The short phase of earthly life decides the fate in the beyond....

Your earthly existence as a human being is one of infinitely many phases of your higher development, for even if you fully mature on earth so that you can enter the kingdom of light your development will nevertheless continue, because once a soul has attained realisation it will never cease going forward.... because it will always and forever strive towards God and thereby try to come closer to Him in order to become blissfully happy in complete union with Him. Consequently, the time on earth as a human being is just like a brief moment compared to eternity, compared to the infinitely long process of development through the material creation, and yet, this brief moment is crucial for the soul's fate, it is crucial for the further process of development in the spiritual kingdom. For there is a difference whether the soul has already achieved a degree of maturity on earth or whether it will not achieve realisation until it is in the kingdom of the beyond.... The latter will indeed ascend as well, but they will have to make an extremely laborious effort to acquire what was abundantly at their disposal on earth and what could have enabled them to reach the degree of light....

To pass the test of will on earth already denotes a state of light and strength in abundance on entering eternity, it denotes a constant supply of light and strength, because the moment the soul departs from earth as a recipient of strength it also imparts strength, and the more it passes on the more it will receive in return.... Thus it ascends extremely quickly now, for it joins equally mature spirits and works in accordance with divine will and on divine instruction.... It receives all strength from God and uses it on behalf of God, whereas souls having failed their test of will on earth are indeed also able to achieve realisation in the beyond but they first have to shape themselves with the help of other beings such that they can become enlightened, that they can receive the emanations of light and subsequently utilise them according to God's will. These souls, too, have to desire the supply of light and strength of their own accord, only then will they receive, and only then will their higher development begin with the work which they, in turn, carry out on the souls in darkness.... It is effectively a laborious path, a step by step ascent with the utmost effort of strength and will....

No effort remains without reward, the soul will definitely progress, but because it is still very weak and has little strength as its disposal it has to exert all its will and find much support from the world of light or through human intercession until it has become a recipient of light and strength itself, so that it can distribute in turn and then receive ever more strength. The short earthly life decides the fate in eternity, for the entry into the spiritual kingdom can already be supreme bliss which will never end, if the time on earth was used correctly. But it can also be wasted, and the soul has to suffer the consequences.... it has to carry on struggling and fighting if it doesn't want to descend. And its life in the spiritual kingdom can in many ways still be likened to the struggle on earth, yet it is never hopeless if the soul itself wants to attain light and strength. Only its will is decisive.... if the will is already directed towards God in earthly life, then the soul will constantly pursue its objective of coming closer to Him, which it will soon achieve....

But while the will is still turned away from God it means darkness and weakness, and the soul will enter the spiritual kingdom in this state, whereas the former is permeated by light and nothing ties it to the earthly realm except its love for those it left behind and to whom it now offers help in every way; the latter, however, will still need help for a long time although they have escaped earth, because they will still remain in the vicinity of earth until they, too, can receive enough light and strength in order to be active themselves in the spiritual kingdom. And every activity only consists of influencing the will of those who still aim in the wrong direction, in order to protect them from the same fate, from a laborious ascent in the spiritual realm which is the result of a wrongly directed will on earth....

De korte fase van het aardse leven beslist het lot in het hiernamaals

Uw aardse bestaan als mens is een van de oneindig vele fasen van uw opwaartse ontwikkeling. Want ook als u op aarde uitgerijpt bent om nu in het lichtrijk in te kunnen gaan, gaat uw ontwikkeling toch nog steeds verder, omdat de ziel die tot inzicht is gekomen nooit zal ophouden haar weg omhoog verder te gaan. Zij zal altijd op GOD aansturen omdat zij altijd tracht dichter bij HEM te komen, om in volkomen vereniging met HEM onuitsprekelijk zalig te zijn.

De tijd als mens op aarde is daarom net een kort ogenblik, vergeleken met de eeuwigheid en gemeten aan de eindeloos lange ontwikkelingsgang tevoren door de materiële schepping. En toch is dit korte ogenblik beslissend voor het lot van de ziel en is beslissend voor de verdere ontwikkelingsgang in het geestelijke rijk. Want het maakt verschil of de ziel reeds op aarde een hoge graad van rijpheid heeft bereikt, of pas in het hiernamaals tot inzicht komt. Wel gaat ook de laatstgenoemde opwaarts, maar met uiterst moeizame arbeid moet zij zich verwerven wat haar op aarde rijkelijk ter beschikking stond, en haar het bereiken van de lichtgraad mogelijk gemaakt zou hebben.

Op de aarde de wilsbeproeving te doorstaan, betekent een toestand van licht en kracht in overvloed reeds bij het ingaan in de eeuwigheid. Het betekent: steeds vermeerdering van licht en kracht, omdat de ziel van het uur af dat zij de aarde verlaat als een ontvanger van kracht ook een tussenpersoon is die kracht geeft - en steeds meer en meer ontvangt, hoe meer zij ervan uitstraalt.

Zij gaat nu ook uitermate snel omhoog, want zij sluit zich aan bij geesten met gelijke rijpheid en werkt nu naar goddelijke Wil en in goddelijke opdracht. Zij betrekt alle krachten vanuit GOD en benut ze voor GOD, terwijl de zielen die op de aarde in hun wilsbeproeving faalden ook wel in het hiernamaals tot inzicht kunnen komen, maar pas met behulp van andere wezens. Zij moeten zich nu zo omvormen dat het ook in hen licht wordt en zij de lichtstralingen kunnen opnemen - en nu deze gebruiken naar de Wil van GOD.

Ook deze zielen moeten in vrije wil de toevoer van licht en kracht verlangen, want pas dan zullen zij ontvangen. Dan pas begint ook hun opwaartse ontwikkeling met de werkzaamheid die zij weer verrichten ten behoeve van de zielen in duisternis. Het is in zekere zin een moeizame gang, een opstijgen waar tree voor tree beklommmen moet worden met inspanning van alle kracht en gehele wil. Er blijft echter geen moeite onbeloond, want het helpt de ziel zeker verder. Maar omdat zij zelf nog zeer zwak is en over weinig kracht beschikt, moet zij haar gehele wil inzetten en veel steuning ondervinden van de kant van de lichtwereld - of door menselijke voorspraak. Tot zij zelf in zover licht- en krachtontvanger is geworden, dat zij nu van haar kant kan uitdelen en nu ook steeds meer kracht ontvangt.

Het korte aardse leven is beslissend voor het lot in de eeuwigheid. Want het binnengaan in het geestelijke rijk kan al van een hoogste zaligheid zijn die nu nooit meer eindigt, als de tijd op de aarde goed besteed werd.

Maar die tijd kan ook onbenut blijven en de gevolgen daarvan moet de ziel dragen. Zij moet verder worstelen en strijden als zij niet ten onder wil gaan. Haar leven in het geestelijke rijk lijkt nog in veel opzichten op het worstelen op de aarde, maar is toch niet hopeloos als de ziel zelf de wil heeft licht en kracht te verwerven. Alleen haar wil is beslissend. Is die wil reeds in het aardse leven op GOD gericht dan zal de ziel vastberaden het doel nastreven nader tot HEM te komen, wat zij dan ook spoedig bereikt.

Maar zolang de wil nog van GOD is afgekeerd, betekent dit voor haar duisternis en zwakheid. In deze toestand gaat de ziel dan het hiernamaals in, terwijl in het vorige geval de ziel doorstraald is van licht, en niets haar meer aan het aardse bindt dan alleen de liefde tot hen die zij verlaten heeft en die zij nu haar hulp aanbiedt op elke wijze. Maar de anderen hebben nog lange tijd hulp nodig ofschoon zij aan de aarde ontrukt zijn. Zij houden zich echter nog in de nabijheid van de aarde op tot ook zij zoveel licht en kracht kunnen ontvangen, om van hun kant nu werkzaam te zijn in het geestelijke rijk.

En elk werk bestaat nu daarin de wil van hen te beïnvloeden die hem nog verkeerd gericht hebben, om hen te bewaren voor hetzelfde noodlot, voor een moeilijke gang opwaarts in het geestelijke rijk, die het gevolg is van een verkeerd gerichte wil op aarde.
