Activity in the afterlife and possibility of ascent....

Souls whose level of maturity is still very low lack all strength in the afterlife. They therefore experience nameless torment. They are aware of the strength they had at their disposal on earth. Their lot is therefore worsened and they realize that they are incapable of improving their situation. The state of suffering cannot be described to people, it is a state of extreme poverty and most agonizing discomfort. And in this misery they are joined by souls who try to shake them out of their lethargy and first of all show them the agonizing nature of their condition in order to awaken in them the will to do something to improve their situation. The nature of this activity is incomprehensible to people, it is a serving occupation which, however, has no earthly basis but which is adapted to the spiritual kingdom and therefore cannot be explained to people. Nevertheless, it is an activity which requires the soul's will; it is an activity which it can carry out when the will to help is aroused in it. Only the will to help brings about an improvement in the soul's situation and therefore also progress in its spiritual development. However, it is extremely difficult to motivate such weak, lowly souls to make themselves useful in order to help other souls. In most cases these souls are so absorbed in their own suffering that they have no sympathy for the suffering of other souls. They carelessly pass them by, indeed they often inflict suffering on each other, and their nature is unloving towards each other. But then the soul feels even greater agonies, and these increase to the point of unbearability in order to make the soul compliant when the beings of light approach it in their disguise. The resistance is often great, but on the other hand the souls perceive the participation in their adversity as a benefit, even if they are initially hostile; they then do not want to miss the participation and desire it, and this is already a small step forward which the beings of light eagerly utilize. And this work on the immature souls requires much love and patience on the part of the beings of light. But the success is also so gratifying that they constantly endeavour to bring redemption to these poor souls. As soon as the soul has become more compliant, the work of the beings of light can begin on it. They now show it that it worsens its fate through unkindness but can improve it through love. They try to stimulate it to help by showing it the suffering of the other souls and now work towards the soul helping them. They leave the soul's will free so that it should carry out the helping activity of its own accord. And if the soul does this then the ascent also begins for the needy souls, for the other souls also benefit from it because they themselves do to their fellow-suffering souls what is done to them. The redeeming activity in the beyond is an uninterrupted labour of love of inconceivable importance, so that the souls which have failed on earth can still develop upwards in the beyond and enjoy the happiness and bliss of heaven....

Tätigkeit im Jenseits und Aufstiegsmöglichkeit....

Den Seelen, deren Reifegrad ein noch sehr niedriger ist, mangelt es im Jenseits an jeglicher Kraft. Sie erleben darum namenlose Qualen. Sie sind sich der Kraft bewußt, über die sie auf Erden verfügen konnten. Es ist also ihr Los verschlechtert, und sie erkennen, daß sie unfähig sind, ihre Lage zu bessern. Der Leidenszustand ist den Menschen nicht zu beschreiben, es ist ein Zustand äußerster Dürftigkeit und qualvollsten Unbehagens. Und in dieser Not gesellen sich ihnen Seelen zu, die den Versuch machen, sie aus ihrer Lethargie aufzurütteln, und ihnen zunächst das Qualvolle ihres Zustandes vor Augen führen, um in ihnen den Willen zu erwecken, etwas zur Aufbesserung ihrer Lage zu tun. Die Art dieser Tätigkeit ist für die Menschen unbegreiflich, es ist eine dienende Beschäftigung, die aber keine irdische Grundlage hat, sondern die dem geistigen Reich angepaßt ist und daher dem Menschen nicht erklärt werden kann. Dennoch ist es eine Tätigkeit, die den Willen der Seele zur Voraussetzung hat; es ist eine Tätigkeit, die sie ausführen kann, wenn der Wille in ihr rege wird zu helfen. Nur das Helfen-Wollen trägt der Seele eine Verbesserung ihrer Lage und somit auch einen Fortschritt in ihrer geistigen Entwicklung ein. Es ist aber überaus schwer, solche kraftlose, niedrige Seelen dazu anzuregen, sie zu bewegen, sich nützlich zu machen, um anderen Seelen zu helfen. Zumeist sind gerade diese Seelen so durchdrungen vom eigenen Leid, daß sie für das Leid der anderen Seelen kein Mitgefühl haben. Sie gehen achtlos an ihnen vorüber, ja sie fügen sich oft noch Leid zu, und ihr Wesen ist lieblos gegeneinander. Aber desto größere Qualen empfindet die Seele dann, und es steigern sich diese bis zur Unerträglichkeit, um die Seele gefügig zu machen, wenn sich ihr nun die Lichtwesen in ihrer Verkleidung nahen. Der Widerstand ist oft groß, doch andererseits empfinden die Seelen die Teilnahme an ihrer Not als Wohltat, und ob sie auch anfänglich ablehnend sind; sie wollen dann die Teilnahme nicht missen und verlangen danach, und dies ist schon ein kleiner Fortschritt, den die Lichtwesen eifrig nützen. Und es erfordert diese Arbeit an den unreifen Seelen viel Liebe und Geduld der Lichtwesen. Es ist aber auch der Erfolg ein so beglückender, daß sie unentwegt bemüht sind, diesen armen Seelen Erlösung zu bringen. Sowie die Seele nur nachgiebiger geworden ist, kann die Arbeit der Lichtwesen an ihr beginnen. Diese stellen ihr nun vor, daß sie sich durch Lieblosigkeit ihr Los verschlimmert, durch Liebe aber es verbessern kann. Sie suchen sie zur helfenden Tätigkeit anzuregen, indem sie ihr das Leid der anderen Seelen vorhalten und nun darauf hinwirken, daß die Seele diesen beisteht. Sie lassen zwar dem Willen der Seele Freiheit, so daß diese die helfende Tätigkeit aus eigenem Antrieb ausführen soll. Und tut dies die Seele, dann beginnt auch der Aufstieg für die notleidenden Seelen, denn auch die anderen Seelen profitieren dadurch, weil sie selbst das ihren mitleidenden Seelen tun, was an ihnen getan wird. Es ist die erlösende Tätigkeit im Jenseits ein ununterbrochenes Liebeswirken von unvorstellbarer Bedeutung, auf daß die Seelen, die auf Erden versagt haben, doch noch im Jenseits sich zur Höhe entwickeln können und das Glück und die Seligkeit des Himmels genießen können....
