Het vormen van de ziel voor het ontvangen van licht en kracht – Verlossende werkzaamheid

Maar weinig mensen zijn in staat om zich in die toestand te brengen, die nodig is om ontvanger van licht en kracht uit God te zijn. Want dezen moeten de wil tot de wereld doden, de wil tot God steeds sterker laten worden en dat laatste is enkel dan mogelijk, wanneer de mens diepgelovig is. Dat wil zeggen dat hij zich tot God moet wenden als gevolg van het geloof, want hem zal noch het voordeel van een verbinding met God, noch het nadeel van het leven zonder God bewezen kunnen worden. Hij moet in zekere zin een doel nastreven, dat alleen maar op geloof gebaseerd kan worden.

En maar weinig mensen zullen naar zo’n doel streven, omdat hun geen enkele garantie gegeven kan worden voor de juistheid of waarachtigheid van dat, wat hij gelooft. En toch is het juist dit geloof, wat zo’n enorm succes oplevert. Het geloof in een God van liefde, wijsheid en almacht is van onschatbare waarde, want door zo’n geloof vormt de mens zich zo, zoals hij zijn moet om licht en kracht van God te kunnen ontvangen.

De Godheid, Die hij erkent, accepteert hem. Ze nadert hem en overschaduwt hem met Haar genade. Ze trekt hem naar Zich toe en maakt uit een zwak, onmachtig wezen een wezen vol kracht en macht. Door het erkennen van de eeuwige Godheid, door het geloof in een macht die buitengewoon sterk, wijs en welwillend is, wordt de mens medeontvanger van dat, wat uit deze macht stroomt en hij maakt zich in zekere zin los van de mensheid, waartoe hij op aarde behoort.

Hij kan in het lichamelijke leven buiten dat zijn, waar zijn lichaam verblijft. Hij kan zich met een wereld verbinden, die buiten de aarde ligt. Hij kan zich in verbinding stellen met de wezens buiten de aarde en hij kan zelfs met God Zelf in verbinding treden door zijn diepe geloof, dat er een wereld buiten de aarde bestaat en dat er geen barrières zijn tussen zichzelf en de geestelijke wereld, haar bewoners en het hoogste Wezen. Want als de mens gelooft in de liefde van God, weet hij ook dat deze liefde vol erbarmen naar hem over buigt. Hij weet dat deze liefde hem geschapen heeft ter wille van een doel en hij probeert nu om dit doel tot op de bodem uit te zoeken om zijn opdracht te kunnen vervullen.

En zodoende wordt zijn wil actief en hoe dieper zijn geloof wordt, des te sterker wordt ook zijn wil. Dit geloof en deze wil worden door de toestroom van Zijn kracht door God verdiept, want een mens die naar Hem streeft, laat hij deze in zijn hele overvloed toegestuurd worden en zodoende wordt de mens, die zich ter wille van zijn geloof van de aardse wereld losmaakt, rijk bedacht. Hij ontvangt en wordt buitengewoon rijkelijk schadeloosgesteld voor dat, wat hij op aarde opgeeft.

Maar het streven van de mens is meestal het vermeerderen van aardse rijkdom en daarmee is hij ongeschikt om licht en kracht uit God in ontvangst te nemen. Want hij voldoet aan geen enkele voorwaarde en zodoende is zijn ziel niet zo gevormd, zoals ze voor het ontvangen van de uitstorting uit God moet zijn.

En dit heeft tot gevolg, dat ook de opwaartse ontwikkeling van het menselijke geslacht in twijfel getrokken kan worden, omdat deze zonder krachtschenking van de kant van God niet denkbaar is. De mensheid blijft voortdurend op dezelfde trede, als ze al niet achteruitgaat. Ze gebruikt de genade van de belichaming op aarde niet en blijft zo in de ver van God verwijderde toestand, waarin ze zich aan het begin van de belichaming van de ziel bevond. Er is een stilstand opgetreden in het totale ontwikkelingsproces door de wil van de mens, omdat het geloof in een God van liefde, wijsheid en almacht, zwak is of het er geheel aan ontbreekt.

En daarom hebben de mensen dringend hulp nodig en wel in de vorm van onderrichting door een medemens, in wie het geloof nog sterk is en die daardoor de kracht uit God, die hij zelf op grond van zijn geloof ontvangt, over kan dragen op deze mensen. Zo’n middelaar heeft een buitengewoon belangrijke opdracht te vervullen, die hij weer alleen maar uit kan voeren, als God Zelf hem helpt en zijn kracht vermeerdert, zodat hij door een buitengewoon werkzaam zijn het geloof van de medemensen op kan wekken of kan verdiepen. Hij moet dus voortdurend bereid zijn om als middelaar tussen God en de mensen werkzaam te zijn en dit vereist zijn gehele wil en dienende overgave.

Maar het is de mooiste opdracht die de mens gedurende zijn bestaan op aarde uit kan voeren. De in de diepste geestelijke duisternis erop los levende mensheid licht te brengen en deze mensheid aan deze duisternis te ontrukken. En die weinigen zullen zich steeds in de genade van God mogen verheugen. God zal hen helpen en hun kracht doen toenemen. Hij zal hun geloof sterker maken. Hij zal de ziel, die zich aan Hem aanbiedt, in Zijn liefde grijpen en haar zeker naar de hoogte leiden, want ze vervult haar echte bestaansdoel. Ze is al op aarde verlossend werkzaam en daardoor een kandidaat voor het rijk van God, dat niet van deze wereld is.

Shaping the soul to receive light and power.... redemptive activity....

Only a few people are able to put themselves into the state which is necessary in order to be receivers of light and strength from God. For these must kill the will for the world but allow the will for God to become ever stronger, and the latter is only possible if the human being is profoundly faithful, that is, he must turn to God as a result of faith, for neither the advantage of a connection with God nor the disadvantage of life without God can be proven to him.... In a sense, he must strive towards a goal that can only be justified by faith. And only few people will pursue such a goal because they cannot be given any guarantee for the correctness or truthfulness of what they believe. And yet it is precisely this belief that brings tremendous success.... Faith in a God of love, wisdom and omnipotence is of inestimable value, for through such faith a person moulds himself into what he must be in order to be able to receive light and strength from God. The deity that he recognizes accepts him.... It draws near to him and overshadows him with its grace.... It draws him to itself and turns a weak, powerless being into a being full of strength and power.... By recognizing the eternal deity, by believing in a power that is extremely strong, wise and benevolent, man becomes a co-recipient of what this power emanates, and he detaches himself to a certain extent from the humanity to which he belongs on earth.... He can still be in bodily life outside of where his body dwells.... He can connect with a world which is outside of earth, he can make contact with beings outside of earth, and he can even make contact with God Himself through his profound belief that there is a world outside of earth and that there are no barriers between himself and the spiritual world, its inhabitants and the supreme being.... For if a person believes in God's love, he also knows that this love inclines towards him full of mercy.... he knows that this love has created him for the sake of a purpose, and he now seeks to fathom the purpose in order to be able to fulfil his task. And thus his will becomes active, and the deeper his faith becomes, the stronger his will becomes.... But God deepens this faith and will through the influx of His strength, for He will send it in abundance to a person who strives towards Him, and thus the person who detaches himself from the earthly world for the sake of his faith will be richly provided for.... he receives and is richly compensated for what he gives up on earth....

(29.3.1942) But man's endeavour is mostly the increase of earthly wealth and thus unsuitability to receive light and strength from God. For he does not fulfil any conditions and therefore his soul is not shaped as it has to be in order to receive the outpouring from God. And the consequence of this is that the higher development of the human race is also called into question, since this is inconceivable without the transmission of strength from God. Mankind constantly remains on the same level, if it does not even develop regressively. It does not utilize the grace of embodiment on earth and thus remains in the state far removed from God which it had to show at the beginning of the embodiment of the soul. The whole process of higher development through human will has come to a standstill because faith in a God of love, wisdom and omnipotence is weak or completely lacking. And this is why people urgently need help, namely in the form of instructions from a fellow human being in whom this faith is still strong and who can thereby transfer the strength from God to those whom he himself receives by virtue of his faith. Such a mediator has to fulfil an extremely important task which he again can only carry out if God Himself assists him and increases his strength so that he can awaken or deepen the faith of his fellow human beings through extraordinary activity. And thus he must constantly be prepared to act as a mediator between God and people, and this requires all his will and serving devotion. Yet it is the most beautiful task a person can fulfil during his earthly existence.... to bring light to humanity, which lives in deepest spiritual darkness, and to snatch it from this darkness. And the few will always be allowed to enjoy God's grace, God will stand by them and increase their strength, He will strengthen their faith, He will seize the soul, which offers itself to Him, in His love and lead it safely upwards, because it fulfils its right purpose of existence.... it is already redemptively active on earth and thereby a candidate for the kingdom of God, which is not of this world....
