Het formuleren van de gedachten

Elke gedachte wordt geformuleerd door de wil van de mens. Zodoende is de mens er in een bepaald opzicht wel verantwoordelijk voor van welke aard zijn gedachten zijn, maar hij is niet te beschouwen als de schepper van de gedachte. De gedachte wordt hem eerst gegeven. Het is niet dat deze gedachte door hemzelf ontstaat. Maar de mens geeft pas dan een uitdrukking aan de hem toegestuurde gedachten, als die met zijn aard overeenkomen. En daarom gelooft hij de schepper van zijn gedachten te zijn.

Weliswaar is hij ook bepalend voor welk gedachtengoed hem gegeven kan worden, omdat zijn wil deze kiest, want zijn wil kan net zo goed weigeren om het hem toegestuurde gedachtengoed naar zijn hersenen te leiden en zodoende het de mens tot bewustzijn te laten komen. Maar als de wil ervoor gekozen heeft om het gedachtengoed ook verstandsmatig te accepteren, geeft hij hem nu ook vorm. Dat wil zeggen dat de krachtstroom uit het geestelijke rijk nu dat wordt, wat de mens onder gedachte verstaat.

Want de gedachte is geestelijke kracht, die in samenhangende zinnen tot uitdrukking komt. Daarom wordt ook van eigen denken gesproken, omdat de mens zelf de zinsopbouw doet, omdat hij dat, wat hem geestelijk gegeven wordt, eerst zo formuleert, zodat het voor de medemensen begrijpelijk wordt. En dit formuleren van de gedachten komt met zijn aard overeen. Het zal steeds zo zijn, zoals de mens zelf het voor allen begrijpelijk houdt, omdat hij hetgeen hij ontvangen heeft graag door zou willen geven en daarvoor de meest geëigende vorm zoekt. Zodoende kan wel in het algemeen gezegd worden, dat de mens zelf denkt, omdat hij enkel dat uit zal spreken, wat voor zijn wezen begrijpelijk is. Maar hij beseft niet dat elke gedachte als kracht uit een schepper gestroomd is. Dat hij deze gedachte alleen maar zo vormt, zoals het hem zelf bevalt.

Dit formuleren is weer een activiteit van de hersenen. Dat wil zeggen het benutten van de levenskracht, die elk mens toegestuurd wordt. Want deze bekwaamheid werd hem door God gegeven. Geheel onafhankelijk van de kracht van de schepper, dus eigenmachtig zich een geestelijke schat toe-eigenen, doordat deze van het hart naar de hersenen geleid wordt om deze verstandmatig te analyseren, dus het hem toegestuurde gedachtengoed door zijn wil zo vorm te geven, dat het als het ware een persoonlijk karakter aanneemt en het nu voor een eigen voortbrengsel aangezien wordt.

Formulation of the thought....

Every thought is formulated by the will of man, so in a certain respect man is certainly responsible for the nature of his thoughts, but he is not to be regarded as the originator of the thought. The thought is first transmitted to him, not that it arises through him. It is only that man first gives the thoughts that come to him the expression that mostly corresponds to his nature. And that is why he believes himself to be the author of the thought. Admittedly, he also determines which thought material can be conveyed to him because this is decided by his will, for the will can just as well refuse to convey the thought material it receives to the brain and thus allow the human being to become aware of it. But if the will has decided to accept the thought material also intellectually, it now also gives it the form, i.e., the influx of strength from the spiritual kingdom becomes what the human being understands by thought. For thought is spiritual power that is expressed in coherent sentences. That is why we speak of one's own thinking, because the human being himself forms the sentences, because he first formulates what is spiritually imparted to him in such a way that it becomes comprehensible to his fellow human being. And this formulation of the thought corresponds to his nature; it will always be as the human being himself considers it to be generally understandable, because he would like to pass on what he has received and seeks the most suitable form for this. It can therefore be generally said that the human being thinks for himself because he will only express what is comprehensible to his nature, but he does not realize that every thought flows from an originator as a force, that he himself only forms these thoughts in a way that suits him.... This formulation is again an activity of the brain, i.e. utilising the life force that is given to every human being. For this ability is given to him by God, quite independently of the creative power, thus on his own authority, to appropriate a spiritual treasure by being guided from the heart to the brain and to utilize it intellectually, thus to shape the thoughts he receives through his will in such a way that it takes on a personal character, so to speak.... and it is now regarded as his own product....
