Value of spiritual knowledge....earthly knowledge....

The human being lacks the right realization as long as he has not yet penetrated spiritual knowledge, for only this brings him closer to realization. Earthly knowledge certainly contributes towards mastering earthly life and fulfilling its requirements, but it does not have the slightest influence on the state of the soul, which should be given the same care as the physical state but which is taken more seriously in earthly life. spiritual knowledge is the soul's nourishment, it is the only thing beneficial to the soul which gives it strength to fulfil its task in life. He who cultivates spiritual knowledge need not worry about his soul, for it now receives sufficiently what it needs for higher development, whereas earthly knowledge again only brings success to the body and favours an earthly life of well-being. The human being must realize that all endeavours in earthly life must serve a useful purpose after all, and thus the true purpose of earthly as well as spiritual knowledge must be examined as to how far it corresponds to the human being's desire and is therefore worth striving for. Earthly knowledge contributes to the increase of earthly well-being, but the latter is the greatest danger for the soul if it takes the body's desire into account, i.e. wants, feels and thinks what increases the body's well-being. The soul's danger lies in the spiritual stagnation that inevitably occurs when the body alone is respected. But the body only has a short duration of existence, afterwards the soul stands empty and without merit at the gate of eternity, and unspeakable torments are the consequences of the wrong will, of the striven-for earthly knowledge, which does not bring it the slightest relief in the beyond. However, anyone who strives for spiritual knowledge already attains a high degree of maturity on earth, for the spiritual knowledge imparted to him impels the soul to take care of its higher development. It pays no attention to the body and constantly endeavours to use earthly life in accordance with spiritual knowledge, which will already bring it greatest success on earth and will be indescribably redeeming in the beyond. For to stand in spiritual knowledge means a penetration into God's reign and activity; it means to have knowledge of God's current of power, of God's love, omnipotence and wisdom, of the radiation of His spirit, of the purpose and meaning of all creation and the favours which man can gain for himself if only he wants to. The knowledge of all this is the motivation to consciously work on oneself; it allows the physical desire to recede into the background and the desire for God to become the purpose of life. spiritual knowledge therefore promotes the state of the soul and puts the human being in a position to mould himself into a being of light already on earth. spiritual knowledge first benefits the soul but does not leave the body unnoticed either, for it will now also be given what it needs if the soul is thought of first and the bodily desire for the sake of the soul is disregarded. And the departure from this world will be an easy one and lead the soul towards eternal glory, for it will pass over with an unimaginable wealth, it will take all the treasures it has acquired on earth through spiritual knowledge with it, as it were. It possesses something that can never be taken away from it again and the entrance into eternity will mean happiness and eternal bliss for it....

Wert des geistigen Wissens....Irdisches Wissen....

Es mangelt dem Menschen an der rechten Erkenntnis, solange er in geistiges Wissen noch nicht eingedrungen ist, denn dieses erst bringt ihn der Erkenntnis näher. Das irdische Wissen trägt wohl dazu bei, das Erdenleben zu meistern und dessen Anforderungen gerecht zu werden, es hat aber nicht den geringsten Einfluß auf den Zustand der Seele, dem gleiche Sorge gelten soll wie dem körperlichen Zustand, der jedoch im Erdenleben wichtiger genommen wird. Es ist das geistige Wissen die Nahrung der Seele, es ist das der Seele allein Zuträgliche, das ihr Kraft gibt zur Lebensaufgabe. Wer geistiges Wissen pflegt, braucht um seine Seele nicht besorgt zu sein, denn sie empfängt nun hinreichend, wessen sie bedarf zur Höherentwicklung, während das irdische Wissen wieder nur dem Körper Erfolge einträgt und ein irdisches Wohlleben begünstigt. Es muß sich der Mensch darüber klar sein, daß alle Bestrebungen im Erdenleben doch einem nützlichen Zweck dienen müssen, und also muß der wahre Zweck des irdischen, sowie des geistigen Wissens einer Betrachtung unterzogen werden, wie weit er dem Verlangen des Menschen entspricht und also angestrebt zu werden lohnt. Es trägt das irdische Wissen zur Erhöhung des irdischen Wohllebens bei, doch letztes ist größte Gefahr für die Seele, so diese dem Verlangen des Körpers Rechnung trägt, also das will, fühlt und denkt, was des Körpers Wohlbehagen erhöht. Die Gefahr der Seele liegt im geistigen Stillstand, der unweigerlich eintritt, wenn des Körpers allein geachtet wird. Der Körper aber hat nur eine kurz bemessene Daseinsdauer, nachher steht die Seele leer und verdienstlos am Tor der Ewigkeit, und unsagbare Qualen sind die Folgen des verkehrten Willens, des angestrebten irdischen Wissens, das ihr im Jenseits nicht die geringste Erleichterung einträgt. Wer jedoch geistiges Wissen anstrebt, erreicht auf Erden schon einen hohen Reifegrad, denn das, was ihm an geistigem Wissen vermittelt wird, treibt die Seele an, für ihre Höherentwicklung zu sorgen. Sie achtet des Körpers nicht und ist ständig bemüht, dem geistigen Wissen entsprechend das Erdenleben zu nützen, was ihr größten Erfolg eintragen wird schon auf Erden und unbeschreiblich erlösend empfunden wird im Jenseits. Denn im geistigen Wissen zu stehen, bedeutet ein Eindringen in Gottes Walten und Wirken; es bedeutet Kenntnis zu haben von Gottes Kraftströmung, von Gottes Liebe, Allmacht und Weisheit, von der Ausstrahlung Seines Geistes, vom Zweck und Sinn aller Schöpfung und den Gnadenzuwendungen, die sich der Mensch erringen kann, wenn er nur will. Das Wissen um alles dieses ist Antrieb zum bewußten Arbeiten an sich selbst; es läßt das körperliche Verlangen in den Hintergrund treten und das Verlangen nach Gott zum Lebensinhalt werden. Geistiges Wissen fördert also den Seelenzustand und setzt den Menschen in die Lage, sich zum Lichtwesen zu gestalten schon auf Erden. Geistiges Wissen trägt der Seele zuerst Vorteil ein, läßt aber auch den Körper nicht unbedacht, denn es wird ihm nun auch gegeben, wessen er bedarf, so der Seele zuerst gedacht und des körperlichen Verlangens um der Seele willen nicht geachtet wird. Und das Abscheiden von dieser Welt wird ein leichtes sein und die Seele der ewigen Herrlichkeit entgegenführen, denn sie geht mit einem unnennbaren Reichtum hinüber, sie nimmt alle Schätze gleichsam mit, die sie durch geistiges Wissen auf Erden erworben hat. Sie besitzt etwas, was ihr niemals mehr genommen werden kann, und der Eingang in die Ewigkeit wird für sie Glück und ewige Seligkeit bedeuten....
