Overcoming matter.... increasing the spiritual....

The path through matter is an endlessly long captivity for the beingness, and therefore liberation must mean redemption for the being. The more oppressive the constraint was, the more blissful is the liberation from the form, and therefore it is of greatest value when man can completely separate himself from material things, for the sooner the soul can get rid of its burden and soar upwards. To become free from form means to become free from desire, that earthly things no longer seem desirable to him and he has therefore overcome all matter. And then it is easy for the spirit to unfold. Matter is the obstacle to spiritual endeavour. It is there, actually for man, but is nevertheless to be overcome, i.e., the inclination for it must be torn out of the heart, because if man desires something earthly, then he again so to speak establishes the connection with this earthly through his wrong love and therefore forms himself regressively. His desire is for an outer form which he has already overcome, and the immature spiritual hidden in it now seeks to increase by drawing the already advanced spiritual into its sphere and this again means increased desire for matter.... (1.3.1941) The stay in the form should be a compulsion for the spiritual, so that it seeks to become free of it. But once it is free of this outer form and has also gone through further forms in the further phases of development, it is no longer allowed to carry a desire for those outer forms which it has already overcome. Rather, it must learn to despise them, i.e. they must no longer mean so much to the human being that he desires them. But where the desire for matter is still very strong, one can speak of an overpowering of the immature spiritual, to which the human being falls victim. The human being's will is weak and allows himself to be dominated by the spiritual in matter, thus he again falls prey to the activity of satanic forces which hold matter up to the human being as a deception in order to prevent the endeavour towards God, the conscious prayer, and this force also succeeds.... Then matter absorbs the already more mature spiritual substance again, so that the immature spiritual substance increases within itself, which detracts from the spiritual substance which is in the process of higher development, thus signifying spiritual decline for the human being. Such a person will constantly be under the spell of what he desires. It will become increasingly more difficult for him to free himself from it and he will gradually become a slave to that which he should dominate, i.e. overcome; then the power which should be defeated will begin to rule and the result will be that the human being will rarely be able to free himself from this power, that he will still pay homage to it in the beyond by striving for earthly possessions and thinking little or not at all of his soul. In the most favourable case he can therefore remain on the same level. However, the danger is very obvious that the desire for earthly goods is so great that God corresponds to this desire and the spiritual is once again incorporated into this form which fulfils its sensing and thinking.... that the being has to travel the same path and once again feels the external form as an oppressive burden until it has finally freed itself from the desire for it.... until it has finally overcome matter and desires only spiritual good....

Superando la materia.... Incrementando lo espiritual....

El paso a través de la materia es un cautiverio interminable para la esencia y, por tanto, la liberación debe significar una liberación para la esencia. Cuanto más opresiva era la restricción, tanto más feliz será la liberación de la forma y, por lo tanto, es de mayor valor si el hombre puede separarse completamente de las cosas materiales, porque más pronto el alma puede deshacerse de su carga y elevarse hacia las alturas.... Liberarse de la forma significa liberarse del deseo, de modo que las cosas terrenales ya no le parecen deseables y, por tanto, ha superado toda materia. Y entonces hay una facilidad para el espíritu que se desarrolle.

La materia es el obstáculo al esfuerzo espiritual. En realidad está ahí para el hombre, pero aun así debe ser superado, es decir, el deseo por ello debe ser arrancado del corazón, porque si el hombre desea algo terrenal, entonces, por así decirlo, se reconecta con esa cosa terrenal a través de su amor equivocado y por lo tanto se desarrolla retrogrado. Su deseo está dirigido a una forma exterior que ya ha superado, y lo espiritual inmaduro escondido en ella ahora busca multiplicarse atrayendo lo espiritual ya avanzado a su área y esto nuevamente significa y mayor deseo por la materia....

(01.03.1941) La permanencia en la forma debe ser una compulsión para lo espiritual para que intente liberarse de ella. Pero una vez que está libre de esta forma externa y ha pasado por otras formas en las fases posteriores de desarrollo, ya no puede tener ningún deseo por aquellas formas externas que ya ha superado. Más bien, debe aprende a despreciar tales cosas, es decir, que ya no deben significar tanto para los hombres como para desearlas.

Pero donde el deseo de la materia sigue siendo muy fuerte, se puede hablar de un predominio de lo espiritual inmaduro, del que el ser humano es víctima. La voluntad del hombre es débil y se deja dominar por lo espiritual en la materia, por lo que vuelve a caer en la obra de las fuerzas satánicas, que presenta la materia al hombre como una obra de deslumbramiento para dejar de esforzarse hacia Dios, la oración consciente, y esta fuerza también lo logra.... Entonces la materia vuelve a absorber en sí misma lo espiritual ya más maduro, de modo que lo espiritual inmaduro aumenta en sí mismo, lo que daña a lo espiritual que se encuentra en el desarrollo superior, lo que significa un retroceso espiritual para el ser humano.

Un hombre así estará siempre bajo el hechizo de lo que desea. Le resulta cada vez más difícil liberarse de ello y poco a poco se vuelve esclavo de aquello que debería dominar, es decir, superar; Entonces comienza a gobernar el poder que debería ser derrotado, y el resultado será que el hombre rara vez podrá liberarse de ese poder y que todavía le rendirá homenaje en el más allá esforzándose por los bienes terrenales y poco o nada piensa en su alma.

En el mejor de los casos, puede permanecer en el mismo nivel. Pero el peligro es muy evidente que el deseo de los bienes terrenales es tan grande que Dios que Dios corresponde a este deseo y lo espiritual se incorpora nuevamente a esta forma que cumple sus sentidos y pensamientos.... que el ser tiene que recorrer el mismo camino y vuelva a sentir la forma externa como una carga opresiva hasta que finalmente se haya liberado del deseo de ella.... hasta que finalmente haya superado la materia y sólo desea bienes espirituales....
