No one can serve two masters....

He who can give up everything will also gain everything. You cannot serve two masters, the world and Me at the same time, but you must give up one if you want to win the other. Thus you must sacrifice the world if you want to gain Me, but then you will receive more than the earthly world, for the kingdom, which is My share, is incomparably more beautiful than the world you gave up for My sake. But if you want to possess the world then you cannot possess Me at the same time, for I am not to be found there, and those who seek Me must do so outside the earthly world. You will truly not lose much if you give up the world for My sake, for I will compensate you for the loss a thousand fold and you will never regret it once you have gained Me. My kingdom is not of this world, therefore you should not attach your heart to that which is worthless, and you must make an effort to be accepted into that land and learn to despise the earthly world. You must free yourselves from all earthly possessions, from all desire for them, and only strive for that which is eternal, which belongs to Me and therefore must be extremely valuable. Leave behind what belongs to earth and strive towards My kingdom.... turn your eyes heavenwards and you will see more than earth can ever offer you. Learn to overcome the world if you want to possess Me, and decide what is of greater value to you.... but decide for what is right, for it concerns your fate after death, it concerns eternal life....

아무도 두 주인을 섬길 수 없다.

모든 것을 줄 수 있는 사람이 모든 것을 얻게 될 것이다. 두 주인인 세상과 나를 동시에 섬길 수는 없고, 하나를 얻으려면 다른 하나를 포기해야만 한다. 그러므로 나를 얻기 원하면, 세상을 희생해야만 한다. 그러면 너희는 이 땅의 세상보다 더 많은 것을 받게 된다. 왜냐면 나의 소유인 나라는 나를 위해 포기한 세상보다 비교할 수 없을 정도로 아름답기 때문이다. 그러나 너희가 세상을 소유하기 원하면, 너희는 동시에 나를 소유할 수 없다. 왜냐면 세상에서는 나를 찾을 수 없고, 나를 찾는 사람들은 세상 밖에서 찾아야 하기 때문이다. 너희가 나를 위해 세상을 내어주더라도 너희는 진실로 많은 것을 잃지 않게 된다. 왜냐면 내가 너희를 위해 손실을 천 배로 보상해주기 때문이고, 너희가 나를 한번 얻었다면, 너희는 절대로 후회하지 않게 될 것이기 때문이다.

나의 나라는 이 세상으로부터 온 것이 아니다. 그러므로 너희는 너희의 심장이 무가치한 것에 연연해서는 안 된다. 너희는 나의 나라의 영접을 받기 위해 노력해야만 하고, 이 땅의 세상을 경멸하는 법을 배워야만 한다. 너희는 세상의 모든 재물과 세상 재물을 향한 모든 갈망으로부터 자유롭게 되야만 하고, 유일하게 영원한 것을 위해, 나에게 속한 것을 위해 그러므로 아주 귀중해야만 하는 것을 위해 추구해야만 한다. 세상에 속한 것을 너희 뒤 전에 두고 나의 나라를 추구해야 한다. 너희의 관점을 하늘로 향하게 하라. 너희는 이 땅이 제공할 수 있는 것보다 더 많은 것을 볼 수 있게 될 것이다. 너희가 나를 소유하기 원하면, 세상을 극복하는 법을 배우라. 너희 자신에게 더 큰 가치가 있는 것이 무엇인지 스스로 정하라. 그러나 너희를 위해 옳은 결정을 하라. 왜냐면 이 결정이 죽음 후의 너희의 운명이 되기 때문이고, 이 결정이 영원한 생명에 관한 결정이기 때문이다.
