Belief in a continuation of life.... Consequences of earthly life in the beyond....

Caring for the salvation of the soul is not being taken seriously and yet it should be the most important thing, for this is the human being's only purpose in life. Nevertheless, the human being cannot be forced to do so, it can only ever be presented to him again that he will have to accept the consequences of his activity on earth after his earthly life, that he, if he neglects his soul, will have to endure a far more meagre and agonising existence than the most impoverished and excruciatingly painful earthly life can be. The human being is only living for the present, and he believes that this present will be over with his physical death. And therefore he won't make any provisions for the future. And yet he is only on earth for the sake of this future....

The belief in a continuation of life after death cannot be forced onto him, consequently he cannot be offered any obvious evidence from the beyond so as not to restrict his freedom of faith. But if the human being would just have the good will to know the truth, the spiritual world would make itself perceptible to him, then he would heed the smallest sign, and the belief in a beyond would come alive in him. But the human being is generally not at all interested in knowing anything about an 'afterwards'. He lives on earth and is satisfied with this certainty, always providing that he won't know or feel anything anymore after his physical death. And he doesn't consider that only the external form has become lifeless, because the spirit.... the true life.... has escaped from it. He fails to consider that it is unable to die, that it is immortal, that it only leaves its external cover behind on earth in order to enter its true home. And he fails to consider that he is shaping the spiritual kingdom for himself on earth, or.... that it will correspond to his earthly life.... that it can be a dark, unfriendly and depressing or a radiantly bright and joyful environment for the human being's soul. He doesn't consider that he will remember his unused earthly life with severe unbearable regret.... since he will never be able to say that the knowledge of it wasn't communicated to him.

Every person will receive instructions in this regard, yet not everyone will accept these instructions because he is unwilling, and the will cannot be compelled. Then they will only tend to their body, they will only pay attention to its well-being, whereas the soul remains ignored. Humanity's adversity is immense, and consequently the physical adversity has to be extensive too, so that the human being will look within himself and become aware of the irrelevance of all earthly things and also of his body, so that he then will send his questions into infinity after all and as a result be guided into thinking differently....

Geloof in een voortbestaan - Uitwerking van het leven op aarde in het hiernamaals

De zorg voor het heil van de ziel wordt niet serieus genomen en moet toch aan alles worden vooropgesteld, want dit is het enige levensdoel van de mens. En toch kan de mens er niet toe gedwongen worden, het kan hem alleen steeds weer worden voorgehouden, dat hij de gevolgen van zijn werkzaam zijn op aarde op zich moet nemen na zijn aardse leven, dat hij, als hij niet denkt aan zijn ziel op aarde, een des te veelvoudig kariger en smartelijker bestaan moet doormaken dan het meest armzalige en smartelijke leven op aarde zijn kan. De mens leeft alleen in het heden en hij gelooft dat dit heden ten einde is met de dood van het lichaam. En dus zorgt hij ook niet voor de toekomst. En hij is toch alleen vanwege deze toekomst op aarde.

Het geloof aan een voortleven na de dood kan hem niet onder dwang worden overgebracht en daarom kunnen hem ook geen duidelijke bewijzen uit het hiernamaals worden geboden, om hem niet in zijn geloofsvrijheid te beknotten. Maar zou de mens alleen de goede wil hebben in de waarheid te staan, dan zou de geestelijke wereld zijn aandacht trekken, want hij zou dan aan de kleinste tekens aandacht schenken en het geloof aan een hiernamaals zou levend worden in hem.

Maar meestal hecht de mens er helemaal geen waarde aan iets te weten over het "hierna". Hij leeft op de aarde en is met deze zekerheid tevreden, steeds in de veronderstelling dat hij na zijn lichamelijke dood niets meer weet en gewaarwordt. En hij denkt er niet aan dat alleen de buitenkant levenloos is geworden, omdat de geest, het ware leven, eruit is ontsnapt. Hij denkt er niet aan dat deze niet sterven kan, dat hij onvergankelijk is, alleen zijn buitenkant op de aarde achterlaat om het eigenlijke vaderland binnen te gaan. En hij denkt er niet aan dat hij zich zelf op aarde het geestelijke rijk vormgeeft, dat het beantwoordt aan zijn leven op aarde, dat het een duistere, onvriendelijke en terneerdrukkende of stralende, gelukkig makende omgeving voor de ziel van de mens kan zijn. Hij bedenkt niet dat hij in smartelijk berouw aan zijn onbenut aards leven denkt - daar hij nooit zeggen kan dat hem het weten daarover niet zou zijn overgebracht.

Ieder mens zal onderrichtingen daarover ten deel vallen, maar niet ieder mens neemt deze onderrichtingen aan, omdat hij niet bereidwillig is, maar de wil niet kan worden gedwongen. Dan denken ze alleen aan hun lichaam, hun aandacht is alleen op het welzijn daarvan gericht, terwijl de ziel buiten beschouwing blijft. De nood van de mensheid is groot en daarom moet ook de lichamelijke nood zo groot zijn, opdat de mens in zichzelf keert en zich de vergankelijkheid van al het aardse en ook de vergankelijkheid van het lichaam voor ogen houdt, opdat hij dan toch vragend tegenover de oneindigheid staat en hij nu in een ander denken kan worden geleid.
