Overcoming matter.... increasing the spiritual....

The path through matter is an endlessly long captivity for the beingness, and therefore liberation must mean redemption for the being. The more oppressive the constraint was, the more blissful is the liberation from the form, and therefore it is of greatest value when man can completely separate himself from material things, for the sooner the soul can get rid of its burden and soar upwards. To become free from form means to become free from desire, that earthly things no longer seem desirable to him and he has therefore overcome all matter. And then it is easy for the spirit to unfold. Matter is the obstacle to spiritual endeavour. It is there, actually for man, but is nevertheless to be overcome, i.e., the inclination for it must be torn out of the heart, because if man desires something earthly, then he again so to speak establishes the connection with this earthly through his wrong love and therefore forms himself regressively. His desire is for an outer form which he has already overcome, and the immature spiritual hidden in it now seeks to increase by drawing the already advanced spiritual into its sphere and this again means increased desire for matter.... (1.3.1941) The stay in the form should be a compulsion for the spiritual, so that it seeks to become free of it. But once it is free of this outer form and has also gone through further forms in the further phases of development, it is no longer allowed to carry a desire for those outer forms which it has already overcome. Rather, it must learn to despise them, i.e. they must no longer mean so much to the human being that he desires them. But where the desire for matter is still very strong, one can speak of an overpowering of the immature spiritual, to which the human being falls victim. The human being's will is weak and allows himself to be dominated by the spiritual in matter, thus he again falls prey to the activity of satanic forces which hold matter up to the human being as a deception in order to prevent the endeavour towards God, the conscious prayer, and this force also succeeds.... Then matter absorbs the already more mature spiritual substance again, so that the immature spiritual substance increases within itself, which detracts from the spiritual substance which is in the process of higher development, thus signifying spiritual decline for the human being. Such a person will constantly be under the spell of what he desires. It will become increasingly more difficult for him to free himself from it and he will gradually become a slave to that which he should dominate, i.e. overcome; then the power which should be defeated will begin to rule and the result will be that the human being will rarely be able to free himself from this power, that he will still pay homage to it in the beyond by striving for earthly possessions and thinking little or not at all of his soul. In the most favourable case he can therefore remain on the same level. However, the danger is very obvious that the desire for earthly goods is so great that God corresponds to this desire and the spiritual is once again incorporated into this form which fulfils its sensing and thinking.... that the being has to travel the same path and once again feels the external form as an oppressive burden until it has finally freed itself from the desire for it.... until it has finally overcome matter and desires only spiritual good....

물질의 극복. 혼의 입자의 증가.

물질을 통과하는 과정은 존재에게 끝없이 긴 포로생활이다. 그러므로 존재가 해방되는 일은 구원받는 것을 의미해야만 한다. 강요가 강할수록, 형체로부터의 해방이 더 행복해진다. 그러므로 사람이 물질로부터 완전히 분리될 수 있다면, 가장 큰 가치가 있는 일이다. 형체로부터 자유로워지는 일은 이 땅의 것들이 더 이상 그에게 바람직하지 않게 보이고, 따라서 그가 모든 물질을 극복했다는 의미이다. 그러면 영이 자신을 확장시키는 일이 쉽게 된다.

물질은 영적인 추구에 장애물이다. 물질은 실제로 인간을 위한 것이지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 극복되어야 한다. 다시 말해 세상을 향한 성향이 심장에서 사라져야만 한다. 왜냐하면 인간이 세상적인 것을 원하면, 그는 어떤 방식으로든 잘못된 사랑으로 세상과 다시 연결을 이루고, 이로써 자신을 퇴보시키기 때문이다. 그의 욕망은 그가 이미 극복한 겉형체로 향한다. 겉형체 안에 감춰진 성숙하지 못한 영적인 존재들은 이제 이미 앞서간 영들을 자신들의 영역으로 끌어 들임으로써 번성하려고 하고. 이런 일은 다시 물질을 향한 욕구가 증가되는 것을 의미한다.

(1941년 3월 1일) 형체 안에 머무르는 일은 영적인 존재에게 강요가 되야 한다. 이로써 영적인 존재가 형체로부터 자유를 얻으려고 노력하게 해야 한다. 그러나 영적인 존재가 일단 이런 겉형체를 벗어나면, 계속되는 형체를 거쳐 계속되는 성장 단계를 거친다. 이로써 존재는 이미 극복한 겉형체를 더 이상 원하지 않아야 한다. 그는 오히려 이미 극복한 겉형체를 경멸하는 법을 배워야만 한다. 다시 말해 겉형체에 사람이 갈망할 정도의 많은 의미를 더 이상 부여해서는 안 된다.

그러나 물질을 향한 욕망이 아직 매우 강한 사람은 성숙하지 못한 영적인 존재의 주도권 아래에 있고, 그는 이런 존재의 희생자라고 말할 수 있다. 인간의 의지는 연약하고, 물질 안에 있는 영적인 존재에 의해 다스림을 받는다. 다시 말해 사람이 다시 사탄적인 세력들의 영향을 받는다. 사탄적인 세력들은 하나님을 추구하고, 의식적으로 기도하는 일을 막기 위해, 속이는 수단으로 물질을 사람에게 제시하여, 물질이 다시 이미 성장한 영적인 존재를 다시 자신 안으로 받아드리고, 이로써 자신 안에 성숙하지 못한 영적인 존재들을 증가시킨다. 이런 일은 성장 과정 중에 있는 영적인 존재의 성장을 중단시키고, 사람에게는 영적인 퇴보를 의미한다.

그런 사람은 지속적으로 자신이 갈망하는 것에 묶여 있게 될 것이다. 그가 이런 묶임을 벗어나는 일이 점점 더 어려워진다. 그는 서서히 그가 다스려야 할 것에, 즉 그가 극복해야 할 것의 노예가 된다. 그러면 지배당해야 할 권세가 지배하기 시작한다. 이런 일의 결과는 사람이 이런 권세로부터 거의 희귀하게 자유롭게 되는 일이고, 그가 또한 이 땅의 재물을 추구하고, 그가 또한 저세상에서 그의 혼을 거의 또는 전혀 돌보지 않으면서, 아직 재물을 따르는 일이다.

그러므로 그는 최선의 경우 동일한 수준을 유지할 수 있다. 그러나 세상의 재물을 향한 욕망이 너무 커서, 하나님이 이런 욕망에 응답하여, 자신의 사고와 생각의 성취인 형체 안으로 다시 육신을 입게 될 위험이 아주 가까이에 있고, 존재가 같은 길을 통과해야만 하고, 마침내 물질을 향한 욕망에서 자유롭게 될 때까지, 마침내 물질을 극복하고 단지 영적인 재물을 갈망할 때까지, 새로운 겉형체를 억압을 주는 부담으로 깨달아야만 하게 될 위험에 아주 가까이에 있다._>아멘
