Weakened will and overcoming it....

The human will is not always resistant to the temptations of the power hostile to God, even if it does not recognize them, and this is usually the case when worldly life pushes itself too much into the foreground. Then, to a certain extent, the world with its charms captivates the will and its power of resistance diminishes, even though it fights against it. And the enemy lies in wait for such moments in order to prevent the strengthening of the will through small temptations and to turn to it through the desire for the world. And if a person is not very careful, he falls prey to these temptations and the enemy has won the game. But if a person wrestles with this weakness of will, he will also have great spiritual success as soon as he overcomes the world and seeks to serve God. Then he will also be given strength and can now use his will for the honour of God.... Jesus Christ is to be called upon in every weakness of will, so that He transmits the strength directly to the person, and now the person can be active and he will become master of the temptations. Every weakness of will means decline or standstill, but overcome weakness of will means a victory over oneself. Man must indeed fight, but it is about a high reward.... He knows about the success of a properly utilized will as well as about the failure, and therefore he offers all his strength and requests such through prayer in order not to fail in his last test of earthly life. And these struggles have to be in order to be an antidote against lukewarmness and indifference, for where the human being is in danger he becomes vigilant and looks after himself, and where the will threatens to fail he has to be stimulated to resist, and this through all kinds of adversities which have to be overcome and therefore require the will to become active. But God knows about the innermost will and directs everything in a way that is most beneficial for the human being....

연약해진 의지와 이를 극복하는 일.

사람의 의지는 하나님의 대적자의 권세의 공격에 저항할 수 있는 능력이 항상 있지 않다. 사람이 이를 인정하지 않을 지라도, 사람이 세상의 삶을 지나치게 우선 순위로 한다면, 그런 경우가 대부분이다. 그러면 세상이 그의 유혹으로 어느정도 의지를 사로잡고, 비록 그가 세상에 대항해 싸울 지라도, 그의 저항력은 약해진다. 대적자는 작은 유혹을 통해 의지가 강해지는 일을 막고, 의지가 세상을 향한 갈망을 통해 자신에게 향하게 하기 위해 바로 이런 순간을 기다린다. 그러므로 사람이 아주 조심하지 않으면, 그는 이런 유혹에 빠지고, 대적자가 승리하는 경기가 된다.

그러나 사람이 이런 연약한 의지로 싸울 때, 그리고 그가 단지 세상을 극복하고, 하나님을 섬기려고 한다면, 그는 큰 영적 승리를 한다. 그러면 그는 능력을 받고, 이제 하나님의 영광을 위해 자신의 의지를 사용할 수 있다. 모든 의지가 약해진 상황 가운데 예수 그리스도를 불러야 한다. 이로써 예수 그리스도가 직접 사람들에게 능력을 공급하고, 사람은 이제 역사할 수 있게 되고, 그는 공격에 대항하여 승리할 것이다. 모든 의지의 연약함은 퇴보나 또는 침체상태를 의미한다. 그러나 연약한 의지를 극복하는 일은 자기 자신에 대한 승리를 의미한다. 사람은 실제 영적 싸움을 해야만 하지만, 그러나 이 싸움은 큰 상급을 위한 싸움이다.

그는 올바르게 사용한 의지의 성공을 알고, 또한 실패를 안다. 그러므로 그는 자신의 모든 힘을 드리고, 자신의 이 땅의 삶의 마지막 시험에 실패하지 않으려고 기도를 통해 능력을 구한다. 영적인 미지근함과 무관심에 대항하기 위해 이런 싸움들이 있어야만 한다. 왜냐하면 사람은 위험에 처할 때, 깨어나고, 자신에게 주의를 기울이기 때문이다. 의지가 실패할 위험에 있는 사람은 저항하도록, 극복해야 하는 모든 악조건들을 통해, 이로써 의지가 행동을 취하기를 요구하는 일을 통해 자극을 받아야만 한다. 그러나 하나님은 우리의 가장 깊은 내면의 의지를 알기 때문에, 사람에게 가장 도움이 되게 모든 일을 인도한다.
