Living faith....

Living faith is what people lack, but it is the most important thing, because without living faith a person does not establish a connection with God. In order to strive for God and to desire union with Him, He must first be affirmed in the heart. He must be felt as existing, therefore man must believe in Him that He is and is in the closest connection with His creatures. Only this living faith results in consciously striving for Him. And so faith is absolutely necessary and it can never be replaced, for without faith the prayer to God for strength and grace is futile. He who does not recognize God does not call upon Him. But God's call for strength cannot be avoided because man alone has too little strength for higher development, but this is the goal of life on earth. Living faith means being able to stand up for something with full conviction, which cannot be proven, and then also to live according to this conviction, i.e. to put it into practice. In most cases, however, people only have a dead faith, that is, they only affirm with their mouth and recognize everything that is demanded of them to believe; but as soon as they are supposed to live according to their faith they don't have the strength to do so because they are unable to pray, that is, to request help. And if they now seriously think about it then they realize that their inner being, their heart, is not at all in an affirmative mood, that they therefore have no living faith at all. But without this faith the human being fails in life, for now he lacks every foundation, he cannot understand the meaning and purpose of creation either, for everything that is related to God cannot be proven but must be believed, i.e. affirmed with the heart, and humanity lacks this living faith.... It may talk about the deity and supposedly profess it, but it actually only affirms the existence of a creator, since creation requires one. However, it does not recognize the connection between all things and therefore also not the relationship between man and the creator. However, the right relationship between man and the creator can only be established when man is convinced of a being Who leans towards him in love. For now he seeks to win this love for himself through prayer and devotion to his creator. Prayer, however, presupposes faith in a power Which can do anything It wants and wants everything that is good.... So the being must be omnipotent and loving.... The belief in such a perfect being can only be called a living one, for this belief only stimulates activity.... the human being likewise strives for perfection because he has the desire to come closer to the eternal deity, Which he now recognizes, but this requires the will to become active. However, where living faith is lacking, the will also remains inactive, or it sets itself a false goal.... it strives towards the world and the human being does not establish a connection with the being Who created him. The lack of faith is therefore the cause of the most diverse schools of thought, which aim to teach man's independence from the power that created him and which can therefore be called the death of a living faith. For the purpose and goal of earthly life is the conscious striving for the eternal deity, the desire for union, but this presupposes a living faith.... a faith that is a matter of the heart but can never be gained intellectually. God can only be felt, and as soon as the heart affirms Him, faith is also alive, for now the human being also establishes the right relationship with God according to this feeling, and a conscious striving for perfection is the result of this right attitude towards God. However, anyone who tries to fathom God intellectually is outside of faith, even if he tries to present himself as a believer through words. Living faith stimulates activity in the transformation of the soul, whereas formal faith lacks such and therefore cannot be called living, for everything that lives must be active or stimulate perpetual activity....

Levend geloof

Het is het levende geloof waaraan het de mens ontbreekt, maar dat het belangrijkste is. Want zonder het levende geloof brengt de mens de verbinding met God niet tot stand. Om te streven bij God te komen en het verlangen te hebben naar de aaneensluiting met Hem, moet Hij eerst in het hart worden aanvaard. Hij moet als aanwezig worden gevoeld, dus moet de mens van Hem geloven dat Hij bestaat en in nauwste samenhang staat met Zijn schepselen. Pas dit levende geloof heeft het bewuste streven om bij Hem te zijn tot gevolg. En dus is het geloof onvoorwaardelijk nodig. En het kan nooit meer worden vervangen, want zonder het geloof is het gebed tot God om kracht en genade ongegrond. Wie God niet onderkent, roept Hem niet aan. Maar het aanroepen van God om kracht is niet te omzeilen, omdat de mens alleen te weinig kracht heeft om zich positief te ontwikkelen, wat echter het doel is van het leven op aarde. Levend geloven wil zeggen, met volle overtuiging kunnen opkomen voor iets wat niet bewezen kan worden en dan ook naar deze overtuiging te leven, dat wil zeggen: ze om te zetten in daden. Maar meestal hebben de mensen slechts een dood geloof, dus ze beamen alleen met de mond en stemmen met alles in wat van hen gevraagd wordt te geloven, maar zodra ze in overeenstemming met het geloof moeten leven, brengen ze daar de kracht niet voor op, omdat ze niet in staat zijn te bidden, dus hulp te vragen. En denken ze daar nu ernstig over na, dan wordt het hun duidelijk dat hun innerlijk, hun hart, er zich helemaal niet bevestigend tegenover instelt, dat ze dus helemaal geen levend geloof hebben. Maar zonder dit geloof faalt de mens in het leven, want nu mist hij elke basis. Hij kan ook niet de zin en de bedoeling van de schepping begrijpen, want alles wat met God verband houdt, is niet te bewijzen. Integendeel, het moet worden geloofd, dat wil zeggen met het hart aanvaard, en het ontbreekt de mensheid aan dit levende geloof.

Ze neemt wel het woord “Godheid” in de mond en belijdt haar zogenaamd, maar ze beaamt eigenlijk alleen het aanwezig zijn van een Schepper, daar de schepping zoiets vereist. Maar de samenhang van alle dingen onderkent ze niet en daarom ook niet de verhouding van de mens tot de Schepper. Maar de juiste verhouding van de mens tot de Schepper kan pas tot stand worden gebracht, wanneer de mens overtuigd is van een Wezen dat zich in liefde naar hem over buigt. Want nu probeert hij deze liefde voor zich te winnen door gebed en overgave aan zijn Schepper. Maar het gebed stelt het geloof aan een Macht voorop, die alles kan wat ze wil en alles wil wat goed is.

Dus moet het Wezen almachtig en liefdevol zijn.

Het geloof in een zo volmaakt Wezen kan pas levend worden genoemd. Want dit geloof zet pas aan tot werkzaam zijn. De mens streeft eveneens naar volmaaktheid, omdat hij het verlangen heeft dichter bij de eeuwige Godheid te komen, die hij onderkent, maar dit vraagt om een actief worden van de wil. Maar waar het levende geloof ontbreekt, daar blijft ook de wil passief, of hij heeft zich een verkeerd doel gesteld. Hij streeft naar de wereld, en de mens brengt geen verbinding tot stand met het Wezen dat hem heeft geschapen. Het ontbrekende geloof is bijgevolg de aanleiding voor de meest verschillende geloofsrichtingen, die hierop neerkomen, de onafhankelijkheid van de mens van de Macht die hem geschapen heeft aan te leren, en die daarom de dood van een levend geloof genoemd kunnen worden. Want de zin en het doel van het aardse leven is het bewust aansturen op de eeuwige Godheid. Het verlangen naar aaneensluiting, wat echter een levend geloof vooropstelt, een geloof dat een aangelegenheid is van het hart, maar dat nooit door middel van het verstand kan worden verkregen. God kan alleen gevoeld worden en zodra het hart positief tegenover Hem staat, is ook het geloof levend. Want nu brengt de mens in overeenstemming met dit gevoel ook de juiste verhouding tot God tot stand. En een bewust streven naar volmaaktheid is het gevolg van deze juiste instelling tegenover God. Wie echter door middel van zijn verstand tracht God te doorgronden, staat buiten het geloof, ofschoon hij tracht zichzelf door woorden als gelovig voor te stellen. Het levende geloof spoort aan te werken aan de omvorming van de ziel, terwijl het vormgeloof zoiets doet ontbreken en juist daarom niet levend kan worden genoemd, want alles wat leeft moet werkzaam zijn of tot voortdurende werkzaamheid worden aangespoord.
