurend aan moeten sporen en zijn denken naar God toe moeten leiden, want het is God Zelf, Die door de schepping tot hem spreekt, als hij Zijn stem wil horen. Waarheen het menselijke oog ook kijkt, is het werkzaam zijn van God te herkennen, want geen mens is in staat om vanuit zichzelf hetzelfde te scheppen, als wat de schepping hem voortdurend voor ogen houdt. En als de mens daarover nadenkt, luistert hij aandachtig naar de taal van God, want de resultaten van zijn denken zijn Zijn antwoorden.

God Zelf openbaart Zich door de schepping aan de mensen. Dat wil zeggen dat in alle scheppingswerken duidelijk het werkzaam zijn van een macht te herkennen is, die buitengewoon wijs is en daarom als het hoogst volmaakte wezen in te denken is. Zodra de schepping dus het geloof in de eeuwige Godheid opwekt of bevestigt, heeft de mens gehoor geschonken aan de openbaringen van God. Hij heeft de vaste overtuiging verkregen, dat de Schepper een wezen van de hoogste volmaaktheid is, Die in het nauwste verband met de schepping staat. En deze overtuiging is geloof.

De schepping is er dus geschikt voor om de mensen diep gelovig te maken, maar hij moet deze tot zich laten spreken. Hij moet elk scheppingswerk bekijken met de wil om zich positief op te stellen tegenover Degene, Die zoiets liet ontstaan. En deze wil helpt hem tot inzicht. Er zal hem opheldering gegeven worden en zodoende uit de eeuwige Godheid Zichzelf en geeft hem kennis van Zijn heersen en werkzaam zijn.

Dit kan in gedachten geschieden, zodra de mens zijn gedachten vragend op de schepping richt. Hij kan echter ook onderwezen worden door een medemens, aan wie God Zich in de rechtstreekse vorm openbaart met het verspreiden van de waarheid onder de medemensen als doel. Maar door de schepping spreekt God tot alle mensen en alle mensen kunnen deze taal verstaan, als ze serieus van zins zijn naar de Schepper te luisteren.

Zodoende is het van de wil van de mens afhankelijk of hij God herkent of niet. Die mogelijkheid wordt hem voortdurend gegeven, want Gods liefde, wijsheid en almacht openbaren zich in alle dingen. Maar er hoeft geen aandacht geschonken te worden aan Zijn openbaringen, omdat God de wil van de mens niet dwingt om zich ernstig met iets bezig te houden, waar hij niet naar verlangt. Maar dan zal ook zijn kennis van God gebrekkig zijn. Hij zal niet met overtuiging positief tegenover God kunnen staan, omdat hij hier nooit stelling over genomen heeft.

Het is dus nooit een benadelen van de kant van God, als het een mens zwaar valt om te geloven, maar steeds alleen maar de schuld van de mens, want hij veronachtzaamt de hem ter beschikking staande gelegenheden om gelovig te kunnen worden, omdat hij God niet wil zien, waar Hij Zich openbaart: in de schepping, die een duidelijke getuigenis is van een scheppende macht, die vol liefde en wijsheid is.

Revelation of God through creation....

The wonders of creation should constantly stimulate man's thoughts and direct his mind towards God, for it is God Himself Who speaks to him through creation if he wants to hear His voice. Wherever the human eye looks, God's activity can be recognized, for no human being is able to create the same thing on his own which creation constantly brings before his eyes. And when man thinks about it, he listens to the language of God, for the results of his thinking are His answer. God Himself reveals Himself to people through creation, i.e., in all works of creation the working of a power can be clearly recognized, Which is supremely wise and therefore is to be thought of as a supremely perfect being. Thus, as soon as creation awakens or strengthens faith in the eternal deity, the human being has listened to God's revelations; he has gained the firm conviction that the creator is a being of supreme perfection Which is in the closest connection with creation. And this conviction is faith.... Creation is therefore suitable to make man deeply faithful, but he must let it speak to him. He must look at every work of creation with the will to affirm the one Who brought it into being. And this will helps him to recognize, information is given to him, and thus the eternal deity expresses Himself and informs him of His reign and activity. This can happen mentally as soon as the human being turns his thoughts questioningly towards creation.... But he can also be instructed by a fellow human being to whom God reveals Himself in direct form for the purpose of spreading the truth among his fellow human beings. But God speaks to all people through creation, and all people can understand this language if they are seriously willing to listen to the creator.... It is therefore always dependent on the will of man as to whether he recognizes God or not. The possibility is constantly given to him, for God's love, wisdom and omnipotence are revealed in all things. However, His revelations need not be heeded because God does not force the human being's will to seriously concern himself with something he does not desire. But then his knowledge of God will also be deficient, he will not be able to affirm God with conviction because he has never taken a stand on it. It is therefore never a rejection on God's part if a person finds it more difficult to believe, but always only human fault, for he disregards the opportunities available to him to become a believer because he does not want to see God where He reveals Himself.... in creation, which is an obvious testimony of a creative, loving and wise power....
