Overcoming matter.... increasing the spiritual....

The path through matter is an endlessly long captivity for the beingness, and therefore liberation must mean redemption for the being. The more oppressive the constraint was, the more blissful is the liberation from the form, and therefore it is of greatest value when man can completely separate himself from material things, for the sooner the soul can get rid of its burden and soar upwards. To become free from form means to become free from desire, that earthly things no longer seem desirable to him and he has therefore overcome all matter. And then it is easy for the spirit to unfold. Matter is the obstacle to spiritual endeavour. It is there, actually for man, but is nevertheless to be overcome, i.e., the inclination for it must be torn out of the heart, because if man desires something earthly, then he again so to speak establishes the connection with this earthly through his wrong love and therefore forms himself regressively. His desire is for an outer form which he has already overcome, and the immature spiritual hidden in it now seeks to increase by drawing the already advanced spiritual into its sphere and this again means increased desire for matter.... (1.3.1941) The stay in the form should be a compulsion for the spiritual, so that it seeks to become free of it. But once it is free of this outer form and has also gone through further forms in the further phases of development, it is no longer allowed to carry a desire for those outer forms which it has already overcome. Rather, it must learn to despise them, i.e. they must no longer mean so much to the human being that he desires them. But where the desire for matter is still very strong, one can speak of an overpowering of the immature spiritual, to which the human being falls victim. The human being's will is weak and allows himself to be dominated by the spiritual in matter, thus he again falls prey to the activity of satanic forces which hold matter up to the human being as a deception in order to prevent the endeavour towards God, the conscious prayer, and this force also succeeds.... Then matter absorbs the already more mature spiritual substance again, so that the immature spiritual substance increases within itself, which detracts from the spiritual substance which is in the process of higher development, thus signifying spiritual decline for the human being. Such a person will constantly be under the spell of what he desires. It will become increasingly more difficult for him to free himself from it and he will gradually become a slave to that which he should dominate, i.e. overcome; then the power which should be defeated will begin to rule and the result will be that the human being will rarely be able to free himself from this power, that he will still pay homage to it in the beyond by striving for earthly possessions and thinking little or not at all of his soul. In the most favourable case he can therefore remain on the same level. However, the danger is very obvious that the desire for earthly goods is so great that God corresponds to this desire and the spiritual is once again incorporated into this form which fulfils its sensing and thinking.... that the being has to travel the same path and once again feels the external form as an oppressive burden until it has finally freed itself from the desire for it.... until it has finally overcome matter and desires only spiritual good....

Superando a Matéria.... Aumentar a.... espiritual

A passagem pela matéria é uma prisão infinitamente longa para a disposição e, portanto, o tornar-se livre deve significar a redenção para o ser. Quanto mais opressiva foi a restrição, mais gratificante é a libertação da forma e, portanto, de maior valor quando o ser humano pode se separar completamente das coisas materiais, pois quanto mais cedo a alma puder se livrar de sua carga e oscilar para cima. Libertar-se da forma significa libertar-se do desejo, que as coisas terrenas já não lhe parecem desejáveis e que, portanto, ele superou toda a matéria. E depois é fácil para o espírito desabrochar. A matéria é o obstáculo do esforço espiritual. Está lá, na verdade para o ser humano, mas deve ser superada, ou seja, a inclinação para ela deve ser arrancada do coração, pois se o ser humano deseja algo terreno, então ele, por assim dizer, restabelece a ligação com este terreno através do seu amor errado e assim se forma retrogressivamente. Seu desejo é de uma forma externa que ele já superou, e o espiritual imaturo escondido nele procura agora aumentar a si mesmo, atraindo o espiritual já avançado para sua esfera e isso novamente significa um maior desejo por matéria.... (1.3.1941) A permanência na forma deve ser uma compulsão para o espiritual, para que ele procure se libertar dela. Mas uma vez livre dessa forma exterior e que tenha passado também por outras formas nas fases seguintes de desenvolvimento, não deve mais suportar um desejo por essas formas exteriores que já superou. Pelo contrário, deve aprender a desprezá-los, ou seja, não devem mais significar tanto para o ser humano que ele os deseje. Mas onde o desejo pela matéria ainda é muito forte, pode-se falar de uma predominância do espiritual imaturo, ao qual o ser humano cai vítima. A vontade do ser humano é fraca e se deixa dominar pelo espiritual na matéria, assim ele cai novamente presa ao trabalho de forças satânicas que prendem a matéria ao ser humano como um trabalho enganoso a fim de evitar a luta para Deus, a oração consciente, e essa força também é bem sucedida.... Então a matéria absorve novamente a substância espiritual já mais madura, de modo que a substância espiritual imatura aumenta dentro de si, o que diminui a substância espiritual em desenvolvimento mais elevado, significando assim o declínio espiritual para o ser humano. Uma pessoa assim estará constantemente sob o feitiço do que deseja. Ele terá cada vez mais dificuldade em desligar-se dela e, aos poucos, tornar-se escravo daquilo que deve controlar, ou seja, vencer; então o poder que deve estar sujeito começará a governar, e a conseqüência será que o ser humano raramente poderá desligar-se desse poder, que ainda lhe prestará homenagem no além, lutando por bens terrenos e pensando pouco ou nada da sua alma. No melhor dos casos, portanto, ele pode permanecer no mesmo nível. Mas o perigo é muito próximo de que o desejo do bem terreno seja tão grande que Deus corresponda a este desejo e o espiritual seja mais uma vez incorporado nesta forma, que cumpre o seu pensamento e a sua.... sensação de que o ser tem de percorrer o mesmo caminho e sente novamente a forma externa como uma carga opressiva até se libertar finalmente do desejo de a.... até que finalmente tenha superado a matéria e deseje apenas o bem espiritual....
