Violation of divine commandments.... sin.... bondage....

To violate the divine commandments is sin, for it increases the distance from God insofar as that He cannot be where there is unkindness. Everything that goes against the commandment of love will also result in a cooling of divine love and thus be detrimental to the spiritual being itself because it will thereby fall into an increasingly unfriendly state. As a human being this state now has the effect that the power of God's adversary over him becomes ever greater, that he is forced by him under his will, that his thoughts and actions will always be as he wants them to be, thus always opposed to God. And this is unimaginably agonizing for the soul, for it is still so far away from its final liberation that it takes the bound state with it into the spiritual kingdom. For only love can redeem the being, consequently unkindness has to bind. And whoever is therefore unloving towards his neighbour violates the commandment of love and will therefore never be free from the bondage which the former rebellion against God has brought him. That is why God has given people the commandment of love, which they only need to obey in order to thereby come closer to God and be able to enter the spiritual kingdom as a blessed being. Man can sin against the commandment of love by acting contrary to the divine doctrine of love or by omitting actions that are supposed to demonstrate love for his neighbour. Man should not only protect his neighbour from harm, he should benefit him, i.e. do everything to him that seems desirable to him, only then is the connection with God established, because God Himself descends to a loving person and honours him with His closeness.... And this means spiritual freedom for him. The human being frees himself from the power of the adversary, for the power of God, which passes into the human being through His closeness, is stronger than the power of God's adversary.... And the victor will therefore always be the person who connects with eternal love itself through works of love. He will break the shackles and become free from every compulsion that God's adversary wants to exert on him. The commandments of love must not be ignored, for they are the means of release from the endless time of bondage. And at the same time they are the bridge to the connection with God.... For he who is active in selfless love thereby comes ever closer to God and overcomes every distance from Him.... He fulfils God's demand and will also be allowed to receive the reward from God, which consists of God uniting Himself with the one who serves Him in love, i.e. who likewise sees God's creatures in his fellow human beings to whom he wants to do good. Eternal bliss is only the result of unselfish loving activity, just as, conversely, damnation is also the result of unkindness, and everything that is directed against God or His commandments is unjust before God, i.e. sin....

하나님의 계명을 어기는 일. 죄. 묶임.

하느님의 계명을 어기는 일은 죄이다. 왜냐하면 그가 사랑이 없는 곳에 거할 수밖에 없을 정도로 하느님과의 간격이 멀어지게 하기 때문이다. 사랑의 계명을 어기는 모든 일은 또한 하나님의 사랑을 식히는 결과를 가져올 것이다. 다시 말해 영적인 존재 자신에게 해를 끼칠 것이다. 왜냐하면 존재가 사랑의 계명을 어기는 모든 일을 통해 항상 자유롭지 못한 상태에 빠지기 때문이다.

사람으로서 이런 상태가 이제 그에 대한 하나님의 대적자의 권세가 항상 더 커지도록 역사하고, 그가 하나님의 대적자의 의지 아래 강요를 받게 역사하고, 그의 생각과 행동이 항상 하나님의 대적자가 원하는 대로, 즉 항상 하나님을 대적하도록 역사한다.

이런 일은 혼에게 상상할 수 없을 정도로 고통스러운 일이다. 왜냐하면 혼이 자신의 최종적인 해방으로부터 아주 멀리 떨어져 있기 때문이고, 혼이 묶인 상태를 영의 나라로 가지고 가기 때문이다. 왜냐면 단지 사랑만이 존재를 구원할 수 있기 때문에 결과적으로 사랑 없음이 존재를 묶어야만 하기 때문이다.

자신의 이웃사람에 대한 사랑이 없는 사람은 사랑의 계명을 위반하는 것이다. 그러므로 그는 이전에 하나님께 대항한 반역이 그에게 준 속박에서 벗어나지 못하게 될 것이다. 그러므로 하나님은 사람들에게 사랑의 계명을 주었고, 사람들이 하나님께 더 가까이 나아가고, 복된 존재로서 영의 나라로 들어가기 위해, 단지 이 계명에 순종하기만 하면 된다.

사람이 하느님의 사랑의 교리를 어기는 일을 하거나, 이웃을 향한 사랑을 증명해야 하는 일을 하지 않음으로써, 사랑의 계명을 어기는 죄를 지을 수 있다. 사람은 이웃을 해로부터 보호해야 할 뿐만 아니라 이웃에게 유익을 줘야 한다. 다시 말해 자신이 원하게 보일만한 모든 일을 이웃에게 해야 한다. 그러면 비로소 하나님과의 연결이 이뤄진다. 왜냐면 하나님 자신이 사랑을 행하는 사람에게 내려와, 그에게 자신의 가까이에 거하기에 합당함을 인정하기 때문이다.

이런 일은 그에게 영적인 자유를 의미한다. 인간은 대적자의 권세로부터 자유롭게 된다. 왜냐하면 하나님 가까이에 거하는 일을 통해 인간에게 전달되는 하나님의 힘이 하나님의 대적자의 힘보다 더 강하기 때문이다. 그러므로 승자는 항상 사랑의 역사를 통해 영원한 사랑 자체와 연결되는 사람이 될 것이다. 그는 속박을 깨고, 하나님의 대적자가 그에게 행하기를 원하는 모든 강제로부터 자유롭게 될 것이다.

사랑의 계명에 주의를 기울이지 않아서는 안 된다. 왜냐면 사랑의 계명은 끝없이 긴 기간 동안의 묶임으로부터 자유롭게 하는 수단이기 때문이다. 사랑의 계명은 동시에 하나님과 연결되는 다리를 의미한다. 이타적인 사랑을 행하는 사람은 그런 일을 통해 하나님께 더 가까워지고, 하나님과의 모든 간격을 극복하기 때문이다. 그는 하나님의 요구를 성취하고, 또한 하나님의 상급을 받을 수 있게 될 것이다. 하나님의 상급은 하나님을 사랑으로 섬기는 사람과, 다시 말해 자신의 이웃 사람들을 마찬가지로 하나님의 피조물로 여기고, 이웃사람에게 선한 일을 행하기 원하는 사람과, 하나님 자신이 연합하는 일이다.

영원한 축복은 단지 자신의 유익을 구하지 않는 사랑을 행한 결과이다. 이와 반대로 저주도 마찬가지로 사랑 없음의 결과이고, 하나님께 대항하는 또는 하나님의 계명을 어기는 모든 일은 하나님 앞에서 불의이고, 죄이다.
