Weakened will and overcoming it....

The human will is not always resistant to the temptations of the power hostile to God, even if it does not recognize them, and this is usually the case when worldly life pushes itself too much into the foreground. Then, to a certain extent, the world with its charms captivates the will and its power of resistance diminishes, even though it fights against it. And the enemy lies in wait for such moments in order to prevent the strengthening of the will through small temptations and to turn to it through the desire for the world. And if a person is not very careful, he falls prey to these temptations and the enemy has won the game. But if a person wrestles with this weakness of will, he will also have great spiritual success as soon as he overcomes the world and seeks to serve God. Then he will also be given strength and can now use his will for the honour of God.... Jesus Christ is to be called upon in every weakness of will, so that He transmits the strength directly to the person, and now the person can be active and he will become master of the temptations. Every weakness of will means decline or standstill, but overcome weakness of will means a victory over oneself. Man must indeed fight, but it is about a high reward.... He knows about the success of a properly utilized will as well as about the failure, and therefore he offers all his strength and requests such through prayer in order not to fail in his last test of earthly life. And these struggles have to be in order to be an antidote against lukewarmness and indifference, for where the human being is in danger he becomes vigilant and looks after himself, and where the will threatens to fail he has to be stimulated to resist, and this through all kinds of adversities which have to be overcome and therefore require the will to become active. But God knows about the innermost will and directs everything in a way that is most beneficial for the human being....

La volontà indebolita ed il suo superamento

La volontà umana non è sempre capace di resistere contro le aggressioni del potere nemico di Dio, benché non le riconosca e questo è quasi sempre il caso, quando la vita mondana si spinge troppo nel proscenio. Allora il mondo con i suoi fascini cattura in certo qual modo la volontà e la sua forza di resistenza cede, benché la combatta. Ed il nemico è in agguato per tali momenti, per poi impedire con piccole tentazioni la fortificazione della volontà e di rivolgerla a sé attraverso il desiderio per il mondo. E se l’uomo non è molto in guardia, cade in queste tentazioni ed il nemico ha vinto il gioco. Ma se l’uomo lotta con questa debolezza di forza, allora ha anche un grande successo spirituale, appena vince soltanto il mondo e cerca di servire Dio. Allora viene anche provveduto con la Forza ed ora può usare la sua volontà per dare l’onore a Dio. In ogni debolezza di volontà Gesù Cristo dev’essere invocato affinché Egli trasmetta direttamente la Forza all’uomo ed ora costui può essere attivo e potrà diventare padrone delle aggressioni. Ogni debolezza di volontà significa una retrocessione oppure un arresto, ma aver superata la debolezza della volontà significa una vittoria su sé stesso. L’uomo deve bensì combattere, ma si tratta di un’alta ricompensa. Egli sà del successo di una volontà usata bene come del fallimento, e quindi impiega tutta la sua forza e la richiede attraverso la preghiera per non fallire nell’ultima prova della sua vita terrena. E queste lotte devono esistere per essere un antidoto contro la tiepidezza e l’indifferenza, perché dove l’uomo è in pericolo egli diventa vigile e bada a sé, e dove la volontà minaccia di fallire, là dev’essere stimolata alla resistenza e questo attraverso diverse avversità che devono essere superate e perciò è necessario che la volontà diventi attiva. Ma Dio sà della volontà più intima e la guida in modo come è più utile per l’uomo.
