(continuation of no. 1121) Prerequisite....

The strength of the spirit can only work where it is granted freedom, and thus the spirit of someone who lacks all faith in the dormant spark of God within himself can never express itself. And thus the gulf that separates such people from cognition is unbridgeable until he realizes the worthlessness of everything earthly and his thinking is slowly transformed.... Then the human being does turn to the deity and asks about things which are now answered by the divine spirit, and the power of the spirit now expresses itself, at first still unclear to the human being, however, if he is serious about spiritual knowledge, the answer will become increasingly clearer and more comprehensible to him. Thus the spirit in him has become lively.... spiritual science is either cultivated with full fervour or completely rejected.... The God-seeking, loving human being will always be introduced to it, and he will regocnize that he can still and still draw from this container of wisdom if he is hungry for knowledge, and that every area will be opened up to him through it.... and that in fullest truth and highest perfection. Yet all spiritual influence remains alien to the worldly aspirant, for he pays no attention when he receives corresponding instructions or advice.... His train of thought is so secularized that he has no understanding for the subtle spiritual language of the knower. Everything is so incomprehensible to him that he at best doubts the clear thinking of the latter with regret but never takes such transmissions seriously. And from a purely objective point of view, he cannot prove that a power can express itself in man that is alien to him.... This thought is a nuisance to him and so he does not endeavour to test it for its correctness. And his state of mind remains the same, unfinished, backward and the human being completely ignorant and yet living in the conviction that his knowledge far surpasses that of his fellow human beings. Yet one day these poor people will have to regocnize the hardship their deluded thinking has caused.... For their worldly knowledge will not be valued in the beyond and they are poor and empty in spiritual knowledge.... And if those knowledgeable beings, who were misjudged in earthly life, did not want to help them and take care of their hardship, such souls would truly be in a bad way. And what was so easily available to them on earth now has to be gained with difficulty and effort in the beyond, and the regret about the missed opportunity on earth will torment these beings once they have realized how necessary spiritual knowledge and the working of spiritual strength is for the higher development of all beings....

(Voortzetting van nr. 1121) Voorwaarde

De kracht van de geest kan alleen daar werken, waar hem vrijheid verleend is. En dus kan een geest zich nooit uiten tegenover degene, bij wie het aan elk geloof in de in hem sluimerende vonk van God ontbreekt. En daarom is de kloof, die zulke mensen van het inzicht scheidt, net zo lang onoverbrugbaar, totdat eens de waardeloosheid van al het wereldse tot zijn bewustzijn doordringt en zijn denken langzaam verandert.

Dan wendt de mens zich toch tot de Godheid en vraagt naar zaken, die hem nu door de goddelijke geest beantwoord worden. En de kracht van de geest uit zich nu, aanvankelijk nog onduidelijk voor de mens, maar als het hem ernst is om geestelijke kennis te verkrijgen, zal het antwoord hem steeds duidelijker en begrijpelijker toegestuurd worden. En dus is de geest in hem actief geworden.

De geesteswetenschap wordt of met volle ijver beoefend, of geheel afgewezen. De Godzoekende, liefhebbende mens zal hier steeds in worden binnengeleid en hij zal inzien dat hij telkens opnieuw zal kunnen putten uit dit vat van wijsheid, als hij naar kennis hongert en dat daardoor elk gebied voor hem ontsloten zal worden. En dat in de volste waarheid en de hoogste volmaaktheid.

Maar voor de werelds strevende mens blijft alle geestelijke invloed vreemd, want hij slaat er geen acht op, als hem overeenkomstige leringen of aanwijzingen toegestuurd worden. Zijn gedachtegang is zo verwereldlijkt, dat hij voor deze fijne taal van degenen, die kennis hebben, geen begrip heeft. Voor hem is alles zo onbegrijpelijk, dat hij hoogstens met medelijden het zuivere denken van de wetende in twijfel trekt, maar dat hij zulke berichten nooit ernstig neemt.

En het zuiver objectieve bewijs, dat een kracht, die vreemd voor hem is, zich in een mens kan uiten, kan hem niet worden gebracht. Deze gedachte is vervelend voor hem en daarom spant hij zich ook niet in om het op zijn juistheid te onderzoeken. En de toestand van zijn ziel blijft nog altijd dezelfde, onvolmaakt en onderontwikkeld, en de mens blijft volledig onwetend en leeft daarbij in de overtuiging dat zijn kennis die van de medemensen ver overtreft.

Maar eens zullen deze armen de nood moeten inzien, die hun verblinde denken teweeggebracht heeft. Want hun wereldse kennis wordt in het hiernamaals niet gewaardeerd en aan geestelijke kennis zijn ze arm en leeg. En als deze wetende, in het leven op aarde miskende wezens, hen niet hulpvaardig bij zouden willen staan en zich niet in hun nood over hen zouden willen ontfermen, zou het werkelijk slecht met zulke zielen gesteld zijn.

En wat hen op aarde zo gemakkelijk ter beschikking stond, moet nu in het hiernamaals zwaar en moeizaam verworven worden. En het berouw over de verzuimde kans op aarde zal deze wezens kwellen, zodra ze eenmaal beseft hebben, hoe noodzakelijk het geestelijke weten en het werkzaam zijn van de geestelijke kracht voor de opwaartse ontwikkeling van alle wezens is._>Amen
