Subordination of the will.... liberation of the spirit....

If the will of man subordinates itself to the divine will, then that transformation takes place in the soul of man which liberates the spirit. The transformation of thinking has now taken place, the will, which previously rebelled against the creator, has now become soft and submissive; the human being regocnizes the creator's wisdom and love, and he knows that only God's love ever determines every event, and thus he humbly submits to everything that comes upon him. And now the spirit is free, which was previously inhibited by the will striving against God.... A transformation of the whole person now takes place. To a certain extent, he now lives in a sphere that was previously alien to him.... The spirit within him gives him knowledge of his true home, and now that the human being's will is no longer an obstacle, he is also able to visualize this home, for he allows himself to be guided by the spirit that announces itself to him. The weak-willed human being can also be easily guided, both by good and bad power, but the weakness of the will does not contribute to the complete liberation of the spirit.... For the weakness of will is always utilized by the opposing power and strengthened in a God-resisting sense. The human being must submit his will to the divine will with full awareness.... This also requires a certain strength of will which turns towards God.... while the weakness of will makes the human being fickle but does not always decide in favour of God. Submitting one's own will to God will always involve a certain struggle, for man is far more likely to demand that which is opposed to the divine will. Thus, if he wants to serve God, fulfil His will and unconditionally submit himself to the divine will, he must be in constant battle with his desires, with himself and everything that appears beneficial to the body. Yet this constant battle with himself also leads him closer to victory.... Once he has succeeded in completely conquering his will and recognizing only the divine will, divine love gives him far more precious things than he has given up. He slowly slips from this earth into the spheres of the spiritual.... He regocnizes more and more the worthlessness of everything he has given up and the precious treasure he has now unearthed.... God Himself offers him something that cannot be acquired earthly in any other way. He imparts to him divine truth, profound knowledge and the highest power of realization. And so the human being begins a second life, as it were, which differs considerably from the previous one, earthly life recedes into the background and the love, wisdom and omnipotence of God is revealed before the human being's spiritual eye.... Man gains insight into divine activity and the meaning and purpose of creation becomes apparent to him. For when man has sacrificed his will, he has fulfilled the actual purpose of life. He has regocnized his origin from God and now no longer resists Him but turns to Him with full awareness and free will.... He has given up his resistance, which for millennia had caused the being to flee from God, and now seeks to achieve the final union with Him.... And thus the subordination of one's own will to the divine will is absolutely necessary for the soul's final redemption....

의지로 순종. 영의 해방.

인간의 의지가 하나님의 의지에 순복한다면, 인간의 혼이 영을 자유롭게 하는 변화가 일어나고, 이제 생각의 변화가 일어나고, 이전에 창조주에게 반역했던 의지가 이제는 순종하게 된다. 인간은 창조주의 지혜와 사랑을 깨닫는다. 그는 하나님의 사랑이 단지 모든 일어나는 일을 정하다는 것을 알고, 그러므로 자신에게 다가오는 모든 일에 순복한다.

전에는 하나님을 대적하려는 의지에 의해 억제되었던 영이 이제 자유롭게 된다. 이제 사람 전체에 변화가 일어난다. 어떤 의미에서 그는 이제 전에는 그가 알지못하던 영역에서 살게 된다. 자신 안의 영이 그에게 그의 진정한 고향에 대한 지식을 제공하고, 이제 인간의 의지가 더 이상 장애물이 아니기 때문에, 이 고향을 생생하게 상상할 수 있다. 왜냐하면 그가 자신을 표현하는 영의 이끌림을 받기 때문이다.

의지가 약한 사람도 또한 선한 힘과 악한 힘에 의해 쉽게 인도받을 수 있다. 그러나 약한 의지는 영을 완전히 해방시키는 일에 도움을 주지 못한다. 왜냐하면 약한 의지는 항상 대적자의 세력에 의해 이용당하고, 하나님을 대적하려는 방향으로 의지를 강하게 만들기 때문이다. 사람은 의식적으로 자신의 뜻을 하나님의 뜻 아래 복종해야만 한다. 그렇게 하기 위해 하나님께 향하려는 특정한 의지의 힘이 필요하다. 반면에 의지의 연약함은 사람들을 확고하게 만들지 못하고, 항상 하나님을 선택하게 하지 않는다.

자신의 뜻을 하나님께 복종시키는 일은 항상 어떤 투쟁이 필요하게 될 것이다. 왜냐하면 사람은 하나님의 뜻에 반대되는 것을 더 잘 요구하기 때문이다. 그러므로 그가 하나님을 섬기고, 하나님의 뜻을 성취시키고, 무조건적으로 자신을 하나님의 뜻에 복종시키기를 원한다면, 그는 자신과 몸에 유익해 보이는 모든 것에 대한 갈망과 끊임없이 싸워야만 한다. 그러나 이와 같은 하나님과의 끊임없는 투쟁은 또한 그를 승리에 더 가깝게 만들어 줄 것이다. 그가 자신의 뜻을 완전히 다스리고, 단지 하나님의 뜻만 인정하는 일에 성공한다면, 하나님의 사랑은 그에게 그가 포기한 것보다 훨씬 더 귀중한 것을 준다.

그는 이 땅에서 영적인 영역으로 서서히 인도를 받는다. 그는 자신이 포기한 모든 것의 무가치함과 그가 지금 쌓아온 소중한 보물을 점점 더 많이 깨닫게 된다. 하나님이 친히 그에게 다른 방법으로는 얻을 수 없는 것을 준다. 하나님은 그에게 하나님의 진리와, 가장 깊은 지식과 깨달을 수 있는 가장 큰 능력을 제공한다. 즉 인간은 이전의 삶과 현저하게 다른 두 번째의 삶을 시작한다. 이 땅의 삶은 뒷자리를 차지하게 되고, 인간의 영적인 눈 앞에 하나님의 사랑과 지혜와 전능함이 드러나게 된다. 인간은 하나님의 역사에 대한 통찰력을 얻고, 그에게 창조의 의미와 목적이 분명해진다.

왜냐하면 사람이 자신의 의지를 희생하면, 그가 삶의 진정한 목적을 달성하기 때문이다. 그는 자신이 하나님으로부터 나온 것을 깨닫고, 이제 더 이상 하나님께 저항하지 않고, 완전한 의식과 자유의지로 하나님께 향한다. 그는 수천년 동안 존재를 하나님으로부터 도망치게 했던 저항을 포기하고, 이제 그와의 최종적인 연합을 이루려고 노력한다. 그러므로 혼의 최종적인 구원을 위해 자신의 의지를 하나님의 의지에 복종시키는 일이 절대적으로 필요하다.
