Aversion to spiritual food.... obstacle....

Enormous obstacles are placed in front of the soul if the human being has an aversion to spiritual food. He piles up the bulwark higher and higher, which he is supposed to remove, and this manifests itself in ever greater worldliness, in keen interest in all earthly things, while the soul is only poorly thought of. Such people spend by far the greater part of their life in inactivity of spirit, for they spend all their thinking only on what is tangible to them and cling to it with extreme tenacity, not realizing that everything comes to an end with their departure from this world. They call concern for their soul's salvation useless and fruitless, or they cling to sham faith and sham worship and are convinced of their infallibility so that they believe they need no instruction. And what could be offered to them for their souls they let pass by unnoticed.... This depresses the soul and it anaesthetizes itself with self-chosen pleasures to which no spiritual value can be attributed. And so the hour of death will come and with it the realization that it has rejected the greatest grace the lord has bestowed on people. This realization is extremely bitter, for the event can never be reversed and thus the soul cannot be given a degree of maturity afterwards either if the time on earth was not used as far as possible. The lord leads every human being into the proximity of divine activity, the human being himself is always the decisive factor as to whether he utilizes this opportunity and thus matures spiritually or takes no notice of it at all and thus remains spiritually on the same level. And if people would consider this, that they enter the beyond unprepared as it were, and then think of the many days which could have brought them spiritual progress if only they had been willing, then they would now have to muster all willpower to make use of all opportunities. For it is difficult to make up for what the human being failed to do on earth, even though the soul will still be given opportunities to ascend in the beyond. However, it is never possible to achieve the perfection in a short time that earthly life can bring to a willing person. Only he who strives continuously, i.e. who first considers his soul before he does something to his body, will be able to reach a very high level already on earth, which requires an unimaginably long time in the beyond. For earthly life is a blessing for the human being, it has been granted to him for the soul's complete redemption, yet it is not always utilized such that the human being can enter the kingdom of light, which promises unimaginable delights, immediately after his passing away. What the human being did not want to hear on earth he will have to accept in the beyond if he does not want to remain inactive on the lowest level as an unfinished spirit and be dependent on the mercy of the beings of light or the prayers of people still on earth.... And this is the fate of those who reject what is offered to them from above and make no effort whatsoever to improve the state of their soul, for they are faced with an almost insurmountable task when realization finally comes to them....

Abneigung gegen geistige Speise.... Hindernis....

Es legen sich gewaltige Hindernisse vor die Seele, so der Mensch eine Abneigung hat gegen geistige Speise. Er türmt das Bollwerk immer höher auf, das er doch abtragen soll, und es zeigt sich dies in immer größerer Verweltlichung, in regem Interesse für alles Irdische, während der Seele nur kärglich gedacht wird. Es bringen solche Menschen den weitaus größeren Teil ihres Lebens in Untätigkeit des Geistes zu, denn sie verwenden all ihr Denken nur auf ihnen Greifbares und hängen daran mit äußerster Zähigkeit fest, nicht bedenkend, daß alles ein Ende hat mit ihrem Scheiden von dieser Welt. Die Sorge um das Seelenheil nennen sie unnütz und fruchtlos, oder sie hangen dem Scheinglauben und dem Scheingottesdienst an und sind von ihrer Unfehlbarkeit überzeugt, so daß sie keine Belehrungen zu benötigen glauben. Und was ihnen nun geboten werden könnte für ihre Seele, lassen sie unbeachtet vorübergehen.... Dies bedrücket die Seele, und sie betäubet sich mit selbstgewählten Freuden, denen keinerlei geistiger Wert zuzumessen ist. Und so wird die Stunde des Todes kommen und mit dieser die Erkenntnis, die größte Gnade abgewiesen zu haben, die der Herr den Menschen zugehen ließ. Es ist diese Erkenntnis äußerst bitter, denn das Geschehen läßt sich nimmer rückgängig machen, und also ist auch der Seele nicht nachträglich ein Reifegrad zu verschaffen, so die Erdenzeit nicht genützt wurde, soweit es möglich war. Es führt der Herr einen jeden Menschen in die Nähe des göttlichen Wirkens, immer ist der Mensch selbst der Entscheidende, ob er von dieser Gelegenheit Nutzen zieht und also geistig ausreifet oder aber keinerlei Notiz davon nimmt und geistig also auf gleicher Stufe stehenbleibt. Und wenn die Menschen dies bedenken möchten, daß sie gleichsam unvorbereitet eingehen in das Jenseits, und dann gedenken der vielen Tage, die ihnen geistigen Fortschritt eintragen konnten, so sie nur willig gewesen wären, so müßten sie nun alle Willenskraft aufbieten, sich alle Gelegenheiten zunutze zu machen. Denn es ist schwerlich etwas nachzuholen, was der Mensch auf Erden versäumte, obgleich auch im Jenseits der Seele noch Möglichkeiten gegeben werden, zur Höhe zu gelangen. Es ist aber nimmermehr möglich, jene Vollkommenheit zu erreichen in kurzer Zeit, die das Erdenleben einem willigen Menschen eintragen kann. Nur wer fortgesetzt strebet, d.h. seine Seele zuerst bedenket, ehe er seinem Körper etwas antut, dem wird es möglich sein, eine sehr hohe Stufe schon auf Erden zu erreichen, wozu im Jenseits eine unvorstellbar lange Zeit gehört. Denn es ist das Erdenleben eine Gnade für den Menschen, es ist ihm gewährt worden zur restlosen Erlösung der Seele, doch nicht immer wird sie ausgenützet so, daß der Mensch gleich nach seinem Ableben eingehen kann in das Lichtreich, das ungeahnte Wonnen verheißet. Was der Mensch auf Erden nicht hören wollte, wird er im Jenseits annehmen müssen, will er nicht in der untersten Stufe als unvollendeter Geist untätig verharren und auf die Barmherzigkeit der Lichtwesen oder dem Gebet der noch auf Erden weilenden Menschen angewiesen sein.... Und dies ist das Los derer, die abweisen, was ihnen von oben geboten wird, und keinerlei Anstalten treffen, ihren Seelenzustand zu bessern, denn sie stehen einer fast unüberwindlichen Aufgabe gegenüber, so ihnen endlich die Erkenntnis kommt..
