Mentally blind.... rays of light....

Everything remains hidden from the spiritually blind, he lacks all realization, he is unable to take a look into the kingdom of the spirit, for he has closed his eyes and no ray of light is able to penetrate them; he walks in constant darkness.... and no matter how vividly he may move in the earthly world, no matter how earthly success he may have.... this does not change the blind state his soul is in, a state devoid of all light and therefore also devoid of all strength to leave the darkness. But the spiritually blind person himself keeps his eyes closed to the light. Therefore he cannot be pitied as a victim of his fate, as a being inadequately considered by God, who is deprived of every realization, every ray of light. He, too, is illuminated by the divine light of love and only needed to open himself, he only needed to expose himself to this radiation of light without resistance, then he would also open his eyes in order to see from where he receives the benefit of the rays of light.... i.e., the divine radiation.... the word of God.... will also be supplied to him, and if he only receives it.... and if he merely listened to it it would also have a beneficial effect on him, and the desire would awaken in him to hear ever more, his spirit's eye would open and the light would now shine in and illuminate everything that had been dark in him until now. But the spiritually blind person still resists God.... And therefore it is his own fault that he is unable to see, that he always walks in the night, that the light of the morning cannot make him happy. The spiritually blind person has a strong will which is directed against everything that signifies light.... And he rarely gives up this will. For mostly these blind in spirit feel exceedingly comfortable in the earthly world and are devoted to it with all their senses, thus their will is fully turned towards God's adversary and he keeps them bound.... he deceives them with so much light that they don't feel their spiritual blindness, that they only chase after these blinding lights more and more and don't realize what illusion and deception they have fallen prey to.... But their spiritual darkness also prevents them from recognizing what is offered to them as deceptive light by God's adversary. And this also strengthens their resistance against every radiation of light which touches them from above.... They can become seeing, they can receive much divine light as soon as they open themselves, as soon as they are willing to give up their resistance.... as soon as they desire to become seeing, which is still possible as long as they live on earth. For even the spiritually blind can grow weary of the world with its pleasures, if he has enjoyed them abundantly.... He too can recognize the worthlessness and impermanence of earthly goods and no longer be satisfied with them.... The desire for knowledge about hidden things can also awaken in him, and then it is still possible that his eyes will be opened, that he will turn to where he believes to discover rays of light, and then he can also come to realization, which will-o'-the-wisps he has been chasing until now, and then it is still not too late to turn to the one Whom he has recognized as the eternal light and to appeal to Him for His grace that He may also open his eyes and grant him the light which will henceforth illuminate his path.... And his request will be heard....

영적인 장님. 빛의 광선.

영적인 맹인에게는 모든 것이 숨겨져 있고 그에게 모든 깨달음이 부족하고 영의 영역을 들여다볼 수 없다. 왜냐면 그가 눈을 감고 어떤 빛도 그의 눈에 도달할 수 없기 때문이다. 그는 끊임없이 어두움 속에서 살고 비록 그가 이 땅의 세상에서 아무리 힘차게 살고 또한 이 땅에서 성공할 수 있을지라도 그가 처해 있는 그의 눈이 먼 상태를 전혀 바꾸지 못한다. 그의 혼은 빛이 전혀 없는 상태에 있고 그러므로 어두움을 떠날 수 있는 어떤 힘도 없다.

그러나 영적인 맹인은 빛 앞에 스스로 자신의 눈을 감는다. 그러므로 그는 자신의 운명의 희생자로 모든 깨달음과 모든 빛을 받지 못하면서 하나님에 의해 차별을 받은 존재로 불쌍히 여김을 받을 수 없다. 그도 또한 하나님의 사랑의 빛을 받고 그가 자신을 열기 만하면 되었고 저항하지 않고 빛을 받으면 되었다. 그러면 그는 또한 어디에서 빛의 주는 행복을 체험하는 지를 보기 위해 자신의 눈을 열었을 것이다. 다시 말해 하나님의 발산인 하나님의 말씀이 그에게 제공이 되었을 것이고 그가 단지 하나님의 말씀을 들으면, 그의 영의 눈이 열리고 빛이 이제 임하고 지금까지 그에게 어두웠던 모든 일이 밝혀진다.

그러나 영적인 맹인은 아직 하나님께 저항하고 그러므로 그가 볼 수 없고 항상 밤 속에서 살고 아침의 빛이 그를 행복하게 만들 수 없게 된 일은 자신의 잘못이다. 영적으로 맹인은 빛을 의미하는 모든 것에 대해 저항하는 강한 의지를 가지고 있고 그는 이 의지를 단지 희귀하게 포기한다. 왜냐면 대부분의 맹인들이 세상 가운데 아주 행복하게 느끼고 모든 감각으로 세상에 헌신하고 그러므로 그들의 의지가 전적으로 모두 하나님의 대적자에게 향하고 하나님의 대적자가 그들을 묶어 두고 그들에게 너무 많은 빛을 빛인 것처럼 속여 그들의 자신들이 영적으로 눈이 먼 것을 느끼지 못하고 점점 더 많이 이런 거짓 빛을 쫓고 그들이 빠진 환상과 속임수를 깨닫지 못한다. 그러나 그들의 영적 어두움이 그들이 하나님의 대적자가 그들에게 속임수로 제시한 것을 깨닫는 일을 막고 또한 위로부터 그들에게 임하는 모든 빛을 향한 그들의 저항을 강화시킨다.

그들이 자신을 열고 그들의 저항을 포기하고 그들이 볼 수 있게 되기를 갈망하면, 그들이 이 땅에서 사는 동안에는 보게 되는 일이 아직 항상 가능하고 그들이 보게 될 수 있고 많은 하나님의 빛을 받을 수 있다. 왜냐면 영의 눈이 먼 사람도 세상을 풍성하게 누리면, 세상의 기쁨을 지루하게 여길 수 있기 때문이다. 그는 또한 세상 재물의 무가치함과 세상 재물이 지속되지 못한다는 것을 깨달을 수 있고 더 이상 세상 재물로 만족하지 못하게 될 수 있다.

그에게 숨겨진 것을 알려는 갈망이 깨어날 수 있고 그러면 그의 눈을 뜨게 되는 일이 아직 가능하고 그가 빛의 광선을 발견할 수 있다고 믿는 곳으로 향하는 일이 가능하다. 그러면 그가 또한 자신이 지금까지 어떤 잘못된 빛을 따랐는지 깨달음에 도달할 수 있고 그러면 그가 영원한 빛으로 깨달은 분에게 돌아가 그분에게 자신의 눈을 뜨게 해주기를 구할 수 있고 앞으로 그의 길을 비춰줄 빛을 받는 은혜를 구할 수 있게 되기에 아직 늦지 않았고 그의 기도는 응답을 받게 될 것이다.
