Knowledge.... love - truth - God....

The clear realization of what exists, thus what can be called spiritual knowledge, is only part of perfection and can therefore never be achieved intellectually but only through a will which is completely subordinate to God's will and which results in a way of life which is full of love and which returns the being to its original state, to the state of freedom, light and strength. Then the being, whether on earth or in the beyond, will no longer be ignorant of things, then it will know everything, about God's rule and activity, about the connection of all created things with the creator, it will know about the original beginning and the final aim, about the meaning and purpose of divine activity and its cause and effect. Then the being has thus become knowledgeable, it stands in the light and can radiate light itself and again dispel darkness where good will is present again. To gain deep knowledge through thought alone is not possible because the intellect of man certainly carries out a spiritual activity, therefore seeks to order the thoughts, however as long as it happens without spiritual support, therefore where the intellect alone seeks to reach knowledge without the heart. The human being must be good from within, that is, he must feel driven to work of love, only then will the spirit of God come into action, which now orders and directs the human being's thinking, his intellectual activity, and only then will the result of intellectual thinking correspond to truth, which, however, will not have been achieved by the intellect but by the heart, which to a certain extent influences the intellect to receive and process the thoughts flowing in from the spiritual kingdom. The complete subordination of the will to the divine will is the first condition and presupposes this deep love for God and humility, which finds its expression in serving neighbourly love. Therefore, only the human being who fulfils the divine commandments and thus, through a life of love, unites himself with the one Who is eternal love Himself, but Who is also eternal truth and consequently all knowledge, the pure truth, must originate from Him but can never be passed on to those people who are indeed intellectually extremely active but devoid of all love. For they have no connection with the original source of love and truth and therefore cannot possess or achieve anything which God reserves for those who love Him and keep His commandments. What is not possible for the keenest intellect, to penetrate the all-encompassing knowledge, to penetrate the essence of the eternal deity, is easily possible for a loving heart, and again, even the keenest intellect will find a process incomprehensible which nevertheless results in demonstrable success. For the fact that a person without prior education can provide information and enlightenment requires knowledge which can therefore only have been conveyed to him spiritually and which therefore has to be regarded as proof that the deepest wisdom, the eternal truth, can only be gained through love....

깨달음. 사랑과 지혜의 하나님.

영구적이고 영적인 지식이라고 부를 수 있는 것을 선명하게 깨닫는 일은 온전한 것의 단지 일부이다. 그러므로 이성으로는 절대로 이런 깨달음에 도달할 수 없고 단지 하나님의 뜻에 완전히 종속시킨 의지를 통해 도달할 수 있다. 이런 의지가 사랑을 적극적으로 행하는 삶을 살게 하고, 존재가 자유와 빛과 힘을 가진 상태인 원래의 상태가 되게 한다. 그러면 이 땅에서나 저 세상에서나 존재가 깨닫지 못하는 것이 더 이상 없게 된다. 그러면 존재는 모든 것을 알고, 하나님의 사역과 역사에 대해 알고, 창조주와 창조된 모든 것의 연관관계를 알고, 원초의 시작과 끝에 대해 알고, 하나님의 역사의 의미와 목적과 하나님의 역사의 원인과 결과에 대해 알게 된다.

그러면 존재는 알게 되었고 빛 가운데 있고 스스로 빛을 발산하고 선한 의지가 있는 곳에서 어두움을 다시 몰아 낼 수 있다. 단지 깊이 생각하는 일을 통해 깊은 지식을 얻는 일은 불가능하다. 왜냐면 비록 인간의 이성이 실제 영적인 일을 할지라도, 즉 생각을 정리하려고 시도할지라도, 그가 사랑을 행하지 않는 동안에는 받지 못하는 영적인 도움이 없이 심장을 참여시키지 않고 유일하게 이성을 통해 깨달음에 도달하려고 시도하기 때문이다.

인간은 내면으로부터 선해야만 한다. 즉 사랑을 행하도록 재촉받는 느낌을 가져야만 한다. 그러면 하나님의 영이 비로소 역사하고, 이제 인간의 생각과 그의 이성의 활동을 정리하고 인도한다. 그러면 비로소 이성을 통한 생각의 결과가 진리에 합당하게 될 것이다. 그러나 이런 결과는 이성에 의해 얻은 것이 아니라, 심장에 의해 얻은 것이다. 심장이 어느 정도 이성에 영향을 미쳐, 이성이 영의 나라에서 흘러나오는 생각을 받아들이고 처리하게 한 것이다. 의지가 하나님의 뜻에 완전하게 복종하는 일이 첫 번째 조건이다. 이렇게 되기 위해 섬기는 이웃 사랑으로 나타나는 하나님을 향한 깊은 사랑과 겸손이 필요하다.

그러므로 하나님의 계명을 성취하고, 사랑을 행하는 사람을 통해 영원한 사랑 자체인 분이고 또한 영원한 진리인 분과 연합한 사람이 단지 진정으로 지혜롭게 될 수 있다. (1949년 7월 24일) 결과적으로 모든 지식과 순수한 진리가 그 분으로부터 나와야만 하고, 실제 이성적으로 아주 활동적이지만 사랑이 없는 사람들에게는 절대로 모든 지식과 순수한 진리를 줄 수 없다. 왜냐면 그들은 사랑과 진리의 원천과 연결이 되어 있지 않기 때문이다. 그러므로 그들은 하나님을 사랑하고 하나님의 계명을 지키는 사람들을 위해 하나님 자신이 예비하신 것을 소유하거나 성취할 수 없다.

가장 예리한 이성에게 불가능한 일인 모든 것을 포함하는 지식을 얻는 일과 영원한 하나님의 본질을 아는 일이 사랑을 행하는 심장에게는 쉽고 가능한 일이고, 가장 예리한 이성조차도 이해하기 어려운 과정을 증명할 수 있게 성공시킬 것이다. 왜냐면 사전에 교육을 받지 않은 사람에게 가장 광범위한 정보와 설명을 해줄 수 있으려면 단지 영적인 방식으로 제공될 수 있는 지식이 필요하기 때문이다. 그러므로 단지 사랑을 통해 가장 깊은 지혜인 영원한 진리를 얻을 수 있다는 증거를 인정해야만 한다.
