Intellectual arrogance reason for rejection....

The resistance that people often put up to the divine word is the result of a certain spiritual arrogance. Only the person who believes himself to be knowledgeable rebels against accepting a different knowledge. He does not want to separate himself from his previous view, but this does not correspond to the word of God imparted to man by knowing powers. The more distant a person is from God, the more he rejects it and the more this word deviates from his view, and he is not easily prepared to give it up and receive the divine word. So for the time being there is a lack of will.... On serious examination the human being would probably recognize that his knowledge is still incomplete and therefore could not withstand the spiritual transmissions. However, where the will to seriously scrutinize is lacking, clear evidence is also inappropriate and pointless. What is completely understandable and clear appears incomprehensible to him, for the strength of the divine word only communicates itself to the person who also has the will to accept God's gift. This power makes it possible for every word to touch the human heart, so that the human being feels God Himself in every writing, in the word that God Himself gives to people who are devoted to Him. Resistance, however, renders the human heart incapable of judgement. Although the human being uses his intellect to help him, this alone will not come to the right conclusion. Thus, if he himself is incapable of accepting what he has heard as truth, he should ask God Himself for enlightenment and that which previously seemed unacceptable to him will be revealed to him as clear as day, for God gives knowledge to everyone who asks Him for it. Most of the time, however, people presume to be able to judge for themselves, and this is a certain spiritual arrogance, for man cannot actually do anything, he cannot do anything without having asked for God's help. He sets human knowledge and human experience against the pure word of God, which are more or less erroneous depending on his attitude towards God. He perceives every correction as a personal attack and confronts it in a fighting mood, he now eagerly defends his opinion but pays almost no attention to the opposing opinion.... And consequently, the power of the divine word cannot take effect and enlighten his spirit.... So he remains in the dark, even though the light is brought to him.... For the knowledge of pure truth is light.... But he who closes his eyes when light is offered to him cannot be given enlightenment, he remains in rejection and can only be convinced of the truth of what is offered to him when he himself has the will and the desire for the truth....

영적 오만함이 거부하는 이유이다.

사람들이 자주 하나님의 말씀을 대적하는 저항은 어떤 영적 오만함의 결과이다. 단지 자신이 알고 있다고 믿는 사람이 다른 지식을 받아들이는 일을 거부한다. 그는 자신의 기존의 견해를 버리기를 원하지 않는다. 그러나 기존의 견해가 알고 있는 세력을 통해 사람들에게 전달되는 하나님의 말씀과 일치하지 않는다.

사람이 하나님으로부터 멀리에 있을수록, 그런 하나님의 말씀을 거부하는 자세를 취하고, 그런 하나님의 말씀이 그의 견해와 더 큰 차이가 나게 된다. 그는 자신의 견해를 쉽게 포기하고, 하나님의 말씀을 받아드릴려고 하지 않는다. 그러므로 그에게 우선 의지가 부족하다. 그가 진지하게 조사를 한다면, 그는 자신의 지식이 아직 불완전하고, 따라서 영으로 계시된 것에 반항할 수 없음을 깨닫게 되었을 것이다.

그러나 진지하게 조사할 의지가 없는 경우, 명확한 증거조차도 효과를 발휘하지 못하고, 무의미하게 된다. 완전히 이해할 수 있고, 선명한 것이 그에게는 이해할 수 없는 것처럼 보인다. 왜냐하면 하나님의 말씀의 힘이 단지 하나님의 선물을 받아들이려는 의지를 가진 사람들에게만 전달이 되기 때문이다. 이런 힘이 모든 말씀이 인간의 심장에 감동을 주는 일을 일으킨다. 그러므로 하나님 자신이 자기에게 헌신하는 사람들에게 주는 모든 계시를 기록한 말씀 안에서, 사람은 하나님 자신을 느끼게 된다.

그러나 저항은 인간의 심장을 판단할 수 없게 만든다. 사람이 자신의 이성의 도움을 청하지만, 유일하게 이성만으로는 올바른 결과를 얻지 못하게 될 것이다. 그러므로 사람이 자신이 들은 것을 진리로 받아드릴 수 없다면, 그는 하나님 자신에게 깨달음을 구해야 한다. 그러면 지금까지 그에게 받아드릴 수 없는 것처럼 보였던 것이 그에게 밝은 태양 빛처럼 드러날 것이다. 왜냐하면 하나님이 깨달음을 구하는 모든 사람에게 깨달음을 주기 때문이다.

그러나 대부분의 사람들은 자신이 판단을 할 수 있다고 믿는다. 이는 어떤 면에서 영적인 오만함이다. 왜냐하면 인간은 실제로 아무것도 할 수 없기 때문이다. 인간은 하나님의 도움을 구하지 않고는, 아무것도 할 수 없기 때문이다. 그는 순수한 하나님의 말씀을 인간의 지식과 인간의 경험과 대조한다. 이는 하나님을 향한 그의 자세에 따라, 크거나, 적게 잘못된 일이다. 그는 모든 수정을 해주려는 시도를 개인적인 공격으로 느끼고, 싸우는 분위기로 수정해주려는 사람에게 맞선다. 그는 이제는 자신의 의견을 열심히 주장하지만, 반대 의견에는 거의 관심을 기울이지 않는다.

결과적으로 또한 하나님의 말씀의 힘이 역사하여, 그의 영을 깨우치게 할 수 없다. 그러므로 빛이 그에게 가까이 왔음에도 불구하고, 그는 어두움 속에 머문다. 왜냐면 순수한 진리를 아는 지식이 빛이기 때문이다. 그러나 빛이 주어졌을 때, 눈을 감는 사람에게 어떤 설명도 해줄 수 없다. 그는 계속 거부하는 가운데 머문다. 만약에 그가 진리를 향한 의지와 열망을 가지고 있다면, 그에게 제공되는 것이 진리임을 그가 확신하게 할 수 있다._>아멘
