Rejecting the word of God is turning to the enemy of God....

The antithesis of God is sought as soon as man closes himself off to the divine word, for then he is resisting the influx of power from God, and that in itself is a turning towards God's adversary. Anyone who rejects the word of God also rejects God Himself, for God is the word.... And if he uses God in his mouth, this is only a figure of speech which he uses without recognizing God. But if God Himself approaches him, he sets his will against it and cannot be forcibly brought to God. And yet he believes he is using his will correctly and being faithful to God when he has grown up in a false idea, and he only remains faithful to this false idea.... He clings tenaciously to his old beliefs and cannot be convinced that he is holding an erroneous doctrine because this conviction cannot be forcibly taught to him but must be gained by him of his own accord. The heart must be active, he must feel the urge within himself to fathom the truth and enter into intimate contact with God Himself, then he will recognize if and when he is walking in the truth. The word of God will enlighten him about everything, but clarity can never come to him if he rejects the word of God. God's adversary, however, will strengthen his will to reject it, he will mentally afflict him and he will also be successful, for people's will is far more inclined to accept his teachings, which are permeated by error, than the divine truth. And thus the human being is in union with God's opposite pole and his thoughts and actions correspond to it. He does not become active himself but persists in what he was previously offered, and that is his mistake, that he has appropriated something without seriously examining it and now shies away from a serious examination because he wants nothing other than what he possesses.... he is afraid of recognizing the flimsiness of what he possesses and therefore defends it all the more zealously. God, however, repeatedly tries to guide these people onto the path of truth, and He always comes close to them as soon as they lift their thoughts to Him. For they can only arrive at the truth through serious reflection, and time and again He will cause people to reflect in order to snatch them from the adversary's power and to be able to offer them His word and, with this word, also the power....

Ablehnen des Wortes Gottes ist Zuwenden zum Gegner Gottes....

Der Gegenpol Gottes wird angestrebt, sowie sich der Mensch dem göttlichen Wort verschließt, denn dann wehrt er sich gegen den Zustrom der Kraft aus Gott, und das schon ist ein Zuwenden zum Gegner Gottes. Wer das Wort Gottes ablehnt, der lehnt auch Gott Selbst ab, denn Gott ist das Wort.... Und so er Gott im Munde führt, ist dies nur eine Redensart, die er gebraucht, ohne Gott zu erkennen. So Gott Selbst aber Sich ihm nähert, setzt er seinen Willen dagegen und kann nicht zwangsweise Gott zugeführt werden. Und dennoch glaubt er, seinen Willen recht zu nützen und Gott treu zu sein, wenn er in einer falschen Vorstellung aufgewachsen ist, und er bleibt nur dieser falschen Vorstellung treu.... Er hält mit einer Zähigkeit an seinen alten Anschauungen fest und kann nicht davon überzeugt werden, daß er eine irrige Lehre vertritt, weil ihm diese Überzeugung nicht zwangsweise beigebracht werden kann, sondern sie aus eigenem Antrieb von ihm gewonnen werden muß. Es muß das Herz tätig sein, er muß den Trieb in sich spüren, die Wahrheit zu ergründen, und mit Gott Selbst in innige Fühlung treten, dann wird er erkennen, ob und wann er in der Wahrheit wandelt. Das Wort Gottes wird ihn über alles aufklären, doch nimmermehr kann ihm Klarheit werden, wenn er das Wort Gottes abweist. Der Gegner Gottes aber bestärkt seinen Willen zur Ablehnung, er wird ihm gedanklich zusetzen, und er wird auch Erfolg haben, denn der Wille der Menschen ist viel eher geneigt, dessen Irrtum-durchsetzte Lehren anzunehmen als die göttliche Wahrheit. Und so ist der Mensch im Verband mit dem Gegenpol Gottes stehend, und sein Denken und Handeln entspricht diesem. Er wird nicht selbst tätig, sondern verharrt in dem, was ihm zuvor geboten wurde, und das ist sein Fehler, daß er sich etwas angeeignet hat, ohne ernstlich zu prüfen, und nun vor einer ernstlichen Prüfung zurückschreckt, weil er nichts anderes will, als was er besitzt.... er fürchtet sich davor, die Fadenscheinigkeit dessen zu erkennen, was er besitzt, und vertritt es daher desto eifriger. Gott aber versucht immer wieder, auch diese Menschen auf den Weg der Wahrheit zu leiten, und Er kommt ihnen immer wieder nahe, sowie sie ihre Gedanken zu Ihm erheben. Denn nur durch ernsthaftes Nachdenken können sie zur Wahrheit kommen, und Er wird immer wieder die Menschen zum Nachdenken veranlassen, um sie der Macht des Gegners zu entreißen und ihnen Sein Wort darbieten zu können und mit diesem Wort auch die Kraft....
