Two different worlds....

There are two worlds, the spiritual kingdom and the earthly world, and they cannot both be entered at the same time because they are completely opposite and therefore the human being must decide for one of these two worlds. The earthly world is indeed the natural abode of the human being and therefore also appears to the human being as his kingdom to which he has to pay tribute. But the human being's task consists of the soul freeing itself from all impressions of this earthly world, of recognizing its appearance and striving towards the true, of rising into the kingdom which will be its abode after a short time, which is its true home and which offers it what the earthly world can never offer it.... unlimited bliss and eternal life.... The human being should gain this realization on earth that he only temporarily inhabits a world which is transient, a world where everything on it is, as it were, only a pretence, where everything is to be overcome in order to be able to rise freely into the spiritual kingdom which will remain when the earthly world passes away. The recognition of this influences the human being's will and actions and can result in the human being dwelling in the spiritual kingdom even though he still lives on earth. But then he has mentally and willingly renounced the earthly world, for he despises the earthly world as much as he strives for the spiritual world, because it is not possible to strive for both at the same time. They are two different kingdoms.... And their lords are also completely opposite, for the earthly world certainly arose through God's will, yet all creations still belong to God's adversary according to their spiritual nature, and this spiritual substance, which is bound in the works of creation, shall be liberated from its control. The final liberation shall be accomplished by the human being himself by voluntarily detaching himself from everything belonging to earth, by turning his desire away from the things of the earthly world and turning it towards the spiritual kingdom, thus consciously striving towards the kingdom of God. However, this striving first requires the recognition of the worthlessness of all earthly things, it requires faith in a God Who is perfect and in His love wants to prepare a blissful fate for His living creations, and thus it also requires the human being's love for God, otherwise God and His kingdom would not be striven for.... It presupposes a degree of knowledge.... And this shall be made possible for people through the transmission of the divine word, for the human being must first be informed of his task in earthly life before he can make any kind of decision. The human being certainly stands in the midst of the earthly world and yet he should strive towards the spiritual kingdom. God helps him in every way to become free from the earthly world, yet anyone who clings to earth and its goods will never seek the path upwards, he will also never want to and be able to separate himself, for he still allows himself to be held by the lord of the world, he does not direct his gaze upwards and therefore remains bound, even though he feels free as long as he stays on earth. But once he has to take the path into the spiritual kingdom as soon as the earthly world closes itself to him at the time of his physical death.... But then he will find nothing to replace what he has given up; the kingdom of light will not accept him, for he is not suitable for it, he will always be drawn back to earth, and even there he will no longer be accepted.... he is in the spiritual kingdom but in unspeakable torment and darkness because he did not use earthly life to strive for light and life....

Zwei verschiedene Welten....

Es sind zwei Welten, das geistige Reich und die irdische Welt, und sie sind nicht beide zugleich zu betreten, weil sie völlig gegensätzlich sind und also der Mensch sich entscheiden muß für eine dieser beiden Welten. Die irdische Welt ist zwar der naturmäßige Aufenthalt des Menschen und darum auch dem Menschen erscheinend als sein Reich, dem er den Tribut zu zollen habe. Doch die Aufgabe des Menschen besteht darin, daß die Seele sich von allen Eindrücken dieser irdischen Welt frei mache, daß sie den Schein dieser erkennt und dem Wahren entgegenstrebe, daß sie sich erhebet in das Reich, das nach kurzer Zeit ihr Aufenthalt sein wird, das ihre wahre Heimat ist und das ihr das bietet, was ihr niemals die irdische Welt bieten kann.... unbegrenzte Seligkeit und ewiges Leben.... Diese Erkenntnis soll der Mensch auf Erden gewinnen, daß er nur vorübergehend eine Welt bewohnt, die vergänglich ist, eine Welt, wo alles darauf gleichsam nur Schein ist, wo alles überwunden werden soll, um sich frei erheben zu können in das geistige Reich, das bestehenbleibt, wenn die irdische Welt vergeht. Das Erkennen dessen beeinflußt den Willen und das Handeln des Menschen und kann zur Folge haben, daß der Mensch im geistigen Reich weilt, obgleich er noch auf Erden lebt. Er hat sich aber dann von der irdischen Welt willensmäßig und gedanklich losgesagt, denn er verachtet die irdische Welt, sowie er die geistige Welt anstrebt, weil beide zugleich anzustreben nicht möglich ist. Es sind zwei verschiedene Reiche.... Und auch ihre Herren sind völlig gegensätzlich, denn die irdische Welt ist wohl durch Gottes Willen erstanden, doch alle Schöpfungen gehören noch ihrer geistigen Beschaffenheit nach dem Gegner Gottes an, und dieses Geistige, das in den Schöpfungswerken gebunden ist, soll befreit werden aus der Gewalt dessen. Die endgültige Befreiung nun soll der Mensch selbst vollziehen, indem er sich freiwillig löset von allem der Erde Angehörenden, indem er sein Verlangen, sein Begehren abwendet von den Dingen der irdischen Welt und es dem geistigen Reich zuwendet, er also bewußt nach dem Reich Gottes strebt. Dieses Streben setzt aber zuvor das Erkennen der Wertlosigkeit alles Irdischen voraus, es setzt den Glauben voraus an einen Gott, Der vollkommen ist und in Seiner Liebe Seinen Geschöpfen ein seliges Los bereiten will, und es setzt also auch die Liebe des Menschen zu Gott voraus, ansonsten Gott und Sein Reich nicht angestrebt würde.... Es setzt einen Grad der Erkenntnis voraus.... Und dieser soll den Menschen ermöglicht werden durch Zuleiten des göttlichen Wortes, denn zuvor muß der Mensch hingewiesen werden auf seine Erdenlebensaufgabe, ehe er sich nun irgendwie entscheiden kann. Der Mensch steht wohl inmitten der irdischen Welt, und doch soll er streben nach dem geistigen Reich. In jeder Weise steht Gott ihm bei, von der irdischen Welt frei zu werden, doch wer der Erde und ihren Gütern anhanget, der wird niemals den Weg suchen nach oben, er wird sich auch niemals trennen wollen und können, denn er läßt sich noch halten von dem Herrn der Welt, er richtet seinen Blick nicht nach oben, und er bleibet daher gefesselt, wenngleich er sich frei fühlt, solange er auf Erden weilt. Doch den Weg ins geistige Reich muß er einmal gehen, sowie die irdische Welt sich ihm verschließt bei seinem Leibestode.... Dann aber findet er nichts, was ihm Ersatz bietet für das, was er aufgegeben hat; das Reich des Lichtes nimmt ihn nicht auf, denn er ist für dieses nicht tauglich, es zieht ihn immer wieder zur Erde zurück, und auch dort findet er keine Aufnahme mehr.... er ist im geistigen Reich, doch in unsäglicher Qual und Dunkelheit, weil er das Erdenleben nicht genützet hat zum Streben nach Licht und Leben....
