Suffering comes to the righteous and the unrighteous....

It is intended by divine decree that a time of unspeakable suffering will come upon the earth for the sake of human souls. It will only still be possible to save them through much suffering, and thus humanity will have to endure much sorrow and hardship which shall result in a change of thinking. And many righteous people will have to suffer for the sake of these souls, and this will serve them again for the spiritual higher development and perfection of their souls. They are, as it were, forced to sacrifice their state of suffering, which they cannot completely escape, to their fellow human beings, i.e. if they bear it without grumbling and complaining and resign themselves to everything, they are, as it were, sacrificing all suffering to those who are in need of purification. The righteous must suffer with the unrighteous and often bear the consequences of the latter's way of life, but his spiritual maturity also allows him to recognize the necessity of what God sends upon people, and so he resigns himself to his fate without complaint. He is already imbued with the will of God and does not oppose Him in his thoughts and feelings. Rather, he tries to make his fellow human beings understand the meaning and purpose of the difficult trial and to persuade them to distance themselves from the world and devote themselves to the care of their souls. He reproaches them for their wrong way of life and its consequences and helps those who are too weak and yet have good will. The righteous must suffer with the unrighteous, but the suffering will be bearable for him because he will not go his way on earth without God. He will receive strength and not feel the suffering as severely as his fellow human being in need of purification, and thus he will humbly submit to divine will. And if he has to give up his life then he will be granted twofold favours in the kingdom of the beyond so that he will not lose the favours of earthly life if he has not yet reached his state of maturity. Then he will have laid down his life for his fellow human beings and this will be rewarded to him. For God gives to all according to their merits, and every undeserved suffering results in the richest blessing, as soon as a person humbly submits to everything God sends him....

Het leed komt over rechtvaardigen en onrechtvaardigen

Het is in het goddelijk besluit voorzien dat er een tijd van ontzaglijk leed over de aarde komt ter wille van de menselijke ziel. Redding van dezen zal alleen nog door veel leed mogelijk zijn en dus zal de mensheid veel kommer en nood hebben te verdragen, welke een verandering van het denken tot gevolg moet hebben. En er zullen vele rechtvaardigen moeten lijden ter wille van deze zielen en dit dient weer hun positieve geestelijke ontwikkeling en de vervolmaking van hun ziel. Ze zijn als het ware gedwongen, hun toestand van lijden die ze niet geheel kunnen ontgaan, aan hun medemensen op te offeren. Dat wil zeggen als ze deze zonder morren en klagen dragen en zich berustend in alles schikken, offeren ze als het ware al het leed op aan diegenen die loutering nodig hebben.

De rechtvaardige moet met de onrechtvaardige lijden en vaak de gevolgen van de levenswandel van de laatsten mee verdragen, maar de toestand van rijpheid van zijn ziel laat hem ook de noodzakelijkheid inzien van datgene wat God over de mensen zendt, en zo schikt hij zich zonder klagen in zijn lot. Hij is al doordrongen van de wil van God en biedt Hem geen tegenstand in zijn denken en voelen. Veel meer probeert hij de medemensen de zin en het doel van de zware beproeving duidelijk te maken en hen te bewegen afstand te nemen van de wereld en zich te wijden aan de zorg voor hun ziel. Hij houdt hen hun verkeerde levenswandel voor en de gevolgen ervan, en helpt diegenen die te zwak en toch van goede wil zijn.

De rechtvaardige moet met de onrechtvaardige lijden. Toch zal voor hem het leed draaglijk zijn omdat hij niet zonder God zijn weg over de aarde gaat. Hij zal kracht ontvangen en het leed niet zo zwaar voelen als de medemens die loutering nodig heeft, en dus schikt hij zich berustend in de goddelijke wil. En als hij zijn leven moeten laten, dan wordt hem dubbele genade verleend in het rijk hierna, zodat hij de genaden van het leven op aarde niet verliest als hij zijn graad van rijpheid nog niet heeft bereikt. Dan heeft hij zijn leven gegeven voor de medemensen en dit zal hem vergolden worden. Want God geeft allen naar hun verdiensten en elk onverdiend leed heeft de rijkste zegen tot gevolg, zodra de mens zich berustend schikt in alles wat God hem zendt.
