Weakness of people.... sin.... love....

Protect yourselves from impure thoughts, words and actions, and you will walk rightly before God. No commandment is given to you but only admonitions and warnings which are placed in your heart as the voice of conscience. You are in possession of free will and can therefore do whatever you want, and thus you can also disregard the commandment of love for God and your neighbour, even though it is a commandment. But in the same way you can also lead your way of life more or less in accordance with divine will, for this divine will sets the perfection of the soul as the final aim, and in order to achieve this the human being has to work on himself and discard everything which characterizes his imperfection. The soul must become master over the body, it must adapt its desire to its own, it must strive upwards, thus it must value spiritual goods more highly than earthly ones, it must overcome the world and strive for the spiritual kingdom. The simplest way to do this is love.... A loving person will always have more desire for spiritual good than for earthly pleasures and earthly possessions. Nevertheless, he will not completely overcome the world as long as he still lives in the midst of it. And this will not be counted as a sin, only as an obstacle to climbing the last rung of the ladder to heaven. And man himself must cope with this obstacle. God does not condemn him, but He helps him to free himself from desires and vices. He knows about people's weaknesses and takes them into account because He loves people and a loving father grants his children what will not harm their souls. And so the human being will also have weak hours and God will forgive him, He will not condemn him for his weakness. He does not sin, he just does not strive for the height if he pays too much tribute to earth, and the soul's work afterwards has to start the more intensively the more he belonged to the world, i.e. gave fulfilment to his body. But now the measure also speaks, for as soon as earthly desire outweighs spiritual activity the human being deprives himself of God's blessing, and then he lacks the strength to ascend....

(14.5.1947) But anyone who remains united with God in the midst of the whirlpool of the world, who does not miss any opportunity and is constantly intent on appealing for God's grace and help, who comes to Him for advice with every request, God will not abandon him in hours of adversity of body and soul. And His aid is love.... Where love is there is no sin, but where love is missing the human being will have to watch himself and his thoughts. He should constantly control himself, he should not make himself a slave to his urges, he should educate himself to love, for everything that testifies to love is noble and good, and what lacks love can easily become sin. But God sees people's hearts and always guides the thoughts of His own, He will not allow them to fall into sin.... but He will also be a lenient judge for the weak who love Him....

사람들의 연약함. 죄. 사랑.

불결한 생각과 말과 행동으로부터 너희 자신을 보호하라. 그러면 너희는 하나님 앞에서 올바르게 살게 될 것이다. 너희에게 계명이 주어지지 않았고, 단지 양심의 음성으로 너희 심장 안의 훈계와 경고를 주었다. 너희는 자유의지를 가지고 있고, 그러므로 너희가 원하는 일을 할 수 있고, 하나님과 이웃을 사랑하라는 계명이 계명이지만 무시할 수 있다. 그러나 너희는 마찬가지로 너희의 삶을 크거나 적게 하나님의 뜻에 따라 살 수 있다. 하나님이 정한 최종적인 목표는 혼이 온전하게 되는 일이고, 사람이 이런 목표에 도달하기 위해 자신에 대한 작업을 해야만 하고, 온전하지 못한 모든 것을 버려야만 한다.

혼은 육체의 주인이 되어야만 하고, 혼은 육체의 욕망을 자신에 맞게 조정해야 하고, 혼은 위를 추구해야만 하고, 따라서 이 땅의 재물보다 영적인 재물을 더 중요하게 생각해야 하고, 혼은 세상을 이겨야만 하고, 영의 나라를 추구해야만 한다. 이를 위한 가장 쉬운 방법은 사랑이다. 사랑을 행하는 사람은 항상 세상의 기쁨과 세상의 소유물보다 영적인 재물에 대한 갈망을 더 많이 가질 것이다. 그럴지라도 그가 세상의 한가운데서 사는 동안에는, 그는 세상을 남김없이 극복하지는 못할 것이고, 이런 일은 그에게 죄로 간주되지 않을 것이다. 이런 일은 하늘나라로 올라가는 사다리의 마지막 계단을 오르는 데 단지 장애가 된다. 사람은 스스로 이 장애물을 극복해야만 한다. 하나님은 그를 정죄하지 않고, 그가 욕망과 죄짐에서 벗어나도록 돕는다. 하나님은 사람들의 약점을 알고 이를 고려한다. 왜냐면 하나님은 사람들을 사랑하고, 사랑하는 아버지는 혼에 해가 되지 않는 것을 자신의 자녀들에게 제공하기 때문이다.

사람에게 연약한 때가 있게 될 것이고, 하나님은 그에게 관대할 것이고, 그의 연약함 때문에 그를 정죄하지 않을 것이다. 그가 죄를 짓는 것은 아니고, 그가 너무 많이 세상을 섬기면, 그가 단지 높은 곳을 추구하지 않는 것이고, 그가 세상에 더 많이 속하게 될수록, 즉 자신의 몸을 너무 많이 충족시킬수록, 그후에 혼의 대한 작업은 더욱 강렬하게 시작돼야만 한다. 그러나 정도가 이제 말을 해준다. 왜냐면 세상에 대한 욕망이 영적인 역사보다 크게 되면, 사람이 스스로 자신에게서 하나님의 축복을 빼앗고, 그에게 성장할 힘이 부족하게 되기 때문이다.

(1947년 5월 14일) 그러나 세상의 소용돌이 속에서 하나님과 연결되어 머무는 사람은 어떤 기회도 놓치지 않고, 끊임없이 하나님의 은혜와 도움을 구한다. 하나님은 모든 안건을 가지고 자신에게 나와 조언을 구하는 사람을 그의 몸과 혼이 위험에 처할 때, 버려두지 않는다. 하나님이 주는 도움의 수단은 사랑이다. 사랑이 있는 곳에 죄가 없다. 그러나 사랑이 없다면, 사람은 자신과 자신의 생각에 주의를 기울여야만 한다. 그는 끊임없이 자신을 통제해야만 하고, 자신을 본능의 노예로 만들지 않아야 하고, 자신을 사랑을 행하도록 양육해야 한다. 왜냐면 사랑을 증거하는 모든 일은 고귀하고 선하고, 사랑이 없는 일은 쉽게 죄가 될 수 있기 때문이다. 그러나 하나님은 사람의 심장을 보고, 언제든지 자신에게 속한 사람들의 생각을 인도하고, 그들이 죄에 빠지는 일을 허용하지 않을 것이다. 하나님은 마찬가지로 자신을 사랑하는 사람에게 관대한 심판관이 될 것이다.
