Desire of the divine spirit in all simplicity.... (1 Cor. 1, 19-21)

Desiring the divine spirit in all simplicity brings greater success than scientific studies without the right faith. In a time of research in every field, those who are scientifically educated and have great knowledge, which they have acquired through proper study, will be held in high esteem before the world. The more diligently he pursues his goal of absorbing the spiritual knowledge already available to him, the wiser he believes himself to be. And yet an earthly child can be far superior to him in wisdom who turns to God Himself in deep faith in order to be instructed by Him. For this child will far surpass any intellectual enquirer in wisdom. There are problems that cannot be solved with the intellect alone and yet can also be solved if God Himself is approached to solve them. And all it takes is a person's humble devotion to Him and a trusting request for clarification, for this requires the working of the spirit and the spirit from God will guide him into truth. And likewise, a believing person who tries to fathom the truth intellectually will clearly recognize when existing explanations are erroneous. Deep faith will be a better teacher than earthly teachers who lack faith. That is why the results of worldly research can also come close to the truth if they have been obtained intellectually but in deep faith. For such researchers have also been assisted by the divine spiritual power and guided them into correct thinking. However, worldly research can be completely bypassed if the human being connects himself in all simplicity, i.e. in the simplest, most unpretentious way, with God, Who is the eternal truth Himself.... His faith enables him to receive the divine word, and thus God Himself is the teacher of a believing earthly child, and He gives him more wisdom than earthly teachers can ever give him. Academic perseverance, diligence and intellectual labour do not bring about the results that faith, love and humility of heart produce.... God has all wisdom ready for the children of earth who desire it and want to serve Him.... And He imparts all knowledge to them if they willingly open their hearts in order to receive wisdom from God. Yet this process cannot be made credible to the world. It only accepts what can be explained with reason, but rejects what it cannot explain in worldly terms. And anyone who sees with worldly eyes will not find an explanation either. But the believer knows that nothing is impossible with God. And thus God destroys the understanding of the wise, and He rejects the wisdom of the wise.... Yet He gives unlimited consideration with His word to those who devotedly entrust themselves to Him, and He speaks through the mouth of those who want to hear Him....

아주 단순하게 하나님의 영을 갈망하는 일.

아주 단순하게 하나님의 영을 갈망하는 일이, 믿음이 없는 학문적인 연구보다 높은 성공을 한다. 모든 분야에서 연구하는 시대에 학문적으로 교육받았고, 비록 정규 학과과정을 거치는 공부를 통해서 얻었을 지라도, 큰 지식을 얻은 사람은 세상에서 인정을 받는다. 그가 열심히 영적인 글들에 이미 들어 있는 것을 얻으려는 자신의 목표를 추구할수록, 자신이 지혜롭게 될 거라고 사람들은 생각한다.

그러나 깊은 믿음으로 하나님의 가르침을 받기 위해 하나님 자신에게 질문하는 세상의 자녀가 훨씬 더 큰 지혜를 가질 수 있다. 왜냐하면 이런 사람은 이성을 활용해서 연구하는 모든 사람들보다 훨씬 뛰어나게 지혜롭게 될 것이기 때문이다. 단지 이성만으로 해결할 수 없는 문제가 있다. 그러나 하나님 자신에게 이 문제의 답을 구한다면, 해결될 수 있다. 이를 위해 단지 한 사람이 겸손하게 하나님께 헌신하고, 신뢰 가운데 설명해 주기를 부탁하면, 그는 영의 역사를 요구하는 것이고, 하나님으로부터 온 영이 그를 진리로 인도한다.

마찬가지로 믿는 사람이 이성으로 진리를 파헤치려고 하면, 기존의 설명에 오류가 있는 것을 선명하게 깨닫는다. 믿음이 없는 세상의 선생보다 깊은 믿음이 더 좋은 선생이다. 만약에 깊은 믿음으로 행한 이성을 이용한 세상적인 연구의 결과도 또한 진리에 가깝게 된다. 왜냐하면 이러한 연구하는 사람들과 하나님의 영의 능력이 함께 하여, 그들을 올바른 생각으로 인도하기 때문이다.

그러나 만약에 사람이 아주 순박하게, 다시 말해 가장 단순하고, 꾸밈이 없이, 영원한 진리 자체인 하나님과 연결한다면, 세상적인 연구를 피할 수 있다. 그의 믿음이 그가 하나님의 말씀을 받을 능력이 있게 하고, 이로써 하나님 자신이 믿음이 있는 이런 이 땅의 자녀의 뛰어난 선생이다. 하나님은 세상의 선생이 줄 수 있는 것보다 더 많은 지혜를 그에게 준다. 학문적인 연구기간이나, 열심이나, 이성을 사용하는 일이 심장의 믿음과 사랑과 겸손이 나타내 주는 결과를 주지 못한다.

하나님은 지혜를 갈망하고, 자신을 섬기려는 이 땅의 자녀들에게 모든 지혜를 주기 위해 준비하고 있다. 하나님은 그들이 심장을 열고 하나님으로부터 온 지혜를 받아드릴 준비가 되어 있으면, 그들에게 모든 지식을 전해준다. 그러나 세상이 이런 과정을 믿게 할 수 없다. 세상은 단지 이성으로 설명할 수 있는 것만 믿고, 세상적으로 설명할 수 없는 것은 거절한다. 세상적인 눈으로 보는 사람은 해답을 구할 수 없다. 그러나 믿는 사람은 하나님께 불가능이 없음을 안다. 하나님은 이해한다는 사람의 이성을 물리치고, 지혜로운 사람의 지혜를 물리친다. 그러나 하나님은 자신에게 헌신하며, 신뢰하는 사람에게 제한이 없이 자신의 말씀을 공급하고, 그의 입을 통해 자신의 말을 듣기 원하는 모두에게 말한다.
