Intellectual research....

Believers and unbelievers....

The more devotedly a person entrusts himself to God's care the easier his earthly life will be, for it is the will of the Father in Heaven that He should always be remembered. Only in this way can you receive the strength from Him, which He sends without restriction to anyone who desires it.... The human being often searches where a single request for clarification could provide him with information and yet, despite being informed of an instruction from above, he will not avail himself of it because he does not believe. And consequently he will walk in error, for he cannot find the right realisation without faith. The result of the believer will always differ from that of the unbeliever; they are two different basic attitudes which also produce different results. The same success can never be expected if the will to investigate is active, that is, if he only wants to solve some spiritual problems purely intellectually. A distinction must be made between a person who rejects faith and a person who is still searching and weak in faith, who is willing to believe if the scholar seems acceptable to him. This person asks.... but the other claims.... He intellectually compiles a doctrine for himself and is completely convinced of its truth, yet he has not utilised the slightest divine strength for it, thus the result cannot be divine truth either, for the person who does not pray to God is by no means entirely without the influence of spiritual strength, instead he is guided by the opposing force and always by God's opposing activity. Consequently, this opposing force will not allow the human being's thoughts to be in truth either but will do everything in its power to confuse them. Nor is it usually the desire for truth that motivates his research, but the prospect of earthly success drives him to use his intellect. He therefore does not seek any connection with knowledgeable forces, neither consciously nor unconsciously, but he gathers the results of other researchers purely intellectually and puts together a new picture. He does not seek wisdom from the Eternal Wisdom itself but adopts the thought processes of other equally erring people, and the final result must inevitably also be error....

Met het verstand onderzoeken – Gelovigen en ongelovigen

Met hoe meer overgave de mens zich aan de zorg van God toevertrouwt, des te gemakkelijker zal zijn aardse leven zijn, want het is de wil van de Vader in de hemel, dat er altijd aan Hem gedacht wordt. Alleen zo kunnen jullie de kracht uit Hem in ontvangst nemen, die hij onbeperkt toe laat komen aan degene, die deze begeert. De mens onderzoekt vaak, waar een enkele vraag om opheldering uitsluitsel zou kunnen geven en toch zal hij ondanks verwijzingen naar onderricht van boven hier geen beroep op doen, omdat hij niet gelooft. En bijgevolg zal hij dwalen, want de juiste kennis zal hij zonder geloof niet vinden.

Het resultaat van de gelovige mens zal steeds van die van de ongelovige afwijken. Het zijn twee verschillende grondbeginselen, die ook verschillende resultaten opleveren. Nooit kan hetzelfde resultaat verwacht worden, wanneer ook de wil om te onderzoeken actief werkzaam is. Dat wil zeggen dat hij alleen maar zuiver verstandsmatig één of ander geestelijk vraagstuk op wil lossen.

Er moet een onderscheid gemaakt worden tussen een mens, die het geloof afwijst en een mens, die nog zoekend en zwak in het geloof is, maar die tot geloven bereid is, als hetgeen hem onderwezen wordt, hem acceptabel lijkt. Deze mens vraagt, maar de ander beweert. Hij stelt verstandsmatig een leer samen en is volledig overtuigd van de waarheid hiervan. Hij heeft daarvoor echter niet in de geringste mate gebruik gemaakt van de goddelijke kracht, dus kan het resultaat ook geen goddelijke waarheid zijn, want de mens die niet aan God vraagt, is geenszins geheel zonder invloed van geestelijke kracht, maar de tegenstander leidt hem nu en steeds met een werkzaamheid, die tegen God gericht is. Daarom laat deze tegenstander ook niet toe, dat het menselijke denken zich nu in de waarheid bevindt, maar ze zal alles doen om het denken te verwarren.

Het verlangen naar de waarheid is ook meestal niet de beweegreden van zijn onderzoeken, maar het vooruitzicht op aards succes spoort hem ertoe aan om zijn verstand te gebruiken. Hij zoekt dus, bewust of onbewust, geen verbinding met wetende krachten, maar hij brengt zuiver verstandsmatig de resultaten van andere onderzoekers samen en stelt een nieuw beeld samen. Hij haalt de wijsheid niet bij de eeuwige Wijsheid Zelf, maar hij maakt zich de gedachtegang van andere eveneens dwalende zielen eigen en het eindresultaat moet onvermijdelijk ook dwaling zijn.
