Imperishable treasures.... barren life on earth....

Only that has lasting value which brings salvation to the soul, which earns it entry into the kingdom of light after death on earth. And only such good is to be striven for on earth. Thus only the deeds of the spirit are truly beneficial, i.e. what the spirit in the human being demands of the soul. But at the same time the body makes demands on the soul, namely what is to its advantage, i.e. what makes earthly life pleasant and attractive. And it is up to the soul to decide which demands it wants to fulfil. Consequently, the soul alone is also responsible for the wealth it gathers on earth. If it treats the body sparingly, the spiritual wealth will grow and this will bring it spiritual freedom. But if it listens to the body, then it itself will have to starve as soon as it detaches itself from the body. The spirit within it constantly urges it to gather spiritual wealth, and it hears its admonition and guidance all the more clearly and distinctly the less it respects the desires of the body. However, it must then also endeavour to follow the spirit within itself, otherwise its admonitions become weaker and are only barely perceptible to the soul. Then the human being is in danger of neglecting his actual task if his soul, i.e. all thinking, feeling and willing, only strives for earthly pleasures, i.e. only seeks what the body desires. For all these things are transient and have not the slightest eternal value. But life on earth is given to man so that he should create such values for himself that last, because the real life only begins when the body falls away from the soul. The human being who has suffered on earth for the sake of his soul, who only complied with the demands of the spirit within himself, will truly find a rich treasure in the beyond which will compensate him a thousand fold for what he gave away on earth, for only then will the soul live the right life, only then can it enjoy the fruits of its earthly way of life, whereas an earthly-minded soul will have to live in want and will enter the beyond inconceivably poor and naked and think of its unused earthly life in remorse. For this was given to it so that it should gather imperishable treasures for eternity....

Unvergängliche Schätze.... Karges Erdenleben....

Nur das hat bleibenden Wert, was der Seele zum Heil gereicht, was ihr das Eingehen in das Lichtreich nach dem Ableben auf Erden einträgt. Und solches Gut allein soll angestrebt werden auf Erden. Also sind wahrhaft nutzbringend nur die Taten des Geistes, d.h., was der Geist im Menschen von der Seele fordert. Es stellt der Körper aber gleichzeitig Forderungen an die Seele, und zwar, was ihm zum Vorteil ist, d.h., was das irdische Leben angenehm und reizvoll gestaltet. Und es liegt nun der Seele ob, welchen Anforderungen sie nachkommen will. Folglich ist die Seele allein auch verantwortlich für den Reichtum, den sie auf Erden sammelt. Bedenkt sie den Körper karg, so wird der geistige Reichtum wachsen, und es wird ihr dies geistige Freiheit eintragen. Schenkt sie aber dem Körper Gehör, dann wird sie selbst darben müssen, sowie sie sich von dem Körper löst. Der Geist in ihr treibt sie unausgesetzt an, sich geistiges Gut zu sammeln, und sie vernimmt dessen Mahnung und Anleitung desto klarer und deutlicher, je weniger sie der Begehren des Körpers achtet. Sie muß dann aber auch bemüht sein, dem Geist in sich Folge zu leisten, ansonsten dessen Mahnungen schwächer werden und nur wenig der Seele spürbar sind. Dann ist der Mensch in Gefahr, seine eigentliche Aufgabe zu vernachlässigen, wenn seine Seele, d.h. alles Denken, Fühlen und Wollen, nur irdische Genüsse anstrebt, also nur danach trachtet, was der Körper verlangt. Denn alle diese Dinge sind vergänglich und haben nicht den geringsten Ewigkeitswert. Das Erdenleben aber ist dem Menschen gegeben, daß er sich solche Werte schaffen soll, die Bestand haben, weil das eigentliche Leben erst beginnt mit dem Abfall des Leibes von der Seele. Der Mensch, der auf Erden gedarbt hat um seiner Seele willen, der nur den Anforderungen des Geistes in sich nachkam, wird wahrlich im Jenseits einen reichen Schatz vorfinden, der ihm tausendfach ersetzt, was er auf Erden hingab, denn nun erst führt die Seele das rechte Leben, nun erst kann sie die Früchte ihres Erdenlebenswandels genießen, während eine irdisch gesinnte Seele nun darben muß und unvorstellbar arm und bloß in das Jenseits eingeht und in Reue ihres ungenützten Erdenlebens gedenkt. Denn dieses wurde ihr gegeben, auf daß sie sich unvergängliche Schätze sammeln sollte für die Ewigkeit....
