Mentally blind.... rays of light....

Everything remains hidden from the spiritually blind, he lacks all realization, he is unable to take a look into the kingdom of the spirit, for he has closed his eyes and no ray of light is able to penetrate them; he walks in constant darkness.... and no matter how vividly he may move in the earthly world, no matter how earthly success he may have.... this does not change the blind state his soul is in, a state devoid of all light and therefore also devoid of all strength to leave the darkness. But the spiritually blind person himself keeps his eyes closed to the light. Therefore he cannot be pitied as a victim of his fate, as a being inadequately considered by God, who is deprived of every realization, every ray of light. He, too, is illuminated by the divine light of love and only needed to open himself, he only needed to expose himself to this radiation of light without resistance, then he would also open his eyes in order to see from where he receives the benefit of the rays of light.... i.e., the divine radiation.... the word of God.... will also be supplied to him, and if he only receives it.... and if he merely listened to it it would also have a beneficial effect on him, and the desire would awaken in him to hear ever more, his spirit's eye would open and the light would now shine in and illuminate everything that had been dark in him until now. But the spiritually blind person still resists God.... And therefore it is his own fault that he is unable to see, that he always walks in the night, that the light of the morning cannot make him happy. The spiritually blind person has a strong will which is directed against everything that signifies light.... And he rarely gives up this will. For mostly these blind in spirit feel exceedingly comfortable in the earthly world and are devoted to it with all their senses, thus their will is fully turned towards God's adversary and he keeps them bound.... he deceives them with so much light that they don't feel their spiritual blindness, that they only chase after these blinding lights more and more and don't realize what illusion and deception they have fallen prey to.... But their spiritual darkness also prevents them from recognizing what is offered to them as deceptive light by God's adversary. And this also strengthens their resistance against every radiation of light which touches them from above.... They can become seeing, they can receive much divine light as soon as they open themselves, as soon as they are willing to give up their resistance.... as soon as they desire to become seeing, which is still possible as long as they live on earth. For even the spiritually blind can grow weary of the world with its pleasures, if he has enjoyed them abundantly.... He too can recognize the worthlessness and impermanence of earthly goods and no longer be satisfied with them.... The desire for knowledge about hidden things can also awaken in him, and then it is still possible that his eyes will be opened, that he will turn to where he believes to discover rays of light, and then he can also come to realization, which will-o'-the-wisps he has been chasing until now, and then it is still not too late to turn to the one Whom he has recognized as the eternal light and to appeal to Him for His grace that He may also open his eyes and grant him the light which will henceforth illuminate his path.... And his request will be heard....

Geestelijk blinden - Lichtstralen

De geestelijk blinde blijft alles verborgen, elk inzicht ontbreekt hem, hij is niet in staat een blik te werpen in het rijk van de geest, want hij heeft zijn ogen dicht en geen lichtstraal vermag bij hem binnen te dringen; hij bevindt zich in voortdurende duisternis en al mag hij zich nog zo opgewekt in de aardse wereld gedragen, al mag hij ook op aardse successen kunnen bogen, het verandert niets aan de blinde toestand waarin zijn ziel zich bevindt, in de toestand zonder enig licht en daarom ook zonder enige kracht om de duisternis te verlaten.

Maar de geestelijk blinde houdt zelf zijn ogen gesloten voor het Licht. Hij kan daarom niet beklaagd worden als slachtoffer van zijn lot, als een door GOD gebrekkig bedacht wezen aan wie elk inzicht, elke lichtstraal wordt onthouden. Ook hij wordt door het goddelijke Liefdelicht aangestraald en zou zich maar open hoeven te stellen, hij zou zich alleen maar zonder weerstand aan deze straling van licht hoeven bloot te stellen, dan zou hij ook zijn ogen openen om te zien vanwaar hij die weldaad van de stralen Licht ontvangt. Dat wil zeggen: ook hem wordt de goddelijke uitstraling - het Woord GOD's - gezonden, en als hij er maar naar zou luisteren, zou het ook een weldadige uitwerking op hem hebben, en het verlangen zou in hem ontwaken, steeds meer te horen; zijn geestelijk oog zou worden geopend en het licht nu naar binnen schijnen en alles verlichten wat tot nu toe duister in hem was.

Maar de geestelijk blinde heeft nog weerstand tegen GOD. En daarom is het zijn eigen schuld dat hij niet bij machte is te zien, dat hij steeds in de nacht leeft, dat het licht van de ochtend hem niet gelukkig kan maken. De geestelijk blinde heeft een sterke wil, die tegen alles gericht is wat licht betekent. En hij geeft deze wil maar zelden op. Want meestal voelen deze blinden van geest zich buitengewoon goed op de aardse wereld en zijn haar met al hun zinnen toegedaan, dus is hun wil volledig en helemaal naar de tegenstander van GOD gewend en deze houdt hen gevangen, hij spiegelt hun zoveel licht voor dat ze hun geestelijke blindheid niet voelen, dat ze alleen steeds meer deze verblindende lichten najagen en niet inzien aan welke schijn en welk zinsbedrog ze ten prooi gevallen zijn.

Maar hun geestelijke duisternis hindert hen ook zich bewust te worden van datgene wat hun als schijnlicht door de tegenstander van GOD wordt aangeboden. En deze versterkt ook hun weerstand tegen elke straling van licht die hen van boven aanraakt. Ze kunnen ziende worden, ze kunnen veel goddelijk Licht ontvangen, zodra ze zich maar openstellen, zodra ze bereid zijn hun weerstand op te geven, zodra ze wensen ziende te worden, wat ook altijd mogelijk is, zolang ze op aarde leven; want ook de geestelijk blinde kan van de wereld met haar vreugden genoeg krijgen als hij daar rijkelijk van genoten heeft. Ook hij kan de waardeloosheid en onbestendigheid van aardse goederen inzien en zich er niet meer mee tevreden stellen.

Ook in hem kan het verlangen ontwaken naar het weten van wat verborgen is en dan is het altijd nog mogelijk dat hem de ogen worden geopend, dat hij zich daarheen wendt waar hij gelooft dat er lichtstralen zijn te ontdekken, en dan kan hij ook tot het inzicht komen welke dwaallichten hij tot nu toe heeft nagejaagd en dan is het nog steeds niet te laat zich tot die ENE te wenden DIE hij heeft herkend als het eeuwige LICHT en HEM om Zijn genade te vragen, dat HIJ ook hem de ogen mag openen en hem het Licht mag schenken dat hem voortaan de weg zal verlichten. En zijn verzoek zal verhoring winden.
