What is the soul....

There is still a complete lack of clarity about problems which cannot be solved by human intelligence alone and where God's spirit has to work even though its working is rarely acknowledged. But only He is able to give a clear answer to questions that concern unsolved problems. However, even the results of such working of the spirit are doubted although they alone correspond to the truth. Irrespective of what question is asked, only the answer given to people by God Himself through His spirit will always be correct.... However, 'spirit' should not be confused with 'intellect' because intellect can just as well reason in the wrong direction.... There is no guarantee that intellectual results correspond to truth or so many different opinions and points of view would not exist, all claiming to be truth but all merely gained by means of intellect....

The 'spirit', however, is the radiance emanated by the Eternal Truth Itself which gives light, i.e. knowledge which is simply accepted by the intellect, for which there is no evidence. But the 'spirit of God' provides absolute innermost conviction, it provides comprehensive clarification even without making special use of the intellect:.... The concept of 'soul' cannot be tangibly explained to someone unless he has already acquired a certain amount of 'spiritual knowledge' because the soul is something spiritual, it has no earthly-physical quality and can therefore only be explained spiritually. The soul is the fluid essence which gives life to the body, to the physical form.... The soul is the actual life, the human being's true ego, which is sheltered in an external physical shell, which cannot be seen but is always present as long as energy expresses itself in it. Without the soul the human being would not be a self-aware being. The soul is God's once emanated strength which He externalised as a spiritual being to whom He gave an independent life. And this being was endowed with free will and the ability to think.... The fact that and why this spiritual being.... the soul.... shelters within the human body during its earthly life is a separate issue; first it should be explained that it is the soul which thus enables the human being to think, feel and want.

It should be emphasized that the soul is the animator of all organs, that every physical activity, every prompting of will and feeling is the expression of the soul within the body.... which is indeed something spiritual that cannot be seen by the human eye and which.... if it could be seen.... would fully resemble its external human shell. It is the soul which continues to live after the death of the body and which then can also be seen by other souls whose degree of maturity enables their spiritual vision. The soul can therefore never be explained as some kind of physical substance.... it is and remains spiritual substance, thus God's spiritual emanation, which is intended to fulfil a purpose on earth.... It is indestructible and immortal but can differentiate itself from other souls by its emission of light, and the purpose of its earthly life consists of increasing the degree of light which it had once darkened of its own free will....

It is not possible for anyone to explain the essence of soul purely scientifically because the soul is nothing tangible nor explicable with human senses but strength from God's strength, Whose essence is and remains equally inexplicable but Who cannot be denied by thinking people. Just as the soul is the true Self of the human being which cannot be defined either, which exists yet cannot be proven, which certainly controls the functions of the physical organs but can also exist without the body, whereas the body without the soul is completely lifeless matter even if all organs are still unchanged.... But the life is missing as soon as the soul leaves the body.... something is missing that activates the body, which triggers the organs' functions, which decisively influences the brain voluntarily and which arouses the stirring of every resolve in a person.... And this thinking, wanting and feeling something.... the soul.... now exists in other spheres but always as the same being which previously inhabited the body. And therefore it can also be recognised in the realm of the beyond which, however, requires a certain degree of maturity....

혼은 무엇인가?

문제를 해결하기 위해 인간의 이성만으로 충분하지 않은 하나님의 영의 역사가 비록 단지 희귀하게 인정을 받지만 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 하나님의 영이 역사해야만 하는 이런 문제들이 아직 전적으로 선명하게 해결되지 않고 있다. 그러나 해결되지 않은 문제에 대한 질문이 주어지면, 하나님이 유일하게 선명한 답변을 줄 수 있다. 그러나 이런 영의 역사 결과들은 비록 이런 결과들이 유일하게 진리에 합당할지라도 의심을 받는다. 어떠한 종류의 질문이든 항상 유일하게 단지 하나님 자신이 자신의 영을 통해 사람들에게 주는 답변이 올바른 답변이 될 것이다.

그러나 영과 이성을 혼돈해서는 안 된다. 왜냐면 이성은 마찬가지로 잘못 된 방향으로 향할 수 있기 때문이다. 이성의 결과가 진리에 합당하다는 보장이 없다. 그렇지 않으면 모두가 진리라는 주장하지만 그러나 모두가 단지 이성을 통해 얻은 여러가지 의견들과 관점들을 관철시키려고 하지 않았을 것이다. 그러나 영은 영원한 진리 자체에서 나오는 빛을 주는 발산이다. 다시 말해 이성이 단지 영접하는 깨달음이고 이에 대한 어떠한 증명도 해주지 않는다. 그러나 하나님으로부터 온 영은 전적으로 내적인 확신을 주고 특별하게 이성을 활용하지 않으면서 빈틈없이 설명해준다.

이미 특정한 영적인 지식을 얻지 못한 어떤 사람에게 혼의 개념을 이해할 수 있게 해줄 수 없다. 왜냐면 혼은 어떤 영적인 것이고 혼은 전혀 세상적인 물질적인 것이 아니기 때문이다. 그러므로 단지 영적으로 설명할 수밖에 없기 때문이다. 혼은 물질의 형체인 육체에게 비로소 생명을 부여하는 기운이다. 혼은 실제 생명이고 물질적인 겉형체 안에 거하는 볼 수 없는 그러나 능력이 이런 겉형체에 나타나는 동안에는 항상 존재하는 실제적인 사람들의 "나" 이다. 사람 안에 혼이 없으면, 사람은 자신을 의식하지 못하는 존재가 되었을 것이다.

혼은 한때 하나님으로부터 흘러나온 힘이고 하나님이 자기 자신 밖으로 어떠한 존재로 생성되게 나오게 해서 그에게 자립적인 생명을 부여한 존재이다. 이런 존재는 자유의지와 생각할 능력을 받았다. 이런 존재인 혼이 이제 이 땅에 사는 동안에 인간의 육체 안에 거하는 일과 왜 거하는 지가 지식이다. 그러나 사람이 생각하고 느끼고 원할 수 있는 원인이 혼이라는 것을 먼저 설명해줘야 한다. 혼이 모든 신체의 각 기관들이 살아있게 한다는 것을 드러나게 해야 하고 육체의 모든 하는 일과 모든 의지의 자극과 모든 느낌이 육체 안에 거하는 혼이 표현하는 것이라는 것을 드러나게 해야 한다. 혼은 실제 어떠한 영적인 것이고 인간의 눈으로는 볼 수 있는 것이 아니다. 혼을 볼 수 있으면, 전적으로 인간적인 겉 형제와 같이 보인다.

혼은 육체의 죽음 후에도 존재하는 것이다. 영적으로 보는 일을 허용할 정도의 성장에 도달한 혼들은 이 혼을 볼 수 있다. 그러므로 절대로 혼을 어떠한 물질적인 육체에 속한 입자로 설명할 수 없다. 혼은 영적인 입자이고 영적인 입자로 남는다. 그러므로 혼은 하나님의 영적인 발산이고, 이 땅에서 자신의 목적을 성취시켜야 한다. 혼은 손상될 수 없고 쇠하지 않는다. 그러나 혼은 빛의 발산을 통해 다른 혼과 구별 된다. 이 땅의 삶의 목적은 혼이 언젠가 자신의 의지로 어둡게 만든 빛의 정도를 높이는 일이다.

단지 학문적으로 연구하는 어떤 사람도 혼의 특성을 설명하는 일은 불가능하다. 왜냐면 혼은 어떤 만져볼 수 있는 것이 아니고 인간의 감각으로 헤아려 볼 수 있는 것이 아니고 하나님의 힘으로부터 나온 힘이기 때문이다. 마찬가지로 하나님의 성품을 헤아려 볼 수 없고 헤아려 볼 수 없게 머물지만 생각할 수 있는 사람은 하나님을 부인할 수 없다. 마찬 가지로 혼이 사람의 실제적인 "나"라는 것을 생각할 수 있는 사람은 부인할 수 없다. 사람의 실제적인 "나"를 정의할 수 없고 사람의 실제적인 "나"가 존재하지만 그러나 증명할 수 없고 혼은 육체의 기관들이 실제 그들의 역할을 하게 하지만 그러나 혼은 육체가 없이도 존재할 수 있는 반면에 혼이 없는 육체는 비록 모든 기관이 전혀 변화되지 않았을지라도 전적으로 생명이 없는 물질이라는 것을 생각할 수 있는 사람은 부인할 수 없다.

그러나 혼이 육체를 떠나면 생명이 없게 된다. 육체가 행하도록 만드는 존재가 없어 지게 되고 육체의 기관이 동작하도록 만들어 주는 존재가 없어 지게 되고 자유의지로 생각하는 기관에 정하는 역사를 하는 존재가 없어 지게 되고, 사람 안의 모든 의지에 자극을 해주는 존재가 없어 지게 된다. 이런 생각하고 원하고 느끼는 어떤 존재가 혼이다. 혼은 이제 다른 영역에서 살게 된다. 그러나 혼은 항상 이 전에 인간의 육체 안에서 거했던 존재와 같은 존재이다. 그러므로 저세상에서 혼을 알아볼 수 있다. 그러나 혼을 알아볼 수 있기 위해서는 특정한 성장 정도를 갖춰야만 한다.
